Reflective Essay On Religious Literacy
In a world where information can be found at our finger tips, there is still a large deficit in
understanding when it comes to literacy. Although possessing the ability to read and write is
valuable, it is simply not enough. The truth of the matter is that having the ability to read and write
is worth nothing if one does not understand what he or she is reading and writing. As a result of my
childhood experiences, religious literacyis possessing a basic understanding of one s individual
religion, and having the capacity to internalize what certain teachings and beliefs means to them. In a
narrative of my literary experiences, these moments regarding religion shaped my capacity to read,
write, and comprehend. I simply want to share my Catholic faith. Not to convince you or to convert
you, but simply to share what the Catholic traditions and beliefs mean to me.
Sitting in a classroom filled with several maps of the world, vast spines of colorful books, and
watching the clock hit the next hour, there is nothing more that a seven year old would rather do
than be stuck sitting in a desk for eight hours of the day. Looking back to when I was young and
learning about the history and background of the church, I was illiterate. According to Bud Heckman
s definition, religious literacy is the understanding of the profound role that religions plays in human
social, cultural, and political life in both contemporary and historical contexts (2). Learning about
religion seemed
How Being Confident Helps You Overcome Poverty Essay
What it takes to be the best People are losing the will to push past the obstacles in their lives. When
things get hard, they decide to throw in the towel and call it quits. Finding that power within to
survive during what could be some of the hardest times in someone s life can be difficult. People
need to see other people continuing to push when they have nothing left to give. Who is going to be
the personto choose to survive instead of giving in? Resilience and an inner drive are key to
surviving. With resilience a survivor can push past hardships. Choosing to continue when things get
hard is choosing to not give in to the struggles one has come to. When someone is struggling from
something big like poverty, it can take motivation to get them to try... Show more content on

The article How Being Confident Helps you Overcome Poverty states that, If you ve failed again
and again in school, relationships, in jobs you carry a great burden as you try to pick yourself up
and perform well in education or at work (Shipler). The situation does not need to be a life
changing challenge for someone to want to get past it. Failing many times can have a negative
impact on someone and can cause someone to give up easier. Being resilient is key in facing the
hardships in one s life. In the novel Miracle in the Andes by Nando Parrado, the survivors of the
plane crash have to find resilience to survive day by day. When a group of three people from the
crash leave the fuselage Nando finds it difficult to keep going. He says, The world was showing
me how tiny I was, how weak and insignificant. And temporary. I listened to my own breathing,
reminding myself that as long as I drew breath I was alive (Parrado 195). It can be hard to keep
going when it feels the world is twisting over itself but those are the times when pushing to one s
limit is even more important. A survivor feels like they accomplished so much more when it was
Character Analysis Of Hazel Grace Augustus
The protagonist is Hazel Grace Lancaster. She is a dynamic character. An example that is the fact
that at the beginning of novel she wants to distance herself from society. Then she meets Augustus
Waters. Augustus has the view of that everyone matters using metaphor to explain it. By the end of
the novelshe realizes that it s ok to let people in and that everyone will die eventually but you have
live your life to the fullest. She s also a is a round characteras we get a lot of insight on her option
and life.

The antagonist of the story is not a person but cancer itself. The cancer limits the activities that
Hazel and Augustus can do. People constantly judge hazel for her oxygen tank just because she s
different the reason cancer is the antagonist is because it prevents all the main characters from what
society defines as normal teen lives.

You could also say the antagonist could be Augustus Waters. The rasin for this is the fact the before
hazel meet Augustus she was trying to not impact anyone in her life. Her main goal was to live
without hurting anyone but Augustus get in her way.

Hazel grace Lancaster is one of the main characters in fault in are stars. We watch her physical
grow weaker an example is at the beginning of the book she takes the stares and at the end she
takes the elevator at her support group. The book is really about her mentally and philosophical
grow and understand especially concerning death. At the beginning as I have stated she is
obsessed with what negative effect she will have on people around her when she dies and refuses
to get close to anyone. Also referring to herself as a grenade multiple times during the novel. A
good word to describe Hazel is a brutally honest person.she knows that cancer doesn t define her.
Unlike a lot of people she has no fluff when she talks about cancer an example is at the beginning of
the novel when she says:Whenever you read a cancer booklet or website or whatever, they always
list depression among the side effects of cancer. But in fact, depression is not a side effect of cancer.
Depression is a side effect of dying. This honest approach is what keeps her going but also makes
her very lonely. Hazel is also very humorous. I like her
Reassess The Food Service System Essay
The aim of this proposal is to reassess the food service process in provided within a hospital. It is
essential that the hospital s food service system requirements for all the nutrients and calories
needed to restore and maintain the health of all patients. Implementing these changes will require a
health care leader who will articulate well defined, clear objectives and measures and will
incorporate a timeline and standards for the revised foodservice system(Dye, 2010). Food service in
hospitals is changing by moving away from the traditional tray line system, in which trays move
along an assembly line, to room service, thus allowing in patients to choose nutritious meals. The
health care industry is ever more competitive, and hospitals are now recognizing patients as
customers, and seeking ways to influence patients satisfaction scores during a hospitalstay (K. Kim,
M. Kim Lee 2010). In this proposal, the objectives of the value stream mapping in figure 1 are to
strategically identify and remove waste, cut costs, reduce labor, and increase patient satisfaction
scores, while providing nutritious meals. A Rapid Process Improvement Workshop (RPIW) will
include staff from the call center, cooks, food prepares, dietitians, food delivery personnel, nursing
managers, staff from finance, and administration, and customers who filled out a food survey to give
their perspective. Each team member can provide insight into some important processes that may or
may not be

Section 2. Outline
There are a number of ways to outline a paper, and the Walden Writing Center has a page
dedicated to this if you want to learn more: http://writingcenter.waldenu.edu/318.htm. Below you
will be taken through a step by step process to fill in sections of an outline in the boxes below. Of
course most outlines won t look like this (no boxes and no instructions on exactly what should go
where), but hopefully this will give you an idea of how an outline should look so that you can use
the idea of outlining in your future papers. Please be sure to write in complete sentences in the
designated boxes below.

Outlines will normally use Roman Numerals (I, II, III and so forth). After the numbers, letters are
used (A, B, C and so forth). Basic rules say that if you have a I , then you need to have a II, and if
you have an A, then you must have a B. We will follow this format:
I.I.Introduction
II.II.Body
III.III.Conclusion
So, you already have the first section, the introduction, of this outline done. Below you will fill in
some parts about the body of the outline. The body refers to the majority of the paper. Be sure to
follow the directions within each box.

The Jazz Singer
The Jazz Singer, released in 1927, is a black and white film that centers on a young man who wishes
to conquer his dreams in becoming a professional jazz singer. This film, directed by Alan Crosland,
demonstrates new developments from the decade of the 1920 s. During the decade, many new
advances; such as the introduction of musicals and other technological advancements, were created.
The Jazz Singerutilized these new advances of the decade and incorporated them into each scene.
This is evident due to the elements of being the first talkie film, the introduction of the new musical
genre and the introduction of the Hollywood stars system. By utilizing the new advances of the
decade, Crosland s film, changed the way cinema would be seen... Show more content on

The 1920 s was the era of many new technological developments. Two major breakthroughs were
the introduction of sound and musicals in cinema. In the early 1920 s, musicals were very
popular in the theatre and, especially, on Broadway. Therefore, once sound was introduced in
films, it was only a matter of time until musicals would be introduced in films. The Jazz Singer is
an excellent example of the introduction of both these elements. The 1920 s were Broadway s
busiest decade, with as many as fifty new musicals opening in a single season. [...] With so much
demand, it was a time of extraordinary artistic development in the musical theatre (Kenrick). A
musical is a play or film in which singing and dancing play an essential part (Definition of musical
in English). Because Crosland introduced these elements into his film, he was the first to introduce
musicals into the cinema field. The huge demand for The Jazz Singer was unexpected, and caused
other studios to begin to produce sound films of their own to capitalize on what at the time they saw
as a fad (1920s Movies). The introduction to sound and musicals on screen was such a big
advancement at the time that other studios wanted to invest in the new technology.
Finally, The Jazz Singer is a feature film that introduces the new Hollywood stars concept. In the
early 1920 s the Hollywood stars system developed; meaning that actors where

According to Jonathan Salem (2009), a global brand strategist, Innocent s branding brilliance is its
unconventional marketing which is considered ethical as it gives lots of money away and
maintains a cuddly tone in its adds, on its website and even on its labels. This way it has no doubt
delighted its customers with its straightforward approach to business using a simple down to earth
communications technique that mirrors the honesty of the brand and its products. The product is
also successful as in today s busy working lifestyle people want to be healthy but don t have time
and look for quick options in ready made food and drinks that are healthy. People today are also
very health conscious and want to eat healthy so innocent provide a great option being 100% natural
with good taste at the same time.

Over a year ago, Innocent invested with Coca Cola. They sold a minority stake of between 10% and
20% in order to raise funds so it could expand into Europe. This has been a good decision for the
company as the business has grown in Europe over the last year by the help of Coke (Innocent
Drinks 2009).

The rational goal model emphasises control and an external focus and views planning, goal setting,
productivity and efficiency as effective. Innocent employ experts in all areas from web designers to
nutritionists to sales representatives which means everyone works in their specialized field to get the
best possible outcomes for the company. This is important as in some
