1. A simple harmonic vibration equation is defined by Y = 10 sin (80πt + ɸ). The


displacement at 0 sec is 5cm. Find (i) the epoch (ii) the frequency and (iii) the
maximum velocity. (Ans: π⁄6 rad, 40 Hz and 2513.27 cm/s)

2. Calculate the amplitude, angular frequency, frequency, time period and initial
phase for the simple harmonic oscillation given below
a. y = 0.3 sin (40πt + 1.1)
b. y = 2 cos (πt)
c. y = 3 sin (2πt − 1.5).
a. (Ans:0.3 m, 40π rad/s, 20 Hz, 0.05sec and 1.1 rad) b. (Ans:2 m, π rad/s, 0.5Hz,

3. A simple harmonic vibration equation is defined by Y = 10 sin (65.832t +


ɸ). The displacement at 0 sec is 9cm.

Find (i) the time period (ii) the frequency and (iii) the maximum velocity, (iv)
path difference (v) wavelength. (Ans: 0.0953s, 10.5 Hz, 6.583 m/s, not specified
and 0.627 m).

4. Calculate the amplitude, angular frequency, frequency, time period and initial
phase for The simple harmonic oscillation given below a. y = 0.5 sin (50πt + 1.5)
b. y = 2 cos (πt) c. y = 3 sin (2πt − 1.5). [Ans: 13.016m].

7. A particle oscillating in simple harmonic motion has the equation of motion, x =


10cos (6πt + π / 3) metre. What will be the displacement, velocity and

and 10.20 m)
10. With what minimum velocity a man can throw a ball to a maximum range of 80m,
and to what height does it reach in this condition? (Ans: 28ms-1and 20 m)
11. A place kicker kicks a football with a velocity of 20.0 m/s and at an angle of 53
degrees. (a) How long is the ball in the air? (b) How far away does it land? (c) How
high does it travel? (Ans: 3.25 s, 75.49 m and 13 m)
12. A body of mass 4 kg pulled by 10N force. The kinetic or sliding frictional coefficient is
0.2. Find the kinetic frictional force. (Ans: 7.84N)
13. A plane surface is inclined at an angle of 30°. A body of mass 10 kg is placed on it. If the
coefficient of kinetic friction μk, between the body and the inclined surface is 0.3, calculate
the downward acceleration of the body along the inclined plane. Take g=10ms−2). (Ans:
2.40ms-2).

14. A block of mass 12 kg is placed on a horizontal surface. A horizontal force of 50 N is


applied to the block. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the block and the surface is
0.25. (Take g= ms-2)

Calculate:

a)The normal force acting on the block


b)The frictional force
c)The net force acting on the block
d)The acceleration of the block
