These questions are agreed from both sides and aimed at gathering basic
demographic information voluntarily and establishing rapport with the participants in
comfortable way.
To start, can you please state your full name, and tell me a bit about yourself? (age, year
level).
Olita, Aldrex B. 22 years old, 4rth year college
What kind of work do you do? (Job title, industry, full-time/part-time status within their job,
average weekly work hours, work schedule flexibility.) I’m a part time worker at Carrascal
Nickel Corporation as a Spotter my average salary is 8k, by working 8 hours a day 6 days
a week.
Why did you choose to study criminology while taking part-time? (The reasons, personal
goal, or other commitments).
I choose to study criminology because I want to be a A police officer someday, not just to
be a police but any of the tri bureau BJMP or BFP it depends on the opportunity and help
my family and give them a comfortable life and financially stable.

1. SOP 2: Factors that drives students to look for part-time employment
This section explores factors that drives students to look for part-time employment.
1.How important were the following factors in your decision to work part-time?
Could you tell me about the most important factors influencing your decision.
What motivated you to take up a part-time job while studying? To support my studies
and finished my college course, and to pursue my dreams in life and to help my family.
Thinking about things like finances, gaining experience, and personal
development, how important were each of those in your decision to work part-time?
I work part-time job it’s because my parents are not capable of supporting me of
my financial needs specially in my studies, I earn money with my part-time job to
support myself at the same time I’m able to give extra money to my parents to help
them on household needs and because of my job I can give allowances to my
siblings to support them in their studies too.
2. SOP 3: Challenges faced by Part-time criminology students in balancing work
and academic studies
This section explores the challenges faced by the student in balancing work and studies.
2.How did your part-time job impact your study habits?
2.1. Did you find it difficult to balance the demands of your studies and your
work? Yes, it’s difficult to balance academics and work but with hardwork
and dedication I’m now a gradwaiting student.
2.2. How do you balance your academic responsibilities with your part-time job?
Time management and changing my daily schedule in my classes I ask to
the registrar to Change my schedule from 7:30 am to 9:00 so that I can
attend my class everyday. 3- 4 subjects per day.
2.3. What challenges have you faced in managing both work and studies? Going
to school tired and sleepless.
3. SOP 4: Dual Responsibility
In this sections investigate the dual responsibilities of students.
3. How do you balance your academic responsibilities with your part time job?
3.1. Do you prioritize studies over work? I do it by studying day time and working
night time fucos on school in day time and rest when no classes. And go to
work at night time but after that I make sure I already finished home works
or activities given by our instructor.
3.2. Did your part-time job affect your class participation, attendance, or
engagement in school activities? No, because in my work I can still sleep
just 1-2 hours sleep, specially when it’s raining because when raining
there’s no loading or operation, So I don’t have reasons to be absent but
sometimes when I’m sick I excuse not to attend our class.
3.3.Are you able to balance work and academic responsibilities? Yes, by time
management and work wise not work hard.
