Susanna Shrobsdorff
In the Time article Teen Depression and Anxiety: Why the Kids Are Not Alright, the author,
Susanna Schrobsdorff, discusses the current generation s increase in mental health disorders,
specifically anxiety and depression. Schrobsdorff states a major cause of these disorders is the
generation s inability to find a firm line between their real and online world . The article uses
statistics from studies, and the experience of several human sources, to strengthen the authors claim
and give real world perspective of how mental disorders affect not only the person with the mental
disorder, but also their family. The article begins with a narration of the night Faith Ann Bishop,
one of Schrobsdorff s experienced sources, began to self harm herself. Bishop s story of anxiety and

A second way technology s impact negatively affects the youth, is by creating a world of
hyperconnectedness . This means people are experiencing a personal connection to people they
do not personally know and situations they are not apart of. An example Schrobsdorff gives is of
Phoebe Gariepy, a teenage girl who followed another girl on Instagram who lived across the
country from Gariepy. When Gariepy found out the girl on Instagram was killed, she felt really
extremely connected to [the] situation . This type of hyperconnectedness is a widespread
phenomenon affecting youth of all backgrounds. The second example Schrobsdorff gives is of
students in Montana. In this example, Daniel Champer, a school director, explains that the students
of Montana are overexposed . Champer goes on to explain how the students of Montana often
know before adults when tragedy strikes. This kind of exposure does not allow adequate time for
counselors to help . Schrobsdorff uses these examples to give real world examples and perspectives
of the negative effects cause the hyper connected
Marketing Challenge At The 2013 Toronto s Intercamp...
Marketing Challenge This report will discuss the situation faced by Josh Howard as at October
2012 in regards to the 2013 Toronto s Intercamp Classic Annual Charity event. The marketing
challenge is to raise 25% more money during the 2013 event than the $125,000 raised in 2012 and
amounts to a donation goal of $156,250. The 2013 event is scheduled for May 5, 2013 and the
kickoff campaign launches in two months. Based on internal and external analysis, a comprehensive
marketingplan that addresses the product, placement, price, promotion and target market of the
Intercamp Classic will be developed to overcome the outlined marketing challenge.

In 2011, a female handball division was created and a male flag football division geared towards
high school students was added in 2012. While both expansions were met with impressive growth in
size and donations, a large portion of the Classic s human resources had to be devoted to
accommodate the expansions and time constraints that Howard currently faces could potentially
limit future expansions.
Industry Analysis The trend of the increasing emphasis for businesses to be socially responsible
presents an opportunity for corporate sponsorships. These sponsorships can either supplement
donations made by participants or provide an alternative, more acceptable, source of financing for
marketing initiatives. Therefore, more funding can be allocated to the marketing budget which
increases the promotional alternatives Howard can utilise. Additionally, as a result of the same social
trend, companies sometimes offer discounts for not for profit organisations which further increases
the financial capabilities of the Classic in affording promotional materials.
Competitive Analysis Although Howard does not identify any specific competition, the Classic does
compete with other charity events. The competitive advantage that most charity events like the
Intercamp Classic have is that they operate a silent auction and raffle
Consumer Analysis The market can be segmented into three consumer groups: 16 to 30 year olds
and 31 to 50 year olds who
Evaluating The Potential Quality Loss Cost
To shorten completion time of construction projects, various researchers have worked on time cost
tradeoff to optimize project plans and resource allocation keeping in mind no potential loss in
quality. This paper discussed various research findings in this area and summarizes methods and
approaches found. Various approach have been introduced such as The Potential Quality Loss Cost
(PQLC) in time cost tradeoff proposes linear programmingmodel preventing crashing of activities
beyond quality limits and bring practicality in planning. Another research highlights using linear and
integer programming algorithms for resource optimizationwhile scheduling of project, thereby
analyzing potential time cost tradeoff. In a different approach, researcher used fuzzy multi attribute
utility methodology and justifying it with computational analysis to provide an alternate solution to
the problem. A research focusing on principle of genetic algorithms, results in development of VBA
macro programs which uses the total project cost as an objective function and accounts for project
specific constraints on time and cost.

Stereotypes Of Latinos Essay
Latinos in U. S. A. and Hollywood s Discrimination
Hispanic or Latino, is a segment of the population in the States of the American Union that has
grown in quantity, economy and education, and everything indicates that it would continue in the
same way, as a result of the Hispanic people has inhabited here, even before this country conformed
as the United States. Latinos also have made important contributions to this country in all aspects
and levels and areas to society, of the sort of the arts, sports and politics. Cinema is considered an
art, the seventh art, as well it is a form of expression and reflection of society and its times. In
consequence, filming is a very important business, and Hollywood is the mecca of the industry.
Then, we could expect that the significance of their presence would be properly portrayed. But, to
the contrary to we might assume, we see in Hollywood s filmography that they have been assigned
few roles, which are also mostly stereotyped and unflattering. In this essay, we will review some ...

All these stereotypes of immigrants and Latinos definitely impact the opinions and attitudes that non
Latinos can have towards Latinos and immigrants. It is true that immigrants are not all Latinos,
many also come from Europe, Asia, etc. It is also true that not all Latinos are the best persons, and
some of them have fallen entangled into the judicial system. But not all Latins are criminals, these
represents a minority and it is not fair to generalize, as well in the system exist White persons and
from all other races. And many of these cases could be blamed to the lack of opportunities. Then,
these stereotypes do not reflect the reality or values of the Hispanic community, which mostly are
honest and hardworking, family oriented, and religious
Graceling Character Analysis
I was really excited when people told me there was romance, action, and adventure because they re
my favorite genres. But, I was disappointed when I read the first page. It s 3rd person limited. I
thought it would be a little harder to connect with the characters. However, as I kept rereading some
lines and questioning the characters, it became easier for me to understand them. For example,
Katsa, the main character of Graceling, written by Kristin Cashmore, musters up her courage to defy
Randa because she could no longer tolerate him even though she was afraid to imagine what would
happen next. Randa wanted others to fear him and to do that, he had Katsa torture peoplewho didn t
listen to his orders. According to Susan Fisk, empathy for another s happiness and suffering depends
fundamentally on recognizing that the other has a mind that is, the same capacities for thought,
emotion, desire, intention, and self awareness as ourselves. I empathize with Bitterblue as she is
strong facing hardships throughout the book.
Bitterblue s father is a villain who enjoys torturing others, but her courage still remains. Leck s grace
allows him to manipulate people with his voice and the people who hears it, spreads it. He has the
option to ask, but he prefers to do it with his grace instead as he finds it more amusing and hides
his grace with an eyepatch. That way, others would not suspect that he is a Graceling. My father isn
t like that. But, I am able to understand that others would find Bitterblue s emotions aren t ordinary.
What would Leck have her do when he controls her? Would he make her kill her loved ones? What
if he did that to you and if he was your father? Having someone take control of your mind is
absolutely terrifying. Of course she would be scared too. But would fear take over her mind? No.
As Leck controls Bitterblue, Asher, and his whole kingdom, I wonder what his purpose is, He s
the king of Monsea yet he needs to control them all mentally too. Perhaps he wants to take over the
world. Although he controlled Bitterblue and her mom multiple times, they found out a remedy to
snap out of it which was by reminding each other. Whenever she saw her mom s scars, she would
be able to remember who Leck truly is.
Fluoride Concentration In Drinking Water Essay
The (SDWA) did set a primary standards (enforceable limits) for the fluoride concentration in the
drinking water that is 4.0 (mg/L) or 4.0 ppm as a (MCLG MCL) respectively. At this level of
protection which is based on the best available science research that will prevent potential health
problems. In addition, (SDWA) did set a secondary standard (non enforceable limits) for the fluoride
concentration in the drinking water that is 2.0 (mg/L) or 2.0 ppm as a (MCL). At this level which
undergo as cosmetic effect and may cause skin, tooth discoloration, aesthetic effects. However, the
(EPA) recommends secondary standards of the fluoride to water systems as it achieves the balance
between the beneficial effects of protection such as tooth decay... Show more content on

However, water suppliers who follow the primary standards levels, put young children and their
developing teeth at risk for disease, as the maximum fluoride level is twice that of the
recommended level for children. On the other hand, believing that fluoride is an industrial poison
requires to deny decades of evidence that fluoride at low concentrations has no ill effects. Also have
to believe that the industry is paying the government to keep quiet while industrial dumping of
chemical waste into public water supplies . Thus, for the moment got confused between that
statement and anti fluoride campaigners believe that fluoride in drinking water is harmful because
it alters your brain in some way . However, my stance on adding fluoride in drinking water will
join the thought of the majority of medical and dental practitioners in our community who indicated
their support of retaining fluoride in our community water supply. Since there is no actual and
scientific approved evidence of how fluoride addition into drinking water is harmful for the human
(no significant health risk). Besides, as a percussion step, I will follow the (PHS) recommendation
level for fluoride as safe and acceptable fluoride drinking water
Comparison Of The Progressive And Populist Movement
The Progressive and Populist Movements of the Late 19th and early 20th century were both
movements that sought to give specific groups in the population better representation/rights as a
whole. The Populist Movement began due to major economic changes brought on by the railroad.
Farmers could no longer make a living selling their crops due to overproduction leading to low
prices. The Populist Partywas established in order to promote the economic and political interests of
farmers. One notable member of the Populist Party was William Jennings Bryan, a Presidential
candidate who believed in inflating the money supply and the coinage of silver. The party would go
on to create Granger Laws, laws designed to place government regulations on railroads.
The House On Marigolds Analysis
The sun is out shining down on the bright sparkling marigolds, it s quiet, nothing s open and
nothing to do, but lay around and think about the stage of the world right now. I walk outside and
see nothing but dullness, the dust against my feet, and the small town around me, there may have
been green grass, and roads at one point a while ago but memory is an abstract painting . Behind
me is a small shack leaning together like a house that a child might have constructed from cards ,
with no porch, on a small lot with no grass around. I have one thing that is held close to me that
makes me happy, they are bright against the dust, they are my marigolds. I notice Lizabeth has her
eye on the marigolds, LIzabeth doesn t want someone to have something
Importance Of Sports In My Life
Sports have always been the go to activity in my life, whether it is playing, watching, or reading. I
participated in a few sports but will play any sport for fun. I thrive to watch sports and keep up
with the NFL, NBA, MLB, and all the college sports. My family has enjoyed sports forever and
the love has been handed down from generation to generation. Issues in sports have always been
around and will continue to be around for ages. In my early elementary days, I played upwards of
5 sports. Flag and tackle football brought me joy because I could throw the ball to the receivers or
run downfield if they were not open. My high schooldid not offer soccer; therefore, I did not
continue to play during my elementary years because of baseball.... Show more content on

Now to professional teams, I have been a huge fan of the Denver Broncos since I could talk. I
love Sports Authority Field and the entire city of Denver. It brought me joy when Peyton
Manning joined them even though we all know the defense won them Super Bowl 50. When it
comes to NBA and MLB, I do not have necessary favorite teams, but I have favorite players. In the
NBA, I respect Lebron s game and the athletic ability he has brought into the NBA. I enjoy
watching all the NBA games because of the crazy shots and adjustments they can make to get a
bucket. The MLB attracts my attention the least barely liking any of the teams/players, so
whenever I go to an MLB game I always cheer for the home team. Growing up in the middle of Iowa
, several of my friends like Iowa State. I try to be respectful to them but I must put them in their
place when they smack talk me. I have brainwashed my parents and siblings to like the Broncos
and Hawkeyes along with me. My brothers in law are the toughest though because they are
extremely big Cyclone fans. Personal issues that I have had in sports include coaching. At my
school, my teammates dads were always the coach which makes it quite bias when they come to
setting lineup. They always want the best results for their kid whether the game ends in a win or
loss. The way I look at games is, I don t care what happens if we get the win. An issue I realized this

Experimental Theory, State Of The Art, And Economics
The Fischer Tropsch (FT) process is a part of the larger Gas to Liquids technology. The purpose of
the FT process is to convert syngas, which is a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, to
liquid hydrocarbon fuels. Syngas for FT can be coal, natural gas, or biomass derived, which opens
several pathways for how FT can be industrialized. Since its creation, the FT process has
continuously been researched and commercialized, but it remains an unpopular pathway to obtain
liquid fuels. Ongoing development of the process is primarily due to the value and promise of the
FT products. This paper will give an overview of the FT process with a focus on describing the
process, experimental theory, state of the art, and economics.

[1]
2.1 Reactions and Products
The FT process or FT synthesis is a set of catalytic processes for converting synthesis gas (syngas,
carbon monoxide hydrogen and/or other gases mixture) into liquid hydrocarbons. [2]
The reactions in the FT process are generally described as the following:
Alkanes: (2n + 1)H2 + nCO ⇒ CnH2n+2 + nH2O(1)
Alkenes: 2nH2 + nCO ⇒ CnH2n + nH2O(2)
Oxygenates: 2nH2 + nCO ⇒ CnH2n + 2O + (n 1)H2O(3)
Water Gas Shift: CO + H2O ⇔ CO2 + H2 (4)
The reaction stated before can be achieved with the help provided by the catalysts. The catalysts that
can be used in this process are varied. The preferred catalysts are the metals that have electron
configuration of d7 (although not required) [4]. These includes (1) Fe (Iron) = [Ar] 3d6 4s2, (2) Co
(Cobalt) = [Ar] 3d7 4s2, (3) Ni (Nickel) = [Ar] 4s2 3d8, (4) Mo (Molybdenum) = [Kr] 4d5 5s1, (5)
Ru (Ruthenium) = [Kr] 4d7 5s1. (6) Rh (Rhodium) = [Kr] 4d8 5s1, (7) W (Tungsten) = [Xe] 4f14
5d4 6s2, (8) Other platinum group noble metals. [5]
In real life, catalysts considered for FT synthesis are based on transition metals of iron, cobalt, nickel
and ruthenium. Among these catalysts, it is generally known that nickel (Ni) tends to promote
methane formation, as in a methanation process; thus generally it is not desirable. Iron (Fe) is
relatively low cost and has a higher water gas shift activity, and is therefore more suitable for a
lower hydrogen/carbon monoxide ratio (H2/CO) syngas
