Amazon Rainforestation
An area of Brazil s rain forest larger than 200 football fields will be destroyed. During the past 40
years, close to 20 percent of the Amazon Rainforest has been cut down more than in all the
previous 450 years since European colonization began. The percentage could well be far higher; the
figure fails to account for selective logging, which causes significant damage but, is less easily
observable than clear cuts. Scientists fear that an additional 20 percent of the trees will be lost over
the next two decades. If that happens, the forest s ecology will begin to unravel. In fact, the Amazon
produces half its own rainfall through the moisture it releases into the atmosphere. Eliminate enough
of that rain through clearing, and the remaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the trees are extracted and the loggers have moved on, the roads serve as conduits for an
explosive mix of squatters, speculators, ranchers, farmers, and invariably, hired gunmen. The land
sharks follow the roads deep into the previously impenetrable forest, then destroy tracts to make it
look as if they own them. Land thievery is committed through corruption, strong arm tactics, and
fraud like titles and is so widespread that Brazilians have a name for it: grilagem, from the
Portuguese word Grilo, or cricket. Grileiros, the practitioners, have been known to age phony land
titles in a drawer full of hungry crickets. When Brazil s agrarian reform agency, Instituto Nacional
de Colonização e Reforma Agrária, reviewed Amazonian land ownership records over the past three
years, it voided more than 62,000 claims that appeared to be fraud like.

The only thing wrong that could go with planting trees as the tare down others, is the trees not
being able to live in the climate therefore not being able to grow the right way. The trees could
also be eaten off of while the trees are trying to grow. But, people could stop the trees from being
eaten or not being able to survive in the climate by taking a part of the tree and planting it. People
can stop the trees from being eaten by clearing all of the animals out of that area until the trees are
ready to be there on their

Providing quality education is the primary concern of Philippine educational system. Quality
education is dependent on the quality of teachers. Field study is one way of preparing pre service
teachers to be properly prepared to undertake the vital role in uplifting the quality of education in the
country. What is learned from Field Study or in the actual learning environment is far different from
what is being learned in the classroom. What is only heard can be forgotten, as Confucius said that:
What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand.

Fruit and Robots: Two Operating Systems in the Mobile Market

Apple s iOS and Google s Android operating systems (OS) are both used in similar devices, tablets
and phones. However, the look and feel of both is very different. Smartphones and tablet computers
have become increasingly popular; two operating systems have come to the forefront, iOS, and
Android. Both contain similarities but the way in which they are used, and the devices they are
used on are similar but once the OS s are put on become vastly different. Many other operating
systems have tried, and ultimately failed, to gather market share like both iOS ... Show more content

This can cause problems for the company because it can fragment their market share as well as
confuse the public. Not all devices run all OS versions, not all devices look the same because of the
skinning that comes from some hardware manufacturers.
One major difference between the two operating systems is the fact that Android is part of the
Android Open Source Project (AOSP) which allows developers access to the Software
Development Kit (SDK) to develop applications for Android devices, which is the most important
part of the new Smartphone market. Apple, as with most things they release have a closed
system, you have to pay to become a developer and develop with tools they proved. This puts a
burden on the developers right away because Android is extensively free, while iOS has an initial
cost to even get started, and that s if you already have an Intel based Mac.
Application development itself is different in the respect that they use different programming
languages to create the applications (apps). Android applications are usually developed using the
Java language but with tools that are available can be created using C, or C++. Apple iOS
applications are created using their own custom software and Objective C language. The approval
process one applications are developed are also much different. With an Android App is developed it

Patrol Officers
Patrol Officers are not assigned a case to try and solve. In most major cities police departments
have enough personal to cover every aspect of a crime, however, the role of the patrol officer during
investigations has increased. On page 23, in the book, under the patrol officer as an investigator, it
mentions that the role of the patrolofficer has been limited, however, as time continues that same role
seem to increase. The role of the patrol officer has taken over some of the same responsibilities as the
investigators have. Such as providing immediate assistance to victims, locates witness, and
interviews both victims and witnesses. Also, the patrol officer has the authority to initiate and
complete investigations of certain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It sends a message to the people that they live in a safe place. Which for many people that little bit
of reassurance is all they need to be happy. Nobody wants to live in a bad place, or a place they
feel is dangerous. Also, with expanding the role of the patrol officer, this is very beneficial with
today s economy. I never think you can put a price on protecting the people, but, the sad reality is
that in today s economic times, we have to. To hire a new recruit comes a price, it is just easier for
the community of the patrol officers to be expected to do more. In most cases these officers want to
do more to solve the crimes to put that faith back into the community that crimes will be resolved
right away. Right when a crime happens, most people instantly become fearful that it will happen
again, so, they become on edge, and question that the police will be able to catch the people that hurt
them or robbed them. With crimes being solved right away, that puts the fear at ease and lets them
know they are safe and it will not continue to happen. I was reading ahead a tad bit and came
across theft that happens in banks,, and how those people are caught the same day. For me, that
instantly puts my mind at ease. Years ago, one of the buildings I was working in, there was a theft
that happened in the bank downstairs, and every got really nervous
The Origin of Old-Earth Geology and its Ramifications...
Introduction:
Dr. Terry Mortenson in the article The Origin of Old Earth Geology and its Ramifications on Life
in the 21st Century, discusses a well know debate that goes back many years. In this review I will
give a brief overview of what the article itself is about. Along with that, I will discuss some of the
strengths and weaknesses that I have found and thought about. There are some very great points in
this article, as well as weak points. I think it is important to discuss both.
Overview:
The Origin of Old Earth Geology and its Ramifications on Life in the 21st Century is an article by
Dr. Terry Mortenson. He discusses a well know debate that goes back many years. He mentions three
French scientists, Comte de Buffon(1708 88), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relationship to the belief in God to the belief in creation seems to be the central focus. He
mentions the four scriptural geologists as well. Four of the most geologically competent scriptural
geologists were George Young, George Fairholme, John Murray and William Rhind.8 Their writings
demonstrated extensive reading in the scientific (especially geological) literature of their day as well
as considerable investigations of geological formations. They were men of strong Christian faith and
respected character. Coincidentally these four were all Scottish (Mortenson, 2003).
Weaknesses:
I believe with all of the information that Dr. Terry Mortenson gives, he could have given more
biblical quotes backing his beliefs. He speaks of the flood, but gives no information from the Bible
itself. Catastrophists believed that the creation was untold ages old and that from time to time over
those ages before man there had been several major catastrophic floods that destroyed a large
percentage of living creatures, which God replaced with new, supernaturally created species (
Mortenson, 2003). Had he backed up his beliefs with more information from the bible, I think I
would have believed more myself. He speaks a lot on old theology studies, more towards the
1600s. I think he could have given examples from closer to the time frame the article is actually
about.
Conclusion:
All in all I think the article itself was great. Could he have done better? Yes, but so could
America s First National General Interest Daily Newspaper...
USA Today debuted in 1982 as America s first national general interest daily newspaper by Allen H.
Gannett who was Chairman of Gannett Co., Inc., until 1989. Now this company is worth around
$4.7billions and Gannett is a global information juggernaut that publishes 82 daily and 700 nondaily
newspapers and affiliated websites, operates 23 broadcast television stations reaching 18.2 percent of
the U.S. population. Gannett newspapers including USA Today, have combined circulation of 11.6
million readers every weekday and 12 million readers every Sunday and total online audience is
roughly 52 million unique visitors per month. Gannett is currently the largest U.S. newspapergroup
in terms of circulation.
Even though USA Today is a national newspaper, it is written in shorter piece and sprinkled with
eye catching, colorful photos, graphs, and charts designed to address the needs of a sound byte
generation, which are never consider by any other media source and it makes the USA Today s
content refreshing and more engaging than other papers. Because of this the USA Today s
circulation grew rapidly from roughly 350,000 in 1982 to approximately 5.9 million daily print and
online readers today. When comparing USA Today with other competitors like the Wall Street
Journal, which has 2.12 million subscriptions and the New York Times, which has 1.58 million
subscriptions, the USA Today remains the number one print newspaper and USAToday.com, is the

Essay on Plagiarism
According to the code of conduct at Clarion University plagiarism is the use of another s words
without attribution and without enclosing the words in quotation marks. Plagiarism may also be
defined as the act of taking the ideas or expressions of ideas of another person and representing
them as one s own even if the original paper has been paraphrased or otherwise modified. (
Department of Nursing ) A lot of people, including myself have been confused of what plagiarism
really means. Through my research I found that there are many different kinds of plagiarism and
that a lot of people do it without even being aware they are. I have made the mistake of thinking that

Barnbaum) If there is a direct quote that would be useful then the quote needs taken directly with
both quotes and citations, or when paraphrasing information it needs to be cited. If neither of
these is done then it is plagiarizing. (C. Barnbaum) This form of plagiarism is what I think a lot
of people do because they may agree with another person s thoughts and then want to make it in
to their own so they will change a few words around to make it sound like their own words. The
third type of plagiarism I have found is called Style Plagiarism. (C. Barnbaum) This plagiarism is
said to be the most common trap that students fall into. (C. Barnbaum) Even if you aren t copying
word for word but the same sentence or paragraph order is followed then this would be plagiarism
because this is considered taking the authors reasoning style. (C. Barnbaum) Plagiarism does not
always mean copying information but it can also be stealing the writing format as well. I think
this can be considered a trap because people think it s not okay to steal information but taking the
order, outline, flow, or style it is written in is different but really it is still a form of plagiarism.
The next kind of plagiarism is called Metaphor plagiarism which is not always taking information
word for word but using the same comparison or words to describe something. (C. Barnbaum) An
original idea that someone else takes
The Journalist, Poet And Author G. K.
The journalist, poet and author G. K. Chesterton is perhaps best known for his series of detective
short stories, Father Brown, adapted into a TV series in 2013. Nevertheless, he should perhaps
be best known as a leading figure in the renaissance of Catholic thought in England his writings
are known to have influenced many figures in 20th century Christian apologetics, including, most
famously, C. S. Lewis, who discussed Chesterton s influences on his life and work in his
autobiography, Surprised by Joy (Lewis, 1955). His perspectives on English identity, as well as
the nature of nationality and social belonging, disseminated through various essays and articles in
London newspapers (including his own publication, G. K. s Weekly), were both based on a firm
belief in the importance of Christian traditions in society, in addition to vehement opposition
against Puritan ideas, arguably in response to Victorian attitudes. Throughout his work, Chesterton
focused on what he saw as the needs and values of the ordinary man, extolling an optimistic view
of everyday life as extraordinary. The need for symbolism and idealism is, in his opinion, an
expression of this view; it is the main focus of his 1904 work, The Napoleon of Notting Hill. In this
novel, Chesterton explores the idea of national and regional identity. Set in a 1984 that is almost
identical to Chesterton s own time (except for the random selection of the King), it explores the
aftermath of the establishment of the
Virtual Private Network ( Vpn ) Technology
Abstract:
A virtual private network (VPN) technology creates an encrypted connection over a network. VPN is
useful to exchange information between offices securely. VPN has advantages over traditional
private networks and dedicated links. Tunneling techniques are used to implement VPN. This paper
describes the various tunneling technologies like, IPSec, PPTP, GRE and L2TP used in virtual private
network. It concludes by comparing these technologies and their use for given selection criteria.

I.Introduction:
A virtual private network enables us to send data between machines across different networks. VPN
has all the characteristics of a private network. It allows only authorized users to access network
related services and resources. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data being sent is encrypted for confidentiality. The packets over the link are indecipherable
without the encryption keys. If one of the router is destroyed in the communication link it
automatically rebuilds a new communication path so the communication gets rerouted through a
new path.
The VPN connection across the Internet logically operates as a wide area network (WAN) link
between the two sides.
Advantages of VPN:
VPN has several advantages over the dial up networks and leased lines. The capacity of these
lines is available at all times but fixed and flexible. The traffic on these private networks belong
only to the company deploying the network. There is an assured level of performance but it comes
with a very high price [4].
The traditional private networks are expensive to deploy and plan. The cost is extremely high when
it involves international locations. Further, the dedicated links take time to install and activate the
link. Therefore, using VPN utilizes the ubiquity of the Internet and convenience for dynamic
building and maintenance [3]. Moreover VPN facilitates an agile IT infrastructure. VPN also
supports a mobile workforce a reliable authentication mechanism is supported by VPN to provide
easy access to Internet from anywhere using available access media including analog modems,
ISDN, cable modems, ISDN and DSL at significantly lower cost.
Types of VPN connections:
There are two types of VPN

Julius Caesar- Rise to Prominence
Julius Caesar s rise to prominence up until 60BC transpired due to a number of factors. The first
of these being his family background and Marian connections, which at varying stages of his life
were both a help and a hindrance. We can also note that most of his marriages were used to gain
political and financial resources accentuating his connections to powerful families and individuals.
This rise to prominence can also be attributed to Caesar s opportunistic nature and vast ambitions
coupled with his education and specialised tuition in the art of rhetoric, skills essential to gain
popularity and political office. Additionally his acquisition of religious titles added prestige and
status to his name while providing him with an array of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Caesar s ambition, nature and education allowed him to establish himself as a skilled lawyer and
orator to enhance his prominence among the people. Caesar s collection of religious titles
contributed to increasing his influence and provided him with an array of religious powers. As a
young man Caesar was appointed Flamen Dialis with help from his Uncle Gaius Marius a position
that provided little power although establishing Caesar as a Populare supporter. Plutarch tells us
that, To this candidacy Sulla secretly opposed himself, and took measures to make Caesar fail in it.
5 Many years later after acquiring the title of pontifex in 73BC, a highly prestigious and renowned
position Caesar was elected into the office of Pontifex Maximus a short decade later. This surprised
his opponents who had expected the more distinguished Optimate candidates
