1. Preliminary Examination
Paper I - General Studies (GS-I):
- Current events of national and international importance
- History of India and Indian National Movement
- Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World
- Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues,
etc.
- Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social
Sector Initiatives, etc.
- General issues on Environmental ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change
- General Science
(Marks: 200 | Duration: 2 hours | Negative Marking: 1/3rd per wrong answer)
Paper II - CSAT (GS Paper II) - Qualifying Paper:
- Comprehension
- Interpersonal skills including communication skills
- Logical reasoning and analytical ability
- Decision-making and problem-solving
- General mental ability
- Basic numeracy (Class X level)
- Data interpretation (Class X level)
(Marks: 200 | Duration: 2 hours | Qualifying Marks: 33% | Negative Marking: 1/3rd per wrong answer)
2. Main Examination
Main Examination (Descriptive Type):
Total Papers: 9 (Only 7 for merit, 2 are qualifying)
Qualifying Papers:
- Paper A - Indian Language (300 marks)
- Paper B - English (300 marks)

- Paper VII: Optional Subject Paper II - 250 marks
Total for merit: 1750 marks
3. Personality Test / Interview
Personality Test / Interview:
- Tests mental alertness, assimilation, clear and logical exposition, balance of judgment, leadership, moral
integrity, etc.
Marks: 275
Final Merit = Mains (1750) + Interview (275) = Total 2025 Marks
4. Optional Subjects
