DAY 1 TOPIC: THE CHALLENGES OF MIDDLE AND LATE ADOLESCENCE.
OBJECTIVES: 1. discuss that facing challenges during adolescence may help clarify and manage the
demands of teen years.
2. express your feelings about expectations of significant people around you (parents, siblings,
friends, teachers, community leaders).
3. make affirmations that help you become more lovable and capable as an adolescent.
SET
Check all attendees.
Ask a volunteer to lead a prayer.
Ask the students to submit their portfolio.
Icebreaker “Expectations Game” students list 2 things others expect from them.
Ask the students “Who puts the most pressure on you is it yourself, family, or friends?”.
REVIEW:
Recall their PETA 3 from last week.
Ask the students “Which responsibility from your collage do you think is the hardest? Why?”.

EXPLAIN
Present the learning objectives.
Ask the students to read the section on general challenges of middle and late adolescence page 39-39 on
their textbook.
Each student identifies and shares 1 challenge they relate to (1) sexual relationships (2) peer adjustment
(3) intellectual maturation (4) vocational choice (5) emotional maturity.
Ask the students (1)How do you feel when people expect too much from you? (2) What’s one way you
usually cope with stress?.
APPLY
Ask the students to do the activity 4.1 it’s all about expectations on page 39 in their textbook.
Ask students to share aloud if comfortable.
GENERALIZE
Ask the students “How can knowing your challenges help you handle them better?”.
Assignment:
List at least 3 challenges Filipino teens face today.
DAY 2 TOPIC: COMMON PROBLEMS OF FILIPINO ADOLESCENTS
OBJECTIVES: 1. discuss that facing challenges during adolescence may help clarify and manage the
demands of teen years.
2. express your feelings about expectations of significant people around you (parents, siblings,
friends, teachers, community leaders).
3. make affirmations that help you become more lovable and capable as an adolescent.

Ask the students to read the textbook page 40 section common problems of filipino adolescents.
Lists issues on the board such (1) mental health (2) academic pressure (3) family separation (4) poverty (5)
addiction.
Ask each student to pick 1 and share why it matters to them or someone they know.
Ask the students (1) Have you seen or experienced this problem? (2) How did it affect the person’s
behavior?.
APPLY
Ask students to draw a “teen challenge card” (1) front: Name of a common problem (2) back: possible
solutions or ways to cope.
Share and post them on the bulletin board, put a labelled “challenge wall”.
GENERALIZE
Ask the students “Why is it helpful to talk about teen problems openly?”.
Assignment:
Prepare a quote or message that motivates you during difficult times.
DAY 3 TOPIC: MANAGING THE DEMANDS ON ADOLESCENTS

Ask the students “What could happen if we don’t manage our stress well?”.

Ask the students to create a “Stress Survival Box” idea list, each students writes 5 items or actions they’d
include.
Encourage students to share aloud and compare.
GENERALIZE
Ask the students “What small action can you do today to manage pressure better?”.
Assignment:
Write 3 personal affirmations to say to yourself when you feel stressed.
DAY 5 TOPIC: BECOMING MORE LOVABLE AND CAPABLE ADOLESCENTS

2. express your feelings about expectations of significant people around you (parents, siblings,
friends, teachers, community leaders).
3. make affirmations that help you become more lovable and capable as an adolescent.
