This material is intended exclusively for the use of teachers in the implementation of the MATATAG K to 10
Curriculum. It aims to assist in delivering the curriculum content, standards, and lesson competencies.

2. How can you describe wastes that can be disposed?
Wastes that can be disposed are perishable goods or made of
materials that can perish overtime.
3. What do you think will happen to the trash that was put in

Wastes that can be re-used includes Glass bottles and Piece of
Cloth.
5. How can you describe wastes that can be reused?
Wastes that can be reused are those that are made of materials that
cannot perish overtime which are suitable for repurposing or re-
using.

Wastes under that column can be used again. They are made of
materials that cannot be broken so easily.

7. What are the wastes that can be recycled?


Waste that can be recycled are those that are made of strong
materials and does not break easily. It can be re purposed into
another material and can be used again.
8. What do you think will happen to the trash that was put in the
‘can be recycled’ column?

Andy, the Rotten Apple

Andy the Apple lived in a fruit bowl with his friends, the bananas
and oranges. One day, Andy noticed he was starting to rot. He
remembered what his friend, the wise old gardener, had said:
"Rotten fruits can help the garden grow!"
Determined to be useful, Andy rolled off the counter and headed
toward the “can be disposed” bin. Just then, little Timmy walked
into the kitchen and saw Andy missed the bin.
Little Timmy then put Andy in the “can be disposed” bin. "There
you go, Andy!" Timmy said. "You’re going to help our garden
grow!"
Timmy picked up Andy and placed him in the “can be disposed”
bin, where Andy joined other food scraps. Together, they turned
into rich soil that helped Timmy’s garden bloom beautifully.
From that day on, Timmy always remembered to put food scraps
in the “can be disposed” bin. Thanks to Andy and his new friends,
the garden was full of beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables,
keeping the earth clean and green.

Evaluation
Instruction: List three items you see at home and describe them.
Then classify each item as waste that can be disposed of, can be

Observing safety precautions when handling and disposing of
waste is crucial because it helps prevent injuries, contamination,
and the spread of harmful bacteria or viruses. It also ensures that
waste is managed responsibly, protecting not only individuals but
also communities and ecosystems. Following safety measures is a
way of promoting public health and environmental sustainability.
Instruction. Enumerate the safety precautions that you need to do in
making a pen holder from recycled plastic bottle.

1. Wash the plastic bottle thoroughly – Clean the bottle to remove
any residue or dirt that may cause infection or odor.
2. Use child-safe or blunt scissors – If you’re cutting the bottle,
make sure to use safe cutting tools to avoid injuries.
3. Ask for adult supervision – If you’re a child, always ask for help
from an adult, especially when using sharp objects.
4. Handle sharp edges carefully – After cutting, the edges of the
plastic may be sharp. Smooth them using sandpaper or cover
them with tape to avoid cuts.
5. Avoid inhaling glue or paint fumes – Work in a well-ventilated
area when using adhesives or paints.
6. Dispose of leftover materials properly – Clean up scraps and
dispose of them safely to prevent accidents or environmental
harm.
7. Store tools properly after use – Return scissors, cutters, and
other tools to a safe place after completing your project.
