Introduction to Basic Mathematics

Mathematics is the study of numbers, shapes, patterns, and relationships. It is an essential subject

used in many fields such as science, engineering, finance, and everyday life.

1. Arithmetic:

- Addition (+), Subtraction (-)

- Multiplication (×), Division (÷)

- Examples:

7 + 5 = 12

9-4=5

6 × 3 = 18

15 ÷ 3 = 5

2. Algebra:

- The use of letters and symbols to represent numbers and quantities in formulas and equations.

- Example: Solve for x in the equation x + 3 = 7 -> x = 4

3. Geometry:

- The study of shapes, sizes, and properties of space.

- Common shapes: triangle, square, circle

- Example: Area of a rectangle = length × width

4. Fractions and Decimals:

- Fraction: A part of a whole, written as 1/2, 3/4, etc.

- Decimal: A fraction written in a special form. Example: 0.5, 0.75

5. Measurements:

- Units of measurement include meters, liters, grams, etc.

- Used to measure length, volume, mass, and time.

Mathematics helps us think logically, solve problems, and make informed decisions.
