1. b) 160 kWh
2. b) Demand factor
3. c) 2.07 kW
4. c) Reactive Power

6. b) Rs. 386
7. c) Net Present Value
8. b) 0
9. d) wattmeter
10. c) Energy service company

11. Define i) Energy audit and ii) energy saving certificate.

➢ Energy audit: Energy audit means the verification, monitoring and analysis of use of
energy including submission of technical report containing recommendations for
improving energy efficiency with cost benefit analysis and an action plan to reduce energy
consumption.
➢ Energy savings certificate: Energy savings certificate” means any energy savings
certificate issued to the designated consumers.

12. Briefly explain the need for an energy policy

Many organisations have not felt it necessary to adopt a formal energy policy. However, a
formal written energy policy acts both as:
✓ A public expression of your organization’s commitment to energy conservation and
environmental protection
✓ A working document to guide your energy management practices and provides
continuity.
➢ It is in the company's best interest that support for energy management is expressed in
a formal written declaration of commitment accompanied by a set of stated objectives, an
action plan for achieving them, and a clear specification of responsibilities.

13. Write short notes on Net Present Value.

➢ The net present value method considers the time value of money. Discounting is the
opposite process to compounding. Compounding determines the future value of present
cash flows, whereas discounting determines the present value of future cash flows

➢ The net present value (NPV) of a project is equal to the sum of the present values of
all the cash flows associated with it. Symbolically
Where NPV = Net Present Value
CFt = Cash flow occurring at the end of year ‘t’ (t=0,1,….n)
n = life of the project; k = Discount rate

➢ Discount rate (k) employed for evaluating the present value of the expected future
cash flows should reflect the risk of the project.

14. What do you understand about ESCOs?

ESCOs are usually companies that provide a complete energy project service, from
assessment to design to construction or installation, along with engineering and project
management services, land financing.

15. What is the need for a monitoring system?

Energy monitoring systems provide users with data about their consumption patterns so
they can make informed energy management decisions and maximize savings.

16. Describe the duties and responsibilities of Energy Manager.

Responsibilities of an Energy manager: (6 Marks)
➢ prepare an annual activity plan and present to management concerning financially
attractive investments to reduce energy costs

energy consumption directly or indirectly.
➢ Prepare information material and conduct internal workshops about the topic for other
staff.
➢ Improve disaggregating of energy consumption data down to shop level or profit center
of a firm.

of various products/services or activity of the firm.

What is national action plan on climate change? Describe the eight national mission
of the national action plan.
National Action Plan on Climate Change: (4 Marks)

➢ NAPCC - National Action Plan on Climate Change.

➢ India is faced with the challenge of sustaining its rapid economic growth while dealing
with the global threat of climate change.

➢ This threat comes from accumulated man-made greenhouse gas emission in the
atmosphere generated through long term, intensive industrial growth and high
consumption lifestyle.

➢ India is very vulnerable to climate: floods, droughts, vector borne disease, cyclones,
ocean storm surges, etc.

➢ NAPCC document was released in 2008 and it identifies measures to advance India’s
development without affecting climate change related adaptation and mitigation.
8 National Missions of the National Action Plan: (8 Marks)
1. National Solar Mission is being launched to significantly increase the share of solar
energy in the total energy mix as well to increase the use of other renewable and non-
fossil fuel options such as nuclear energy, wind energy and biomass.
2. National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency The Energy Conservation Act of
2001 provides a legal mandate for the implementation of the energy efficiency measures
through the institutional mechanism of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)
3. National Mission on Sustainable Habitat is planned to make habitat sustainable
through improvements in energy efficiency of buildings, management of solid waste and
shift to public transport.
4. National Water Mission focuses on ensuring integrated water resource management to
conserve water, minimize wastages and ensuring equitable distribution across and within
States.
5. National Mission for Sustaining the Himalayan Ecosystem This mission focuses on
sustaining and safeguarding the Himalayan glacier and mountain ecosystem.
6. National Mission for Green India will focus on enhancement of ecosystem services
including carbon sinks. Green India campaign is already being launched for afforestation
of 6 million hectares.
7. National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture: The Mission aims to make Indian
agriculture more resilient to climate change.
8. National Mission for Strategic Knowledge on Climatic Change Mission would identify
challenges and responses to climatic change through enlisting global community in
research, technology development and collaboration.

➢ Changing the project life

Macro factors: (3 Marks)

➢ Changes in interest rates
➢ Changes in the tax rates
➢ Changes in depreciation rates
➢ if the government changes the salary scales
➢ Imposition of regulations on environmental issues
➢ Energy Price change
➢ Technology changes
