All About Badging
Badging FAQs
What is a digital badge?
Badges are digital artifacts that demonstrate your accomplishment tied to a course or a series of courses,
which can be accessed, displayed, and verified online. You might think of badges as an emerging form of a
professional credential. They can be shared in many places – across social media, in your email signature, or
even on your web-based resume.
How do I earn a badge in a course?
Badges are awarded upon successful completion of a course. In order to receive the badge, you will need to
engage with all course content and required activities. See details in your course for specific requirements.
Where do I find my badge?
After completing the course requirements, you will find your badge by clicking on the Badges link in Canvas
navigation. If visiting Badges for the first time, you may need to authorize Badgr to have access to your
Canvas account.
If you have created an account on our badging platform, Badgr.com, (we recommend doing so!), you will also
be able to access badges from the “Backpack” tab. Note: If you are receiving a badge for the first time, you
will receive an email notification with a link to “Create Account” to create your profile on Badgr.com.
How and where can I share my badge?
Our badging platform makes it easy to share your accomplishment across social media or add your badge as
a LinkedIn Certification. From your course, click on the Badges link in Canvas navigation. Select the badge
you want to share to open the Badge view, then choose the social media button where you would like to
share your badge. You will follow a similar process if viewing your badge from your account on our badging
platform. You can also download a copy of your badge for use on your resume.
What if my school or institution requires a course certificate?
Our badging platform makes it easy to generate your own certificate after you have been awarded a course
completion badge. Follow these directions to print your badge in certificate format.
