The Father Of All Monsters
Richard Zepeda
Professor Macias
College Writing 111
7 April 2016 The Father of All Monsters Typhon, the force to be reckoned with and the one that
only few can match. This terrifying beast is definitely not your ordinary monster; according to
Hesiod s The Theogony he is a son of Gaia (the earth) and Tartarus (the depths of hell). Though, as
stated in The Homeric Hymn, Typhon was the child of Hera without help. Hera was angry at Zeus
for giving birth to Athena by himself, so she prayed to Gaia to give her a son that was as powerful
as Zeus, after that Hera whacked the floor and she became pregnant. Hera then gave her baby
Typhon to the serpent Python to take care of, and Typhon grew up to become a great annoyance to
mortals. There are many different stories of how this creature came about; nonetheless neither can
discredit this monster as being the most fierce and terrifying. Typhon is said to have been the most
ferocious creature to have ever roamed the earth. Typhon is perhaps undoubtedly the most disturbing
and powerful monster in Greek mythology.
Typhon, however, was not just a monster, he was a god, being the son of the Gaia and Tartarus
gave him such title. Now just because Typhon is a son of gods, that alone does not make him one
of the most feared creatures in Greek mythology, rather than his ascribed status, it is Typhon s actual
physical appearance and capabilities that strike fear into his foes and anyone else who comes across
his path. This
United States Marine Corps Campaign Advertisement Essay
The campaign advertisement ran by the United States Marine Corps uses versatile imagery and a
connotative language approach to strategically attract minority women. The print ad shows a
female Marine in a defensive martial arts pose on looked by a crowd of men in what seems to be a
combat training session implying she is the leader. The tag line: There are no female Marines. Only
Marines suggests that women who join the Marines will have equal standing with men in their
organization. The ad itself appears to be in a military instructional setting. The viewer s eye is
immediately drawn to the central focus of the document; a strong, physically fit African American
woman in a combat stance, facilitating the techniques of martial arts.... Show more content on

The objective appeal is that the advertisers would like you to enlist in the Marine Corps.
To a generation of women who have become used to the glass ceiling , or have become
complacent with making seventy five cent on the dollar as compared to their male counterparts,
the simple visual of the strong empowered female who has a group of men at her command can
be very compelling. Similarly, in our current recession, formatting of the word into a Want ad is a
very strong pull. This appears to be a viable solution for unemployed women, minorities, and
recent high school graduates seeking employment in a market that is not very receptive right now.
This is not a job, it a career, a lifestyle, this woman is in command and you can be too. The
strategies employed in this ad and the emotions this advertisement speaks volumes about the
company that produced it. The military has always been something of a man s world , where men
were on the front lines, and running the show, and if a female were present she would be seen in a
nurses uniform. This ad is a public statement by the Marines into equalization of the sexes, and a
huge leap into the present societal mindset that women are in fact, able to do anything men are. It is
a modernization of an established military branch. This ad shows that the US Marine Corps
recognizes their traditional enlistment strategies did not appeal to women. More importantly,
demonstrating willingness to revise their
A Controversial Issue Of Pi
A controversial issue for this book would definitely be the religion. Pi s mother and father found
it totally absurd to have more than one religion, and contradicting ones at that. As did the pandit,
the priest, and the imam. In the book, there is a three page long argument between the priest, the
imam, the pandit, and Pi s parents all claiming the other is mistaken and that Pi is a Muslim or a
Hindu or a Christian. Pi blurts out, Bapu Gandhi said, All religions are true. I just want to love
God, (Martel 69). Another controversial issue dealing with Life of Pi that is not necessarily in the
book but rather dealing with people who have read the book. Many people believe the story Pi
tells about being at sea with the animals is truth, while others believe it is with people. There have
actually been debates on whether or not the people version is true. Which, in the book, it says, So
tell me, since it makes no factual difference to you and you can t prove the question either way,
which story do you prefer? Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without
animals? (Martel 317). It does not actually state which story is the truth, but the reader must make
their own inference to piece together what they think.
Yann Martel was born June 25, 1963. His parents are civil servants and were of French Canadian
descent. In the years of his childhood, Martel lived in many places including Costa Rica, France,
India, Iran, Mexico, Turkey, Canada, and the United
A Short Note On Corporate Credit Card Agreement With...
My most recent negotiation experience was renegotiating my company s corporate credit card
agreement with American Express. In my experience, contract renegotiation is typically less
intensive than the initial negotiation of an agreement with a new vendor, especially if both parties
are happy with the current relationship and services being provided. However, in this case, there
were a few things that made this negotiation a little different from previous contract renegotiations.
First, we had just been assigned a new account manager. In many of our other vendor relationships,
account managers come and go. However, my organization has had a 32 year long relationship with
American Expressas a corporate credit cardprovider. And, more than half of this relationship was
with our most recent account representative, who we obviously had a very good relationship with.
And, even though I have held various positions in different departments, I, myself have either been
directly or indirectly involved with this relationship and account manager for the past 10 years. This
made previous negotiations run smoothly. Our general perception was that our account manager was
working in our best interest, which was a tremendous value.
However, we weren t as happy with our newly assigned account manager. He didn t understand our
business or needs as customers, and also didn t seem interested in learning. Most of our interaction
with him was various attempts to try to sell us
Hydrochloric Acid Lab

Bicarbonate. The effectiveness of the antacid tablet was measured by how much NaOH was added
to the antacid and HCl solution, and the results indicated that the brand name product consumed
0.00391 mol of HCl compared to the off brand product that consumed 0.00250 mol of HCl which
shows that the name brand product was a better antacid. Introduction: In this experiment, two
different types of antacid tablets is used to determine which one is more effective. The two types
that are used are Tums and an off brand generic version of Tums from Walgreens. According to the

Analysis of Super Size Me
Analysis of Super Size Me
Morgan Spurlock decided to make this documentary to investigate the fast food companies, and the
effects of certain fast food chains products, particularly McDonalds, on the health of society. This
Documentary explores the United States growing epidemic of obesity and diabetes as well. Morgan
decides to eat nothing but McDonald s food for thirty days. He must eat one of everything on the
menu at least once, and when asked to super size his meal he must do so. Another stipulation of
Morgan s experiment is that he can only take 5,000 steps a day to replicate the exercise that most
average Americans get on a daily basis. He must also eat three meals a day, no exceptions and if

He was told that he might do permanent damage to his liver due to having to metabolize all of the
excess fat in his new diet. Not to my surprise, McDonalds did not want to participate in this
documentary whatsoever and did not ever give Morgan the interview that he sought after, even
after over 15 telephone calls. In a sense that obesity is a growing epidemic I think that the
documentary was fairly realistic, but who actually eats McDonalds three times a day? Morgan
did say that 22% of all McDonald s consumers were known as super heavy users, which means that
they eat McDonald s food 3 times a week or more. I think Morgan conveyed his negative opinions
about the fast food chains, particularly McDonalds very well although there may have been
some dramatization. The people who are most affected by McDonalds marketing and pricing
practices are definitely kids and/or lower budget people. The cheap food that supposedly fills you
up for longer due to the long list of ingredients in it is easy for lower income families to provide.
The extent to which McDonalds is marketed to children can be seen in the installation of
playgrounds, birthday party hosting, toys with kid s meals, Ronald McDonald the clown, and
many other sly advertising techniques such as a cartoon on TV. All of these marketing techniques
lure kids in at an early age. Uneducated people are more likely to eat at McDonalds at a larger scale
because many times they are not informed of

Now a days, people demands faster applications; also, people expect the website or app should be
compatible across devices such as desktop, mobile, and tablets. Fast loading websites make people
happy. Every day, new mobiles and tablets hitting the market with newer operating systems and

In addition, it is advisable to have a performance budget. Performance budget determines the limit
on the page load speed and the size of the requests. It should address if there are more elements to
accommodate how to handle it.
Page Optimization
Minifying the elements
CSS, Images, and JS files are the core elements for the better performance. Minifying the CSS,
Images, and JS files will leads to huge performance improvement. E.g. if the website built on
WordPress framework, there would be many of number of CSS, Images, and JS files scattered
across various location. This would lead to more time to load in the devices.
However, by integrating all the files into one single location, user can feel better load time. It will
reduce the number of requests sent from client to browser.
Page Size
Also, size of the each request matters for the performance. Assume that if the end user bandwidth
is 256KB per second, if the number requests size is 1 MB then the load time will be at least 4
seconds. If there is a poor network, then the load time will be more than 4 seconds. Therefore, it is
ideal to have minimum number of requests with less size.
Image format
Consider your client application is an online book selling portal. Definitely, the home page will
have more number of images, of course more number of requests. There are many formats available
for images: PNG, JPEG/JPG, GIF and so on. Selecting the right format, which
Salt Lake City Case
Public Problem Analysis In order to effectively propose a policy change or implementation, it is
quintessential that the definition of the current problem be outlined. Kraft and Furlong definition of
problem refers to the existence of an unsatisfactory set of conditions for which relief is sought, either
through private means or from the government. In the example of Salt Lake City, Utah the
municipality faces the immediate financial burden of funding the golf course. Due to the lack of
revenue generated from patronage of the golf course the city has assumed financial responsibility in
effort to serve a very small demographic of niche users. As a policyanalyst I have identified that the
key underlying issue of Salt Lake City, Utah golf fund public problemis the underuse of the amenity,
which in effect has decreased revenues causing the current deficient and threating further strains on
budget and tax payers. The underuse of the golf course represents the actual condition for which
measure need to be taken. Any policy alternative must address this fundamental condition and seek
to boost the overall use of the golf course by residents. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Governments can essentially take advantage of the market and use it as a policy solution.
Solutions which adhere to market mechanisms as a base tend to act as laws (supply) which
reflect that of the demand. Salt Lake City could allow the principle of supply and demand to
govern the oversight of the golf courses. For example, golf courses which have a higher
percentage and stable base of clientele may incur an increase in annual membership fees. Whereas,
golf courses with lower demands could be re purposed or sold to private developers. Any each
instance government is allowing the market to dictate decision making. Salt Lake City would
establish a time table by which they would measure market failure or
Rhetoric Summary
Many look at the subject of history as sifting through facts and personal accounts to uncover the
events of the past. However, history is more than dry facts. History often intertwines with culture to
give a more well rounded view of particular places and people. In the nineteenth century, nationalism
began to take hold in Europe. While it might be common to think of nationalism in terms of revolt,
nationalism also served as a unifying force through cultural elements, such as folklore. Individuals
from around the world began collecting folk tales, songs, and dances that contributed to the
centralization of nationalistic movements that created independent nations. One such collector was

Folklore was directly connected with Romantic nationalism, because it embodies the traditional
elements of the way of life of a group of people and the creative expressions developing naturally
as a part of this way of life. 14 Tangible cultural artifacts such as stories, dances, ballads, and hand
crafts reveal general beliefs of particular groups.15Child embodied the Romantic nationalism
movement. When Child recorded the English and Scottish Popular Ballads, he specifically wrote in
the vernacular and dialect of the groups where he collected the stories and songs. Also, his
bibliography lists over fifty manuscripts in addition to several hundred printed collections. For each
ballad, he included every version he knew of. He preceded each ballad with a note explaining its
origin and its parallels in world literature, referencing texts in over forty languages. 16 Child
researched manuscripts from England and Scotland, particularly old manuscripts that had transcribed
the words of actual singers before cheap printing had allowed corruptions to creep into the texts. To
retain the authenticity of the ballads, he planned to use only works orally transmitted by uneducated
people. 17 Additionally, Child sought both advice and aid from scholarly communities located in
Britain and North America, especially Child s fellow Harvard scholars during
Analysis Of sleepless On Seattle, The Communication...
In applying the above theories to the movie Sleepless in Seattle, the communication privacy
management theory appears several times throughout the film. Annie has two contrasting
experiences with privacy boundaries. Annie is engaged Walter, a wonderfully kind and gentle man,
who absolutely adores her, but has an obvious character flaw with his constant talk of allergies.
Annie gives the impression that she is incredibly happy with Walter when in reality she is quite
bored with him. While Annie loves Walter s tenderness, she can t disclose her deep dark secrets
with him, especially her doubts about their engagement and feelings of she s just settling for what s
good for her and not the magic that Sam describes during his radio interview. She cannot stop
thinking of Sam and Jonahafter listening in on a talk show radio broadcast as she s driving one
evening. Sam s words are constantly on Annie s mind and she begins to wonder if Sam is possibly
her soul mate. With Walter she has a thick, impenetrable wall that is holding in her deep secrets. At
one point, she hides in a closet one night while Walter is sleeping so she can listen to Sam speaking
on the radio. When Walter catches her in the closet, she lies to him instead of confessing her
apprehensions and obsession. Throughout the entire film, she struggles with herself for withholding
this important information from Walter, but she has total ownership of that private information and
does not feel the need to

Six Types Of A Chemical Reaction
Some people may ask what exactly is a chemical reaction? A chemical reaction is a process that
involves rearrangement of the molecular or ionic structure of a substance. There is six types of
chemical reactions named Synthesis, Decomposition, Single Replacement, Double Replacement,
Combustion, and Acid base reactions.
Synthesis is when two or more reactants combine to form one product. Synthesis always forms a
compound. The equation for synthesis is A + B AB. Water, which is H2O is a good example of a
synthesis reaction. An example of a synthesis reaction is when a metal or nonmetal reacts with
oxygen to form an oxide. One way that synthesis reactions connect to the real world is salt. Salt is a
synthesis reaction of NaCl which is sodium chloride. The equation would be Sodium (Na) +
Chlorine (Cl) Sodium Chloride (NaCl) and this would make it a synthesis reaction.
The opposite of a synthesis reaction would be a decomposition reaction. A decomposition reaction
is when one reactant is broken down into two or more products. This means a compound is broken
down into separate products. The equation would be the opposite of synthesis which is AB A + B.
An example of a decomposition reaction is 2H2O 2H2 + O2. The lab we did in chemistry class called
Electrolysis of Water is a good example of decomposition because decomposition was produced by
passing an electric current through the substance in the container with the screw and nail inside
which represent the
Improving My Worldview
That s what I want to know. That s what I ve always wanted to know. Hell, it s what I ve built a
worldview on, a life on. Observation and speculation, understanding and knowledge. I ve always
felt so damn interested in.. Well, everything. But there s a reason for that, a reason I didn t really
realize fully until just now. Just a disclaimer: Maybe I m pulling the reason out of my ass; I sort of
doubt the validity of anyone s true ability to fully know themselves, or anyone, or anything... But I
thought this warranted some expression of my thoughts.
I constantly seek knowledge to improve my worldview. I seek to improve my worldview because I
