Wine Industry Analysis
The US winery industry had a growth rate of 4.7% between 2006 and 2011, and is expected to grow
by a rate of 4.9% over the next five years [ (IBISWorld) ]. In California alone an average of 175
wineries have opened every year since 2000 [ (Richard Green) ]. The states of New York and
Virginia have been major players in the US wineindustry. The data shows that the demand for wine
has been increasing at an exponential rate over the past 5 years. Average annual revenue for the
wine industry is expected to be estimated at $20.2 billion through 2016 [ (IBISWorld) ]. The
growth of the wine industry, particularly over the past 10 years, can be attributed to a few key
drivers in the market. Per capita consumption of alcohol has increased... Show more content on

These wineries would import large amounts of wine in bulk, and then bottle the wine in the US.
This allowed the larger wineries to sell their wine at a considerably cheaper price, hurting the
smaller domestic wineries. In 2011, the import market share in wine was roughly 26.5% [
(IBISWorld) ]. The amount of foreign wine entering the US has been on the rise ever since it was
named the largest consumer of wine in the world. Foreign producers, who are experiencing a
decline in business in their home country, are looking for new markets to sell their product.
Countries such as Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand are able to produce their wine at
a lower cost than the US. The import of these wines has heated up the competition in the US
creating benefits for the US wine consumer. The superior quality of the imported wines has also
changed consumers thinking as far as how much should be spent on a good wine. The immediate
future looks promising for the wine industry. In 2012, the industry is expected to grow by 4.4%,
and will only increase through 2016 [ (IBISWorld) ]. The wine industry relies on a three tier
distribution system. The producers sell to the wholesalers, who then sell to the retailers. The
national sales tier consists of suppliers who sell to a wholesale distributor [ (Tincknell amp;

The Importance Of Cord Clamping
The issue of the timing of cord clamping is not something I am familiar with. I researched cord
clamping for the facility I am employed by. The standard operating procedure has no specific
information regarding the timing of placing the clamps. The policy states that if no nuchal cord is
felt the first step is to guide the delivery of the head of the newborn to prevent sudden delivery of
the head and tearing of the perineum. Next, clamp cord with two clamps, one approximately 2 3
inches from the newborn s umbilicus and the other approximately 5 6 inches from this one. There is
no time frame provided in the procedure. When speaking with the director I was told it is dependent
on physicianpreference and the hospital has no specific guideline.... Show more content on

This delayed clamping is associated with improved outcomes for the neonate. Hill and Fontenot
(2014) stated, Healthy, full term infants who experienced delayed cord clamping were found to
have significantly higher birth weights, elevated hemoglobin concentrations immediately post
birth and increased iron reserves lasting up to 6 months post birth (p. 414). The risks related to a
delay in cord clamping were also included. Some of the risks found to be associated with delayed
cord clamping are interfering with resuscitation efforts, impeding attempts to bank cord blood, and
a correlation with the occurrence of jaundice (Hill and Fontenot, 2014, p. 414). The studies found
the majority of clamping occurs immediately after birth. More information and education must be
provided to health care professionals regarding the potential benefits of delayed cord clamping.
Further research must be conducted to reinforce the benefits of a delay in cord clamping and when
a delay in cord clamping is not
Sarah Winchester Research Paper
Sarah Winchester was born on September 1839 in New Haven, Connecticut. She was an American
heiress who inherited a gun company called the Winchester Repeating Arms Company in which she
became one of the wealthiest women in the world during that time. Sarah inherited 20 million
dollars and about 50% of the company after her husband, William Wirt Winchester, died of
pulmonary tuberculosis. Long before her husband s death, she gave birth to her only daughter,
Annie Pardee Winchester, but died of marasmus which is a disease in which the body wastes away.
The deaths of her husband and daughter left her to grieve and at some point, in a state of madness.
Sarah Winchester is known as the person behind the construction of the Haunted Winchester Mystery
House. Sarah s husband took over a firm that created the Volcanic Repeater, a rifle that was improved

She started the construction of her house and hired the carpenters that would work for the next
36 years on the house. For 24 hours each day, the workers never stopped building the house and
noises of the hammers and saws could be heard day and night. The house kept expanding since
every morning Sarah shared her plans of the construction with the workers. If the plan did not
succeed, they would have a solution like for example they would build another room around the
existing room. The house is known for its unique and weird ways the rooms were built. For
example, there are many staircases that lead to the ceiling, closets that open to walls, doors that
open outside so if someone isn t careful, they may fall stories high. The reason that the house is
built different is to confuse the vengeful spirits. In 1906, the San Francisco earthquake struck and
almost trapped Sarah inside a room that she slept in. This event gave her the idea that the
earthquake was a sign from spirits who were angry at her because she
Diamonds, The Embodiment Of Esteem And Romance
Diamonds, the embodiment of esteem and romance. Millions of years ago, high temperatures
and pressure in earth s mantle gave birth to a dazzling gem, a gem that would be loved and adored
by many people. It would be put on ornaments and crowns, become the center piece of many
jewelry, become the highest symbol of esteem, and even be compared to the stars. People would
spend entire paychecks, even a month s, or a year s worth of salary, on trying to acquire it. And in
today s world, it s even become the norm in expressing love. For men it s become a ritual, to invest
in the biggest diamondthey can afford, and put on the person they love. Looking at these norms, you
have to ask, why is it that we love diamonds so much? Why is it that people spend thousands if not
millions in trying to procure this shiny rock? Is it because it s just human nature to love shiny things
we can make ornaments out of? Or is there another reason for our astounding love for it, a more
malicious and covert reason, one that involves a masterful marketing campaign, and human
consumerism conditioning, to create a market where there isn t one. The latter, unfortunately is
more akin to reality than you would think. And for it to all make sense one would have to look at the
history of the consumer demand of diamonds, and their usage throughout their long history.
Diamonds weren t always used as adornments or jewelry pieces and many believe, in fact since
ancient times to even the middle ages,
Eassy On Roundworm Essay
Toxocariasis is commonly known as the Roundworm Infection. With this species there are four
different approaches of acquiring infection. Possible ways of infection include direct transmission
(straight eating the eggs within stool), prenatal transmission (contamination while in utero),
paratenic transmission (the transmission can occur with a and transmammary transmission (can be
spread through the mammary glands like breastfeeding and placenta). Egg are left in the feces of
dogs, from there they can be spread between 2 4 weeks. When dogs eat infectious eggs it allows
the eggs to hatch and the larval form of the parasite to penetrate through the gut wall. In younger
dogs, the larvae can travel via bloodstream by piercing a bloodvessel in the gut wall. Once ingested,
the eggs hatch, and the larvae enter the wall of the small intestine. Once larvae become mobile they
can migrate through the host via circulatory system into the respiratory system into other organs and
tissues within the body. When they enter the body they can become encyst (pretty... Show more

The larvae will simply undergo a dormant stage within an intermediate host until they are in a dog
again. The development of the larva into worm is restricted to the gastrointestinal tract of a dog. If
the parasite finds itself inside a human through ingestion of the infective eggs, it does not exactly
have a sense of direction. That s right if a person eats egg infested poop, once the eggs hatch the
larva or worms will meander wherever they feel like going. That means if they want to take a trip
through the bloodstream and capillaries, lungs, or if they want to harbor in the brain, liver or eye
they can. The most common infestation in the human body leaves mild symptoms, but once in the
eye the effects can be local inflammation partial blindness or complete blindness. Nerve endings can
become damaged if tampered
Stereotypes In The Color Purple
In the 19th century, Alice Walker wrote about a young girl who was discovering her true strength
and pushing through all of the obstacles presented to her. The novel describes Celie s life and all of
the dominant people she is introduced to. Celie represents the idea that no matter where someone is
from, they can amount to anything they truly want. The Color Purpleintroduces the disruption of
genderroles throughout the novel, and how they affect Celie s growth as a person.
During the 19th century, women typically had no say in society, especially in domestic situations.
This way of life is front and center in The Color Purple, so when the character Sofia was introduced,
Celie was definitely intrigued. Throughout the beginning of the ... Show more content on

She begins to refer to herself as a tree because anything she does is frowned upon, so not doing
anything is preferred. After Shug arrives, Celie has her first encounter with a beautiful,
promiscuous woman. Compared to anyone, let alone Shug, Celie is an extremely shy and
diplomatic character. So when Shug refers to Mr. _____ as weak, she is surprised that a woman
would have the audacity to speak that way. Shug acts as an opposing force to gender roles
because she is so willing to push the boundaries of life and announce all of the flaws people
possess. During that time era, men were automatically considered the dominant role in a
relationship. By talking about a man being flawed, showed Celie that nobody is perfect. Shug s
descriptions of Mr. ____ allow Celie to interpret life in a new way, instead of being confined by
the mainstream ways of thinking. Recognizing the existence of these alternatives gives Celie a
sense of control and is an important step in her move toward independence. Shug s defiance
affects Celie s confidence and inspires her to stand up for herself. Celie s assertion of herself
comes forcefully, when she breaks through her silence and lets go of all her built up anger. She tells
him that until he fixes what he has done, everything he touches will crumble. It shows that her
confidence is higher than ever and she is no longer a helpless object. She accepts
How Are Salt Used In Chinese Culture
There are many different forms of money that have been used by different cultures throughout the
world. One example of this would be salt which was not only used with food, but was a form of
money used by many ancient civilizations. Sodium chloride commonly known salt has many
different uses rather than just using it in food. Salt was used for religious offerings and for trade
between the Phoenicians and their Mediterranean Empire. It was used as a form of salary for many
Roman soldiers. Furthermore, the Chinese believed that taxing salt would help the economy and
was another way that salt played a major role in the Chinese culture. Salt was used in everyday life

Peppercorns are a type of fruit that has a seed inside the fruit flesh. There are many different types
of peppercorns such as black, green, pink, and white peppercorns which are used to add spice to a
food item. Peppercorns are widely known for their spice and taste but that is not the only thing that
peppers are known for, they were known as a form of money and have many other uses An example
of this would be the Egyptians who used to stuff the nostrils of the dead with peppercorns. The
Egyptians used to do this to keep the nose of the deceased from flattening while they were
wrapping them to make a mummy (Hays, 3). Furthermore, peppercorns were and are still used in
a very old system of Ayurveda to help treat sickness. There are many other systems that use
peppercorns to cure other diseases. Peppercorns have multiple uses like trade, in the Middle Ages
the Dutch, the Portuguese used pepper as a purpose of trading. Pepper was and still is a valuable
spice but, earlier pepper was so valuable that the people who worked with pepper had to wear
uniforms without any pockets to stop the workers from stealing the pepper. The peppercorns
themselves are fascinating but their history if even more
