The Development of the Travel and Tourism Industry

Throughout history, people have travelled across Britain for purposes of trade, education, religion
and to fight in battles. It was not until the eighteenth century, however, that the foundations of what
we now regard as the British tourist industry began to be laid. ... Show more content on

The rise of seaside resorts

In 1752 Dr Richard Russell published Concerning the Use of Sea Water which led to an increase in
seaside resorts as doctors began to realise that the healing and relaxing minerals that were present in
spa waters were also to be found in the sea. Resorts such as Southend, Brighton and Blackpool began
to increase in popularity. Accommodation, catering and entertainment facilities were developed in
the resorts, some of which benefited from the introduction of steamboat services in the early
nineteenth century, a factor that led to the contribution of many of the piers still seen at seaside
resorts today.

The introduction of holiday camps

The first purpose built holiday camp was opened by Billy Butlin in 1936 at Skegness. Holiday
camps worked on the simple principle that if the children were happy on holiday then the parents
would be happy as well. Holiday camps provided entertainment and activities for both parents and
children at a low, all inclusive rate with the added bonus of a child minding service to allow the
parents to enjoy themselves. Butlin s and Warners became market leaders in this type of holiday
which still survives to this day.

Increasing car ownership

The increase of car ownership after the Second World War provided individuals with greater
freedom and flexibility in the use of their leisure time. People travelled
The Tempest Feminist Analysis
The Undermining Power of Masculinity in The Tempest The more people argue loudly, against
feminism, the more they prove we need it Caitlin Moran, How to Be A WomanSycorax is
ostensibly absent from Shakespeare s The Tempest. The witch does not appear on stage once, as
she dies long before the actions of the play begin. She is, however, invoked frequently, through
memories and retellings and secondhand accounts, primarily by the character of Prospero. Many
critics have used Sycorax s absence as undisputable proof that The Tempest, with few traditionally
powerful female characters, is, at its core, an anti feminist play. However, while it may seem as
though the easiest way to absolve women of their power is to exclude women from the... Show more

To further manipulate Ariel by invoking Sycorax, Prospero adds, Refusing her grand hests, she
did confine thee...and in her most unmitigable rage / Into a cloven pine (1.2.322 25). It seems as
though Prospero creates or at least embellishes what Ariel knows firsthand about Sycorax. But
Prospero lacks firsthand observation or concrete evidence about Sycorax; thus, Prospero
constructs Sycorax as simply his opposite and tool. Because Prospero never knew Sycorax, his
detailed descriptions of her can only be his own construction, which he manipulates for his
benefit, specifically to legitimize his power. The more emphatically Prospero tries to demonize
Sycorax s powers, the more he evokes her permeating presence. For any structure to be created
and sustained, it is necessary to have an other on the opposite side thus, by damning Sycorax,
Prospero does two things; a) solidifies Sycorax as the other or a competitor, and b) confirms the
existence of a structure or ulterior motive in this case, patriarchal power. Thus, the implicit power
struggle, which seems to be gendered, between Sycorax and Prospero is revealed. Although Sycorax
is dead, Prospero s struggle to be the stronger power is an undercurrent throughout the play. There are
some commonalities between their powers,
Janice Mirikitani Suicide Note
The poem, Suicide Note by Janice Mirikitani is very similar to the song, Jumper by Third Eye
Blind but differentiates in many ways, also. These two pieces of work are very much similar in
the way their themes are expressed through the use of imagery and symbolism to help tell their
story about suicide and how it has affected them. The two pieces also differentiate when it comes
to who is actually narrating the story and the tone of voice being used. There is a lot of
relationship between the themes of the poem, Suicide Note and the song, Jumper . Both of these
works seem to correlate with the overall theme of suicide. The poem, Suicide Note , reflects on the
tragedy of certain cultures where women are so degraded and devalued that they

In experiment one, fifty men and fifty women that were undergrad psychology students served as
subjects. Ten subjects of each gender were randomly assigned to see one of five videos that varied in
violent content. The main dependent variable in the first experiment was the number of aggressive
thoughts listed by the subject immediately after watching the video. The second dependent variable
was the subject s violence rating of the video they viewed. Immediately after viewing the video,
each subject filled out a set of 5 point rating scales indicating the degree to which the video had
been enjoyable, amusing, realistic, and violent. They found that, aggressive thoughts and violence
ratings both increased with the level of violence in the video which supported the hypothesis.
Experiment 2 allowed a test of the replicability of the findings of Experiment 1 by including
ratings of videotape violence and listing of thoughts following observation of the tapes. This time,
however, each subject was tested individually in a small cubicle. The procedure was very similar
except just prior to observing a videotape, the subject was given the adjective checklist, and baseline
blood pressure and pulse rate were measured. During the showing of the video, the subject s blood
pressure and pulse rate were measured three times during a 2 min interval. After viewing the
videotape, the subject listed their thoughts, rated the video, provided information about television
viewing habits, and

Toronto Public Health and TB Program Prevention, Management and Treatment

Tuberculosis (TB), which infects one third of the world population, is a disease with one of the
highest mortality rates in the world (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2016a). It is
reported that there is an approximately low TB occurrence in nations that have the highest income
and middle income; however, there are specific communities such as homeless, poor people and
lawbreakers in these countries that have the highest TB incidence (Gärden et al., 2013). Therefore,
public health policies about preventing and treating tuberculosis in the marginalized and disfavoured
groups have never failed to get social attention. The city of Toronto has been applying Nightingale s
theory of ensuring ventilation and warming, maintaining the cleanliness, and reinforcing the
observing of the sick to develop a TB program in order to diminish the spreading and impacts of TB
as well as to enhance the support for displaced, disciplinary communities.
Nightingale s notion of a therapeutic environment plays a critical role in establishing the TB
program for homeless, correctional populations of Toronto because it has reduced TB s airborne
transmission, a factor that makes TB a worldwide pandemic. In Canada, TB was possibly
transmitted to Aboriginal people in

Ippl is an IP protocol logger that runs in the background and listens for packets; hence, it is high

b) Port Scans A port scan is another common network probe that is generally used by intruders to
establish services that are actually running on the target machine (SANS Institute, 2002). Port
scans allow intruders to establish vulnerable services in machines where attacks can be
successfully launched. As such, a port scan refers to a process where a hacker attempts to establish
a connection with target machine on various TCP or UDP ports in order to spot potential
vulnerabilities of the system (Wild Packets, 2002). Port scans are generally easy to perform since it
involves connecting to a series of ports on the target machine and identifying the ones that respond.
Programmers can actually write a simple port scanner in a few minutes, but these are usually very
easily detected by the operating system on the target machine as describe in the following paragraph.
Detection and Defense against Port Scans Port scans are legally accepted unless an attacker uses
information from a port scan to exploit vulnerabilities on a system (SANS Institute, 2002). As such,
organizations must be more vigilant and protect their systems by minimizing information gained
from port scans especially when running a publicly accessible web server. For instance, http should
be the only service
Positive Behavior Support System
The role of a principal goes far beyond academics and learning and includes ensuring a school is a
safe and supportive learning environment for all students. A school must be safe. Some student
come to school without their primary needs met and a plan needs to be in place to provide those
students with what they need to be able to learn. Principals must make sure that there are policies
and procedures in place including an effective and consistent schoolwide discipline plan. An
administrator must use data to decide if a Positive Behavior Support System should be implemented
and be ready to train all staff in their roles and responsibilities in following that plan. Students must

A principal needs to be an effective communicator with families, students, and staff and must ensure
that each classroom has effective and consistent classroom management and the common areas of
the school are set up to support the overall goal of consistent accountability and discipline. One way
that this can occur is through the development of a school wide Positive Behavior Support System
(PBSS). When developed and implemented the PBSS should address all areas of the school and
consistently be implemented. Dr. Knoff tells us that we need consistent behavioral expectations,
attitudes, responses by teachers, administrators, parents and students in the school (The Research
Base Week 4). The common areas of the school including the hallways, bathrooms, buses, playground
and cafeteria must be safe and supportive environments for students. Behaviors should be addressed
and a School Prevention Review and Intervention Team (SPRINT) should be implemented to address
the most challenging students. There is a lot of focus on ensuring that schools are safe places for
students both physically and

And the damages it has done to the polity are astronomical. The menace of corruption leads to slow
movement of files in offices, police extortion tollgates and slow traffics on the highways, port
congestion, queues at passport offices and gas stations, ghost workers syndrome, election
irregularities, among others. Corruption is one of the most common problem in everywhere in the
world. Some where its acceptable and some where it crosses the boundary.

In Nigeria, researchers indicate that the following sectors are among those most affected by
corruption: * Police and law enforcement * Judiciary and legal profession * Power sector * Tax and
customs * Health and education * Land administration * Public Procurement which seems to be a
major concern across most sectors
Here we are discussing about the corruption in Nigeria. There are some major points that show how
much corrupted Nigeria is. These are location, accounting standards, anti corruption policy
credibility and enforceability, cultural difference, political leadership, political change and at home.

Location
This is because if it pays bribe in a particular country then it has to pay bribe in the neighboring
country. Nigeria is a bribe accepting nation. Any company or multinational company cannot start
their businesses without bribe. Now if any company started their business in a country where bribe
is mandatory then for example other bribe accepted nation also argues for

I couldn t grasp the concept. This lady took away my chance of a bit of conversation with Hugo,
demanded I stir nasty soup, and she got rid of my only chance to escape this hellhole by yelling at
that poor old man and alerting the guards! No wonder there are so many Jews in this wretched
camp. I wanted to tell Mildred how she clearly was wrong, and her opinions were irrational and
idiotic, but I was better than that. I kept my mouth shut and decided to keep quiet and let her keep
ranting, while she subconsciously cooked and cleaned. I was still disgusted with the fact that she
was everything I was taught to hate. I just stood there with my new found hate, watching her
grudgingly. I didn t even do any work, but I shouldn t have to anyways. A little while later,
prisoners from other buildings started pouring in. I expected to hear everyone talking like I do at

Seeing the primitiveness of this place, I was surprised bowls and spoons were used. The prisoners
took their small bowl of thin soup and went to eat outside. After I severed everyone, I got some

The Super Bowl
My spirit is broken, my days are cut short, the grave awaits me. (job 17:10 NIV) Well, it s
finished. The Super Bowl is done and Denver begins their reign as champions of the NFL. For all
of its overhype, I have to admit I enjoy the Super Bowl. I look forward to it even if my favorite
teams aren t playing. Actually my favorite teams haven t played in a Super Bowl in a long time.
But I enjoy the hype leading up to it. I enjoy all of the analysis. I enjoy watching the commercials
, at least most of them. I remain more than a bit uncomfortable with the puppy/monkey/baby
creature. Mascots should make you want to buy the product, not create an urge to garb a baseball
bat and try to kill it while you mutter prayers to send it back to the Netherworld from which it
came. And this game, at least on paper had a lot going for it. The old pro versus the brash young
gunslinging quarterback. One QB a physical phenom, the other moving as if he is put together by
bailing wire. A top offense versus a crippling defense. In some ways that s what you want to see in
a Super Bowl. But what I enjoy the most is the after game interviews and press conferences. Well,
specifically the interviews with the losers. Please don t think I m being particularly sadistic about
that. But let s face it, the interviews with the winners are pretty boring. They all pretty much say the
same thing. They thank their teammates, family and owners. talk about giving 100%, its a team

How Does Gertrude Present Betrayal In Hamlet
In Shakespeare s play Hamlet, the Queen, Gertrude, helps present to idea of betrayal by not only
betraying her son, Hamlet, but by being betrayed by her second husband, Claudius. Gertrude
betrayed Hamlet by marrying Claudius only a month after King Hamlet s death. Hamlet was very
against their marriage and the Queen was aware of this. In Hamlets eyes, Gertrudebetrayed him by
mourning his late father so quickly, with very little tears, and then quickly moving on to another
man. Not only did she marry very quickly, but she married Hamlet s Uncle, Claudius. Hamlet would
have most likely been less against the marriage had his mother not married his father s brother. On
the other side, Gertrude was betrayed by Claudius when she drank the chalice... Show more content

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were close friends with Hamlet when they were young. Hamlet
trusted them and loved them. When the King and Queen approached the two to spy on Hamlet for
them, they agreed immediately. The King and Queen would pay them greatly for their service to
them. Agreeing to spy on Hamlet was how Rosencrantz and Guildenstern betrayed Hamlet. Hamlet
found out about his old friends very quickly. While on the boat to England, Hamlet switched out the
letters that were to be sent to England with his own that asked England if those bearers [be] put to
sudden the death, (67) meaning those who delivered the letters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern,
would be killed right after the letters are opened. Hamlet felt betrayed, and so he took that and
turned it back on his old friends and betrayed them by having England murder them instead of
Sn1 Reaction Lab Report
SN1 reactions only occur with certain reagents under very specific conditions. These reactions have
an intermediate and occur in two distinct steps. The first step is the formation of the carbocation
once the leaving group departs from the molecule. The type of leaving group is vital in determining
if an SN1 reactionwill occur. In general, the efficiency of the leaving group increases as the size of
the halide ion increases. However, p Toluensulfonate is the most effective and reactive leaving group.
As this step forms a carbocation, it is important to note that the type of carbocation that will form.
SN1 reactions will not occur if the intermediate is not stable. Therefore, the degree of substitution of
the leaving group, and consequently the carbocation, is vital.... Show more content on

Correspondingly, primary alkyl halides are the least likely to react. Additionally, the solvent has the
ability to stabilize the carbocation. A polar protic solvent is favored as it will form hydrogen bonds
to further stabilize the carbocation intermediate. Overall, SN1 reactions are widely dependent on the
formation of a stable carbocation intermediate. Since SN1 reactions are dependent on the formation
of the carbocation, and that step occurs separately from the nucleophilic addition, the rate of the
reaction is not typically affected by the nature or concentration of the nucleophile. The mechanism of
an SN1 reaction is consistent. First, the leaving group leaves forming the carbocation. The
intermediate carbocation is planar and achiral. The nucleophile is then free to attack from either side
of the carbocation, which forms the substituted product in either a racemic mixture or with some

King Lear Traglear Essay
King Lear, a tragedy in which Shakespeare exhibits most fully his literary complexities, is
surprisingly the least popular of the famous four. In spite of this, it is indefinitely the most talked
about. For many this is Shakespeare s most profound tragedy, one of the greatest plays ever written
in any language at any time. It throws up questions, which remain as perplexing now as they were to
Shakespeare s earlier critics. And although thoroughly studied, the original story line has remained
unchanged for centuries, even though many attempts have been made to alter it. In the twentieth
century a range of conflicting views on King Learemerged, a major development in Shakespearean
criticism came with the publication of A.C Bradley s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This proves to be his fatal flaw and this, combined with the unexpected, seemingly undevoted
speech by his favoured daughter Cordelia, earns herself and Kent an early departure out of the
play. The fool plays a vital part in the deterioration of Lear s character and sanity in the play, he is
Lear s voice of conscience, his alter ego, and many of his earlier speeches are designed to alert
Lear to his daughter s true characters. The fool is never punished for telling it how it is: he is all
licensed . Jesters were often kept by the monarch to remind the sovereignty of his humanity and in
this case sanity. When he first appears in the play he is extremely critical of Lear; dost thou call
me a fool, boy? em All thy other titles thou hast given away; that thou wast born with . His
sarcasm is hard hitting though completely true. Lear s arrogance overtakes him and he begins to
feel superior to Kent whom he has known and respected for so long do not come between the

supremacy, control and power, whereas the audience knows it is the temper of a dragon that Lear is
