How Well Do You Think The Governance System Of Jpmorgan...
Strategic Management Case Study Assignment Question 1. How well do you think the
governance system of JPMorgan Chase is working in protecting shareholder interests? Corporate
governance is a set of actions used to handle the relationship between stakeholders by determining
and controlling the strategic direction and performance of the organization. Corporate
governance major concern is making sure that the strategic decisions are effective and that it
paves the way towards strategic competitiveness. (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2017, p. 310). In today
s corporation, the primary objective of corporate governance is to align top level manager s and
stakeholders interest. That is why corporate governance is involved when there is a conflict of
interest between with the owners, managers, and members of the board of directors (Hitt, Ireland,
Hoskisson, 2017, p. 310 311). There are three internal and one external governance mechanisms
used for owners to govern managers to ensure they comply with their responsibility to satisfy
stakeholders and shareholder s needs. First, ownership concentration is stated as the number of
large block shareholders and the total percentage of the shares they own (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson,
2017, p. 317). Second, the board of directors which are elected by the shareholders. Their primary
duty is to act in the owner s best interest and to monitor and control the businesses top level
managers (Hitt, Ireland, Hoskisson, 2017, p. 319). Third, is the
Aggressive Behavior And Victimization Essay
Aggressive Behavior and Victimization has long term effects for the victimized, the bystander, and
the perpetrator.
Victimized:
Aggressive behavior is a major factor in short and long term physical and mental health, education,
and long term adult relationships, and work opportunities. Repetitive aggressive and victimization
increases the risk of reduced self esteem, anxiety, depression and social isolation and poor physical
health including substance abuse and suicide.
Victimized individuals may incur or engage in adult abuse cycles, instability in long term
relationships, problems at work, and an inability to achieve economic independence.

Bystanders become desensitized to anti social behaviors, or becoming bullies themselves.
Many bystanders make excuses for the behavior to stay on the favored side (Coloroso, 2011 pg38).
Bulling often incurs no immediate consequence therefore celebrated by those who indulge in the
behavior, actively or passively, whilst the bullied hide in the shadows.
Perpetrator:
The Perpetrator will display internalized symptoms. Perpetrators of aggressive behavior become
desensitized to aggression through having their behavior validated by friends and bystanders (J.F.
Sigurdson and co authors 2016). This makes the bully feel superior to others loosing empathy for
others considered beneath them.
Perpetrators of aggressive behavior lack social skills of negotiation, fair play, or compromise
leading to the belief that aggression is the only way to get the desired result. This inability to create
equable settings amongst peers forms social isolation and depression. The perpetrator internalizes
these traits so as not to appear weak to maintain the façade of strength and

Introduction: Circuses are a magical place where families take their children to watch the
performances, right? Wrong. Elephants held in circuses against their will, are beaten, starved and
forced to stand on their head for the enjoyment of children. Does that still sound magical? The same
things happen in zoos

Big Picture: Circuses have been around since the 1700 s and were called Circles, later becoming the
ring, which is the center of the circle where the animals are performing against their will. In the
beginning a circus was just a man and a horse performing in a ring. Over the years it has grown into
a huge production and lasts several hours. Zoos have also been around for a long time. Animals
held in fake wilderness while people watch them from behind metal bars. Elephants in my opinion
are in the most serious trouble. These 6000 to 15,000 pound creatures who are forced to stand on
their heads or stand in a little sanctuary only allowed to walk 1.5 to 2 miles a day. When in the
wild they walk 40 miles plus in one day. Since they weigh so much they should not be standing on
hard dry surfaces that prevents normal exercise and forces them to stand on hard, dry, compacted
surfaces, causing arthritis and foot disease. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Oroonoko, By Aphra Behn
Aphra Behn s work Oroonoko was ahead of its time in its discussion of slavery and colonization.
Oroonoko revealed the negative side of the slave trading industry which was something almost
unheard of in the 17th century when slave trading was a booming business and a part of everyday
life. In the work it can be validated that Behn s reason behind writing this novel in this time period
was that she did not want this man s life to be forgotten or be lost in vain. Furthermore, it is believe
that Behn was taking a stand against slaveryusing experience, change, and the truth. In America
today slavery has been abolished for over 150 years and yet it is still a very real situation for
countries around the world. When Behn was alive slavery was an everyday occurrence in most
countries around the world in some form. Slavery in the 17th century meant, as it does today, that
a person had no control over his destiny, no choice of occupation or employer, no rights to
property or marriage, and no control over the fate of his children. (Mier and Kopytoff 3). Many
higher class Europeans viewed slaves as goods and not real people ignoring the fact and treating
them as animals to do their bidding. Some people treated their slaves better then others, however
the fact that they were still slaves remained. Slavery was a so common it was not unordinary for the
people of Europe, and later on America, to have them as a commodity while importing and exporting
them. Freeing the slaves was
The Crime Of White Collar Crime
Crime is such a general word, and describes a whole conundrum of activities that are seen as
unlawful. The oxford dictionary defines crime as an action of omission which constitutes an
offence and is punishable by law . There are many different types of crimes, and they are classified
based on the seriousness of the crime. Minor crimes/offences, for example a traffic offence, are
called misdemeanors. More serious crimes, like murder, are called felonies and are punishable by
more than a year in prison. When people hear the word crime, they most often associate it with a
dangerous, violent act. There are crimes that are not violent in nature, but are still considered
criminal acts because of their nature and their purpose. White collar crime is one of those types of
crimes that are non violent but have a great impact on its victims.

What is White Collar Crime?

White collar crime is generally identified as non violent crimes that public officials and business
people commit predominantly for their own personal gain . Edwin Sutherland came up with the
term white collar crime to explain the crimes that both middle class and upper class people
committed in the course of their business activities. White collar crime is so often neglected as
crime, that many people don t even consider it as a crime until they are the victims. People don t
understand that the effects of white collar crime are much higher than other crimes. If we look at it
from a monetary perspective, the costs
The Poem Blood Nye
Essay Analysis of the Poem Blood

A brief look at this poem can suggest that some of the main ideas are identity and self discovery,
which isn t wrong. However when going more in depth the poem shows not so obvious ideas of
truth, desire for peace, innocence, racism, appearances, and a lot more. The poem suggests that
the world is unfair by how it treats and judges the Arabic culture and its people. Nye expresses
how this has impacted her and the community through literary elements such as tone, setting, past
/present/future, symbolism, and allusion. In Blood, Nye is told the characteristics of a true Arab
by her father. Nye s father says that a true Arab can catch a fly in one s hand and a true Arab gives
back what they have borrowed from nature once they die. The poem goes on to the present day and
what is taking place. The news impacted both Nye and her father and causes her to question herself.
Readers are able to feel every bit of emotion.
Nye feels through the various tones the poem creates. Nye is the daughter of a Palestinian father
and a American mother of European decent. There are many negative stereotypes of Arabs so
readers can easily see why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Examples Of Gothic In The House Of The Seven Gables
Hawthorne s Treatment Of The Gothic In The House Of Seven Gables

Hawthorne is renowned for his use of psychological analysis in his works, and the reason behind
this fame is quite evident in The House of the Seven Gables . An immensely powerful example of
Hawthorne s psychological perspicacity is what Marilyn R Chandler calls the parallel between the
house and the human psyche : the grand edifice represses literally shoves underground the secret
that will become its curse. (Chandler 82) In 1850, a few months before the publication of The
House of the Seven Gables , Herman Melville reviewed Mosses from an Old Manse , a short story
collection by Hawthorne, in his essay, Hawthorne and his Mosses . Melville lavished immense
praise on Hawthorne, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All veils are lifted towards the end, however. Judge Pyncheon is proved to have died of entirely
natural causes. With the death of the Judge, the grasping, greedy nature of the Pyncheons their fatal
flaw, if you will that set in motion the entire unfortunate chain of events, is shown to vanish too. The
curse that hung over each successive generation of the Pyncheons is rendered hollow by the union
of Holgrave and Phoebe, and the strange realm of witchcraft is also subverted by the slightly more
credible science of mesmerism. The aura of the uncanny starts to dissipate, and is finally dispelled
with the help of reasonable, rational explanations centred in the realm of the mundane, and
psychological justification wherein lies Hawthorne s specialty. Lionel Trilling, in Our Hawthorne ,
also appreciates Hawthorne s unmatched skill in this sphere: Many of the tales, or romances as he
thought of them, are multi levelled, ironic explorations of the human psyche capable of endless
extensions of meaning and of stimulating repeated analysis and interpretation. (Trilling

3. RISK MANAGEMENT MODELS
Certain tools or models have been developed to help the project manager to decide what to do for
certain types of risks. Examples of risk management models are the risk cube, the Risk Burndown
Chart, GANTT chart, Milestone chart, Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) or
Critical Path Method (CPM), Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA), SWOT (Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats ) analysis, GAP analysis, Value Chain analysis, Failure
Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Decision Tree Analysis, and Monte Carlo Simulation. Risk
management software such as Active Risk Manager, Risk Matrix, and Risk+ is also used [ [1] ] [ [3]
] [ [4] ].

Risk management models are not applied universally across all types of risks. Certain models are
meant for certain types of risks and the project manager should use previous experience and good
judgement in using the models [ [1] ]. This is one of the shortfalls is risk management models
because different people can interpret the same thing differently [ [5] ].

4.3 Risk Cube

A risk cube helps the project manager to make a decision based on the probability of the risk as well
as the consequence. Depending on these two factors, the project risk can be green (low risk),
yellow (medium risk), or red (high risk). This model can be used in any almost with any type of
risk [ [4] ]. The shortfall if such a model is that a factor such as consequence
Economic, Social, and Political Problems in the Post-Civil...
Americans suffered many economic, social, and political problems in the post Civil War era. I
have identified one of each of these types of problems that I believe were among the most
important during the period of 1865 1900. The economic issue that I believe had one of the biggest
impacts on Americans at the time is the Great Railroad Strike of 1877. The social issue that I feel
greatly affected America after the Civil War is Chinese immigration. One of the biggest political
issues, to me, is the Populist Party. I feel that the Great Railroad Strike of 1887 was a major issue
because it made Americans realize just how deeply Americans were invested in the railroads. At the
time, the biggest investment banking firm in America, Jay Cooke... Show more content on

The strike lasted all of 45 days, and became to lose steam and effectively come to a halt after
President Hayes sent federal troops from city to city. There is no exact record of the losses faced
by the country during this strike, but it is reported that the engineers and firemen s brotherhoods
lost approximately $600,000 over the forty five days of the strike, while for the Burlington
Railroad the losses were at least $2,100,000. In Pittsburgh, it was estimated that property damage
reached over three million dollars, with Chicago, Baltimore and other cities facing losses of a
similar magnitude. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Railroad_Strike) I believe that Chinese
immigration during the period after the Civil War was a very big issue because it showed just how
unwilling ordinary, white citizens were to let another inferior race into the country. Chinese
immigrants had been arriving in large quantities starting during the mid 19th century. Most of
worked as laborers, usually on the transcontinental railroad (such as the Central Pacific Railroad)
and in the mines. They suffered racial discrimination for a long time due to industrial employers
being eager to get this new and cheap labor, but the ordinary white public being angered by the
oncoming of the so called yellow peril. Political party gatherings, labor unions, and other
organizations rallied against the immigration of yet another
Doris Lessing Group Minds
In the article Group Minds, Doris Lessing argues that humans are very susceptible to institutional
group ideas or opinions. She states that humans are animals at their purest form, and as animals, we
behave in a group like way. Most humans essentially go with the herd in order to fit into the status
quo, and many do not break out of that boundary. At the beginning of Doris s article, she starts to
extract the minds of the citizens living in western/democratic societies, on their belief of
individuality and freedom, instead of conformity to the pressures of their world. She states that those
people believe whole heartedly in their individual opinions and decisions, but almost everyone refers
to their peers for help. Moreover, leading that mindto conforming to its peers. On the contrary, when
a person chooses to be isolate and not adhere to their groups, for... Show more content on

In this experiment, there is the majority, and the minority. There are two pieces of wood, which
are almost the same length but just enough to notice a difference. The majority is told to keep the
opinion that the pieces of wood are the same length. While, the minority is told the opposite. They
are then told to mingle and discuss the issue. The majority stays persistent, and the minority does
too, until they basically give up. Thus, the minority conforms to the majority. Lessing then asks
the readers if they would give in acting as the minority, When put as badly, as unflatteringly, as
this, reactions tend to be incredulous: I certainly wouldn t give in, I speak my mind.... But would
you?, (Lessing, 2011). This leads people to a very relatable, yet odd reflection of one s sense of
self and strength. Lessing then brings up a very interesting and primal idea that the hardest thing to
do in life is to speak out against one s self found

Evelina is a sort of island of graceful womanly understanding in a sea of shallow, patronizing or
satirical eighteenth century attitudes upon women and their ways. This statement from Harrison R.
