Simbolos El Principito

Maritime War Essay
Maritime wars took a noteworthy change amid the common war. On March 8 1862 the
Confederates revealed a ship that would change maritime fighting everlastingly, making wooden
body ship outdated. The Confederates set two layers of steel plate over the structure of the
Merrimack , situated ten firearms along its side and included a smash her bow. This resilient ship
in its first fight, in the harbor of Hampton Roads assaulted five Union boats. The Merrimack
renamed the Virginia sank one Union boat, exploded another ship, and made a third run ashore.
No shots could infiltrate her shield. The unexpected thing was the Merrimack was left to sink
after the Union naval force cut gaps into it. The Virginia s grandness did not keep going long. She
was a frigate that was surrendered by the Union naval force, and adjusted with steel by the
Confederates naval force. She was a moderate boat controlled by two old motors. It took thirty
minutes just to turn her around. Three months earlier from the assault at Hampton Roads harbor
the Union naval force was building an iron clad boat they could call their own, the Screen .
Composed by John Ericsson, this boat was assembled without any preparation in just three months.
This boat included a spinning turret, had two eleven inch weapons and was controlled by an
assistant steam motor. She was twice as quick as the Virginia and a great deal more flexibility. On
March 9, the day after the triumph of the Virginia at Hampton Roads
The Literary Analysis Of Melanie Safka s Music
Melanie Safka s relationship with fame expressed through literary devices
Melanie Safka grew up in a time of violent political upheaval. Melanie first encountered prejudice
on the playground in her hometown of Brooklyn as other children teased her for her unusual last
name. Melanie was close to her uncles who often participated in civil rights protests. In 1963 JFK
was assassinated. The young Brooklyn native graduated high school in 1964, the same year as
the New York Race Riots which by their end had caused hundreds of injuries and 450 arrests. As
she took the international stage in 1969 with Bobo s party people continued to fight for civil
liberties after the victories of the civil rights movement. She was one of three solo women to
perform at Woodstock in 1969. And in 1972 as Watergate broke in newspapers the Female Bob
Dylan received Billboard s no. 1 Top Female Vocalist award. As a young woman in the spotlight
and a leader in the culture surrounding folk music, she cared deeply about the social issues of her
time and her urgent ballads (that) bind you to her with invisible threads of emotion. (Edwin Miller,
Seventeen Magazine) reflect that. Keenly aware of her ability to affect change, the long haired girl
was constantly concerned with what she could do to help those around her. Using various literary
devices Melanie Safka expresses in her music a fear of losing herself to fame.
Melanie uses juxtaposition in her music to express what she fears in regards to fame,
The Process Of Decision Making
The process of decision making can be easily understood as selecting one course of action over
other courses actions available. There are also steps that are involved in making decisions. These
steps include: (1) pinpointing the problem; (2) identifying the cause; (3) setting objectives; (4)
formulating alternative courses of action; (5) evaluating alternatives against organizational
objectives; (6) choosing the best course of action; and (7) implementing and evaluating the
decision (Holzer and Schwester 2011). Now while these mentioned steps of making decisions
seem extensive they are generally how decisions are made. Also in decision making there are
numerous amounts of models that emerge and try to explain how all decisions in administrations
are made. With decision making comes actors who implement and enforce the results of these
decisions. With regards to the topic intended for this essay, the actor is the American administration
and their implementation of policies regarding the recent outbreak of Ebola and how these
administrators are enforcing policies with respect to the public. This paper specifically will revolve
around Graham Allison s three decision making models in his book Essence of Decision Making:
Explaining Cuban Missile Crisis and the way his models analyze the decision making process.
Allison s three different models will give us different lenses to look at and analyze how the American
administration is handling the Ebola situation here in the United
Case Study Of Blu-Ray
Introduction and Purpose
We are discussing two fascinating case studies in this essay. Firstly we will discuss the important
topic of Dominant Design and look at the case study of Blu Ray to demonstrate the significance of
how multidimensional a new technology value offers a customer and how it rises to dominance.
The purpose of this essay is to explain the factors behind consumers, retailers and movie producers
support towards Blu Ray versus HD DVD and discuss the criteria behind selection of the former
being a dominant design.
We then discuss the important topic of Collaboration networks between two or more companies
and the significance of business marriages for innovation purposes in order to attain more at a
faster rate as well as reduce risk. We look closely at companies such as Dyesol, a shining example
of successful collaborations and others who face challenges of growth and sustainability irrespective
of whether they are on their own or with partner/partners.
The purpose of the second part of the essay is to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of
collaborating with external partners and justifying it with the help of the Dyesol case study.
Essentially, understanding the significance of how external sources such as scientific, technical and

dimensional and is significantly affected by the installed base and availability of complimentary
The Conflict Between Inflation And Unemployment
Inflation in particular is likely to occur when growth is above the long run trend rate and the
aggregated demand increases faster than aggregated supply. China and India are two countries where
this combination of strong economic growth and rising inflation has been seen in recent years. In
2010, China grew by 9.8% but her inflationrate was 4.9% and rising. India grew by 8.6% but her
inflation rate was 8.3%. Persistently higher rates of inflation can then have negative effects on
international trade performance, business profits and jobs and ultimately economic growth. When
you attempt to control inflation by raising interest rates it may cause the exchange rate to appreciate
and this can have a damaging effect on demand in the export industries. Now the conflict between
inflation and unemployment is a little different. During a period of strong GDP growth, falling
unemployment will create a demand ‐pull and cost ‐push inflation leading to a decline in the real
purchasing power of money. There are policies designed to control demand ‐pull or cost ‐push
inflation for example by reducing aggregated demand but may lead to a contraction of output and a
rise in unemployment. Similar to how inflation can conflict with unemployment, deflation may also
lead to a rise in unemployment.
There are some policies in place to help if this was to happen. The fiscal and monetary policies are
used as tools to keep the economy stable. Monetary policy is primarily concerned
Science Technology Essay
Science Technology company case
After reviewing the financial forecast from Science Technology Company and Semiconductor
industry market situation, I concluded that 30% annual growth is not feasible, optimistic growth
forecast is 15% .Because world semiconductor shipment kept growing, but not just semiconductor
market but electronic products market was also dominated large market by Japanese
manufacturers. If the company carried on with the same profit/cost structure, the company s ROA
would be 5% more or less in next 5 years, EPS would be 0.44 0.97 and stock price would goes down
to less $10 less $20. I can assume that there is no additional stock issuance. As of 1984, the ROA is
5.6%, EPS 0.57 and stock price $13 $37.

Major semiconductor market was in Japan (more than 50%). Japanese semiconductor supplier
dominated Japanese market due to its exclusive market structure and started to increased market
shares in US market, but US supplier could not do so.
3. Demands for testers from Semiconductor customer
Higher speed to go into manufacturing a new design products required more testability. To find out
detective/reject before mounting on the board, to spot early production stage and ATE increased its
presence in production. Sales in total ATE $359 (1978) to $1.6billion (1984) 28% /year growth,
expected $4billion in 1988 at 26% compound annual growth rare.
4 .Growth driver
・More semiconductor was built in more electronic products and its shipment kept growing
・Labor rate increase required automate testing operation to reduce labor cost.
・Specialization, work division due to more complexity and high cost to develop semiconductor
device tester
・Improvement of testing technology and tested devices change
・After inflation settled, interest rate decreased and corporate income tax would reduce from 46% to
34% in 1986 to stimulate more investment.
・Semiconductor agreement between Japan and USA due to lobbying and US government put
pressure to Japanese government to open Japanese market.
・National project SEMATECH started to recover the position in semiconductor market.
・Plaza Agreement in 1985 allowed weak US dollar and advantaged export increase.

Analysis Of Miss Lonelyhearts And The Day Of The Locust
In Miss Lonelyhearts and The Day of the Locust, each character experiences suffering, and in each
case the suffering is ridiculed. Schadenfreude is a basic human experience; human beings do find
humor in other s misfortune. Society is so accustomed to the feeling of schadenfreude that hardly
anyone knows exactly where it comes from or how distasteful it is. Society feeds schadenfreude of
physical pain by letting it reside throughout comedy. Almost every comedic movie, show, song,
sketch or any other form of entertainment is cluttered with people being hurt. Harry Greener s clown
show in The Day of the Locust is completely centered around his pain. When he stands up, the
audience, which failed to laugh at his joke, laughs at his limp, so he continues lame for the rest of
the act, (West, The Day 78). The entire comedy genre thrives off of schadenfreude. Perhaps this is
because the audience knows that the subject is not truly hurt, so it becomes funny to see people
such as Curly, Moe, and Larry beat each other. Perhaps it is because people use laughter as a shield
against pain. When people see pain they laugh to make it seem that it did not actually hurt. It is a
product of empathy for him who was hurt. Laughter serves to camouflage embarrassment which is
included in empathy. The ways in which characters receive injuries are usually embarrassing, and the
audience feels the embarrassment causing them to laugh.
Schadenfreude is embedded in human emotions such as envy,
##aw s Use Of Religious Themes In The Poetry Of Richard...
Richard Crashaw was an English poet who wrote his poetry in the tradition of Continental baroque.
Continental baroque was a way of writing literature in a more vivid and visual way. Crashaw often
uses elaborate detail and vivid description. Another major influence in the poetry of Crashaw is the
use of religious themes. Crashaw was heavily influenced by the Counter Reformation. He was a
converted Roman Catholic, whose religious beliefs often caused him strife and forced him to
constantly relocate. Crashaw often revised his poems, adding more detail and length. His poetry
tends to be long, yet when revised, Crashaw always felt the need to add more description. Crashaw
became a priest of the Church of England in 1639 (Greenblatt, Stephen). He then became a college
lecturer and wrote many sermons that read like poems. Religionwas a major influence for Crashaw.
When Puritans occupied his home of Cambridge, they were so violent that Crashaw was forced to
flee for his life. He traveled to Paris, and converted to Roman Catholicism in 1645 (Greenblatt,
Stephen). Another religious influence is the Jesuit religion and material he had studied. This
influence can be found in the poem Music s Duel from The Delights of the Muses. Crashaw
actually felt that Jesuit material was compatible with his religious views, and a nationalistic
language (Healy, Thomas F). Being that Crashaw was from England, and was originally a Priest for
the English Church, he was heavily influence by his
Stainless Steel Hooks Research Paper
Stainless steel hoses serve a variety of functions in an industrial setting, and if you are starting a
business that will need these hoses, there is a good chance that you may not be that familiar with
what these hoses need to stay in good condition. Utilizing the following couple of tips will help you
to avoid some routine errors that can cause problems for your enterprise s steel hoses.

Conduct A Leak Check

Regardless of whether your hoses are carrying liquid or gas, it is important to perform regular leak
checks to make sure the hoses integrity has not been compromised. A small leak can indicate an
area of general weakness in the hoses, which could place them at a risk of exploding or rupturing.

To perform a leak check, you will need

Critique Of John Maynard Keynes s Theory Of Demand For Money
CRITIQUE OF KEYNES THEORY OF DEMAND FOR MONEY.
Demand is the amount of goods and services that consumers are willing and able to buy at a
particular price and place. It is the desire to purchase goods and services. Money is anything that is
generally accepted as a means of payment for goods and services in a particular place. Several
theories have been derived concerning the demand for money. Some of the economists that have
postulated theories concerning demand for money includes: Irving Fisher, the Cambridge cash
balance approach (put forward by Pigou and Marshall), Keynes theory, Milton Friedman s theory and
so on. But this deals with the critique on the theory of demand for money by Keynes. Before one
knows the critique to a theory, the theory needs to be understood itself. John Maynard Keynes wrote
a book titled, The General Theory of employment, interest and money and here he gave in detail
theory of demand for money. The theory postulated by Keynes is basically an extended version of
the Cambridge Cash Balance approach. According to him, the demand for money is not the actual
money balances held by people but what amount of money balances they want to hold. He believed
people were not suffering from money illusion. Keynes said the demand for money depends on three
motives. These are: transactions, precautionary and speculative motives.

It takes a while before asset or stock can be converted into liquid cash. This makes people hold
liquid cash so that they are relieved from that stress and also ensuring that money is readily available.
Precautionary Motive: This is the demand for money for unforeseen situations and events. An
example of an unforeseen situation is an accident or an opportunity to invest in financial assets.
Some people hold money to meet up with emergencies that may occur while carrying out certain
