Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the learners will be able to:
A. Explain how species diversity increases the probability of adaptation and survival of organisms in
changing environments.
B. Analyze how biodiversity affects the stability of an ecosystem.
C. Suggest ways on how local biodiversity can be protected and conserved in the community.
II.

Teacher’s Activities Student Activities
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Prayer
Everyone please stand up. Let us start our class with a
prayer. STUDENT 1 please lead a prayer. The learners will stand and pray
2. Greeting
Good afternoon class! Good afternoon, Ma’am!
Please pick up any trash that may be beside or under
your seat. Let's make sure us environment is clean and
comfortable for everyone. (Students will check under their seat
and make sure everything okay)
Thank you, everyone. Please have
a seat and make yourself (Students will sit in their chairs.)

Is everyone present?
Okay that’s great to hear!
B. Recall
Before we start our new lesson, let’s have a quick
review from our previous lesson, the Evidence of
Evolution. Are you guys ready? Yes, Ma’am
So, this is the first one What is Evolution?
Yes, Emanuel.
Ma’am, Evolution is not a historical
process; it occurs at this moment.
Very good, next who is the scientist that proposed the
idea that all new species descend from an ancestor.
Yes, Acang Ma’am Charles Darwin.
Excellent! Next what is Fossils? Ma’am, Fossils are the remnants of a
creature from the primitive times.
Very good, how about Homologous and Analogous
Structure? Ma’am, homologous if they have similar
embryonic origins and analogous if they
are identical only in function.
Very good. Did you understand our last topic class?
Yes, ma’am
Any questions? Clarifications?
No, ma’am
Okay. Let’s proceed to our new topic.

This time, we will have an oral recitation. You’re going
to identify which species of plants or animals will be
able to survive, migrate and die. Yes ma’am.
student listen attentively and answers in
every question.

Every organism has a unique ecosystem within which it
lives-its natural habitat. This is where its basic needs to
survive are met: food, water, shelter from the changing
weather and climate and place to breed its offspring.
Habitats are constantly changing and evolving.
Animals living within must constantly adapt to
environmental changes, big or small.
Adaptation is all about survival. When the
Rhodelyn you read what is the adaptation and give environment dramatically changes, some
your own idea of what you’ve read? animals move to other places, others die,
and some develop adaptations over
generations to survive
Very good, animals have variety of ways to adapt to
their environment.
1. Structural or Physical
2. Behavioral
Using body structures to an animal survive
Mico the Structural or Physical 1. Camouflage
2. Mimicry
3. Chemical defenses
4. Body coverings
Okay first is Camouflage a defense mechanism or
tactic that the organisms use to disguise their
appearance, usually to blend in with their surroundings.
Next, you read Emmanuel. Ability of an organism to imitate and
copycat another species in terms of sound,
appearance, smell, behavior or location to
protect itself. It also refers to the
resemblance of an animal species to
another species or to natural objects.
Include substances utilized by prey which
Next Kiesha you read. are harmful to invading organisms.

And last one is Body coverings- cover the body and
protect animals from external factors.
Now lets proceed to behavioral adaptation. You read Behavioral or how animals respond or act
Samantha. to life needs. Behavioral adaptation could
be instinctive or happen naturally.
1. Hibernation
2. Migration
3. Learned Behavior
First is Hibernation, you read Rean. when animals bare sleep as a response to
cold weather and survive the cold winter.
Next is Migration-a behavioral adaptation that involves
an animal or group of animals travelling from one place
to another and then back again when seasons change.
The last one is, you read Balasabas. Learned Behaviors. These animal
behaviors are obtained and acquired by
interacting with the environment and
cannot be passed on to the next
generation except by teaching. Examples
are swimming, playing, walking, jumping,
etc.
Each adaptation has been produced by evolution. This
only means that the adaptations have developed over
many generations. Adaptations of species of plants
and animals in their environment could result to high
biodiversity.
E. Generalization
Yes, ma’am.

So now, do you fully understand of our topic today?
Who can give the summary of our lesson today? Yes, Animals living within must constantly adapt
Rhodelyn. to environmental changes, big or small.
And also, animals have variety of ways to
adapt to their environment.
1. Structural or Physical
2. Behavioral
Structural or Physical or using body
structures to help an animal survive which
include the Camouflage, Mimicry,
Chemical defenses and Body coverings. In
Behavioral or how animals respond or act
to life needs. Behavioral adaptation could
be instinctive or happen naturally.
Examples of this type adaptation are;
Hibernation, Migration, and Learned
Behaviors.
Very good.
F. Evaluation
So, this time get one fourth sheet of paper and answer
the following:
Directions: Below are pictures of some animals and
their different forms of adaptation. Match the words in
Column B (forms of adaptation) and the related use of
adaptation in Column C with the pictures in Column A.
Write the letter and number (in Roman Numeral) for
coding your answer.
