The Paleo Diet By Loren Cordain
The Lemonade Cleanse
In the article, The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain, the author talks about America s fascination with
diet fads, telling readers about their widespread appeal as a fix all for America s health problems and
obesity. I have to admit, like a lot of people, I am a bandwagon jumper. Whether this new fad be a
new fashion trend or a new video game sensation, chances are that I ve tried it. And new diet fads
are no exception for me.
One of the things that has become popular today is the cleanse. Cleanses can take many forms, but
the main function of these is to detox the body. Many scientists, such as Dr. Joy Dubost, a dietitian
and food scientist, warn people to shy away from such cleanses that claim to give the body a total
detox. Dubost states that, Your body has built in mechanisms for detoxification, including your liver,
kidneys, and gastrointestinal system. Going on a cleanse is not going to aide these bodily systems
in doing their job. These are short term diets that often consist solely of liquids that contain very
little caloric value and can often make going on a cleanse dangerous.
As a child, like many American children, I ate relatively unhealthily. For breakfast I would have
sugary cereal and lunch and dinner usually followed up with something equally bad for my health.
However, after each one of these meals I would dart outside to run around and play with my best
friend. My high energy and active lifestyle allowed me to get away with my diet at
Bankruptcy Fraud And Its Effects On The Lower Income Brackets
Crimes are perceived to be committed by those in the lower income brackets that are in desperate
needs financially. History, however, has been shown that those who are financially wealthy take
advantage of opportunities that could help further destroy the lower and middle class as well by
using bankruptcy fraud. The average white collar worker has more resources and power to
deprive people, especially when it comes to the basic necessities in life. The basic need of having
good credit is the dream everyone wants in order to be financially strong. Since the use of
bankruptcy fraud has become notorious in today s society, gaining proper knowledge with regards to
the effects and penalties of the crimehelps build awareness and deter... Show more content on

That being said, one of the bustouts that have been known to effect the society as a whole is the type
that occurs in a retail enviroment. A bustout that occurs in a retail environment occurs when a
potential store owner purchases a location or merchandise with intentions to file bankruptcy with
anticipation that he or she is unable to afford the asset (Brown, Nettles, Tallinn and Tighe, 1999).
Whether a person owes money to the merchant or not, eviction or the confiscation of items cant be
done immediately since the judge always have final say as to what occurs under this situation.
Unfortunately, while everything is going on, the merchant is loosing out because the money is
being collected on the side with anticipation to move his or her location out, gain profit with the
merchandise and file Chapter 7 bankruptcy (Brown, Nettles, Tallinn and Tigne, 1999). In addition to
using the retail approach for obtaining a large profit all while anticipating to file bankruptcy, a
white collar criminal will also use the credit card approach as well. In this case, the fraudster will
start out his damage as a ordinary individual with good credit since the criminals main objective is
to attack secretly. In this case, since the credit card holder will be obtaining credit in order to raise
their credit limit, the person will apply for multiple credit cards and than max them out

The Epic Symbols Of Good Versus Evil In Beowulf
Beowulf shows a battle between religions in the hero as he deals with the battling major conflicts
and his last final battle. The unknown author does an extraordinary job characterizing Beowulf as
brave and loyal, plus other values that heroes shown. This develops the epic describing the
Christianity versus paganism comparisons that is shown by Good versus Evil. Beowulfforetold as a
warrior one of the greatest of the Geats, we have Grendel, his Mother, and the dragon, that are
symbols of evil. Grendel is described as a demon, a fiend, just pure evil, Grendel s Mother is pictured
as a greedy she wolf , the dragon symbolizes evil itself. The epic begins with celebration stirring the
monster known as Grendel. Grendel awoken by them and set out during night, snatched up thirty
men leaving Hrothgar and the rest of his men to mourn. Beowulf hears this and starts the journey to
assist Hrothgar and his men. In this literature piece, the author uses much symbolism and references
towards Christianity and paganism, thus creates an spiritual battle between these two religions
through the entire epic and intertwines the two religions and the conflicts through the hero Beowulf.
The epic poem states A powerful monster, living downin the darkness, growled in pain, impatient as
day after day the music rang loud in that hall the monster Grendel is disturbed by the rejoicing

Afterlife
Since the beginning of human life on Earth, one question has bothered our society more than
anything else. This question, as easiest as it might sound, is the one question that had driven our
society more and more towards new ideas, new inventions, and new perspectives. Is the one
question that while trying to give an answer to it, has defined us: from reasonable to unreasonable,
from the most intelligent creation that has ever walked on the face of the Earth, to simply: beasts
Man, by nature, is a curious being, always wondering, always asking, and always searching for one
thing that he does not have, for one thing that he does not know. Always why and how and what.

Talmud gives another interpretation, which is that after death the soul is brought to judgment, and
those who have lived a pure life will enter into the World to Come and sinners will enter
Gehenna a place for the purification of the soul. Another perspective for the afterlife according to
Judaism is Reincarnation, even though we do not have any example in the
Talmud for this, reincarnation is strongly emphasized by rabbis throughout the world.
(Buber, 1928).Two other religious, both based on Judaism, Christianity and Islam, shared the same
ideas about the afterlife. According to Christian scriptures, as well as in Islamic one, people after
their death go either to heaven or hell. In Islamic belief are known as Jannat and Jahannam. Once
they are dead their soul will be judged and the righteous and those who are free of sin will go to
paradise, those who are judge as carrying mortal sins will go to hell. Earthly life is only a
temporary one; it is only a test for those who want to enter Heaven s gate and worship their creator
eternally. In Western and Middle Eastern civilization, the perception for the afterlife is quite the
same, you either go to heaven or hell. But in Eastern religions such perception is not acceptable. In

The Passionate Subject of Religious Liberty Essay
The concept of religious liberty is at the core of global attention in recent times in the light of
religious extremities in different aspects of national existence. The subject of religious liberty is a
particularly touchy and sensitive issue as it evokes passion, devotion and unbridled allegiance
amongst adherents of various religious beliefs. Although an aspect of the broad concept of human
liberties and equality, it is a subject which commands special attention as religious tenets play a vital
role in defining certain liberties and equalities in various societies.
Gender inequality for instance is an integral part of certain religious beliefs which subjugate females
to less commanding roles subservient to men. Furthermore, sexual ... Show more content on

For instance, the trend towards criminalization of homosexuality in most African countries is
predicated on the prohibition of such sexual orientation and practice by Christianity and Islamic
religions.
Regardless of which ideology a state adopts, a common issue which arises is the protection of
religious liberty of the people of the state. Religious liberty simply means the freedom of citizens to
practice their chosen religion without fear, harassment, or suppression either by virtue of state
policy or as a result of religious intolerance by fellow citizens or groups. Religious intolerance is a
constant problem in most countries of the world today as adherents of various religious beliefs
attempt to suppress adherents of other religious under the misguided belief of the superiority of
their religious belief over others. Such religious Nazism based on misguided claims to superiority
of particular religions have wreaked havoc in places such as the Balkans where genocide was
committed on religious basis and even the Hindu Islamic strife in India and Myanmar have deep
rooted religious colorations arising from religious intolerance by adherents of different religious
beliefs.
In non secular states, religious liberties of citizens are restricted and curtailed in favour of the state
religion adopted. In such states, the struggle for religious liberty is a constant battle

Paris Gown Deep Research Essay The story, Paris Gown, by Estella Portillo Trambley, really
inspired me to find out more about women s issues, especially Mexican and Mexican American
women because not only am I am a female, I am also half Mexican. Teresa and Clo, (Teresa s
grandmother), are the main characters in this story and it starts out with Teresa asking Clo about
how she came to be in Paris. Clo tells the story of her own liberation from her very old fashioned
father and the extreme that she went through in order to liberate herself. I have always wondered
how much the gender roles have changed or evolved not only in Mexico, but in Mexican culture
here in America as well. I m hoping to find that things are extremely better now for Mexican
women then they used to be. Clo grew up in a time when the gender roles for Mexican women
were more traditional and her father really only expected her to get married and not much else.
Her father actually arranged for her to be married to a wealthy man that was her father s age. All
Clo wanted to do was go to art school in Paris but her father ignored her pleas. On the day of the
wedding, Clo came down the stairs naked and embarrassed her father so much so that he sent her
away to the art school in Paris with money to help keep her away. The article Self Construal, Career

Ophelia Analysis
William Shakespeare s Hamlet is an intense play of physiological warfare between Hamlet and
everyone else he deems an enemy, going as far to make an enemy of himself. Hamlet then takes
action on his deranged thoughts leading to a chain of events that keeps the play moving forward and
the audience engaged, however, the audience seems to shine the lights around Hamletand focus on
him and his story alone, rightfully so, after all the play is named Hamlet and it centers around his
families issues. Yet, there is far more to be known and understood from the meanings hidden within
the words by Shakespeare. One neglected character whose suffering runs far deeper than Hamlets is
Ophelia s.
In the beginning, many things happen to our main character Hamlet, the most troubling crisis for
the young prince would be the recent passing of his father. Now anyone who has any empathy can
understand why this would be a difficult time for Hamlet, however, his list of problems only grows
from there. Not long after the King s death the Queen, Hamlet s mom marries. This greatly upsets
Hamlet as he thinks that she is already over his father s death and their joyous marriage was faked.
What is even more upsetting is the man Gertrude is marrying just so happens to be the late King s
brother, Hamlet s uncle. Hamlet is grieving and watching with anger and frustration while the rest of
his family and his country are celebrating the newlyweds, neglecting his father s death, things just
don t stop

An example of my naiveté lies in the domain of biblical teachers. My ideas were rebuked in James
3:1. The Jubilee Bible translates it: My brethren, make not unto yourselves many teachers, knowing
that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
It took me a long time to piece the meaning together because I had not considered anything beyond
the surface. Many had taught me through classes and commentaries that this was merely a
statement of warning for teachers, and I accepted it because it did not conflict with anything I
already knew to be fact. This was my interpretation of it: Be careful about becoming a teacher
because you will be called to a higher judgment. A warning for teachers to be prepared and to take
their work seriously, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I understood that we had to be selective, and for a long time I tried to balance that idea with the
idea of everyone becoming a teacher. I took it as a challenge to spend more time training people
to become teachers, thinking that it was my duty to help every member find his or her place as a
teacher. This was misguided. Whether I understand the reasons behind the fact that I was
misguided is not the issue. I have theories that will continue to develop. The important thing here is
to admit that I know I was misguided because the Bible stood directly opposed to what I thought.
According to James 1, my only alternative is to admit that my ideas and wisdom are nothing
compared to God s and fall in line with what He teaches instead of becoming defensive, angry, or
talking myself out of
Research Paper On Juan Ponce De Leon
Born in 1460, Juan Ponce de Leon was made to be an explorer. Coming from a poor yet noble
family in Santervás de Campos, Spain, Juan Ponce de Leon wanted to explore and obtain more
money. He served as a page on the court of Aragon where he learned social skills, military tactics,
and religion. He served in the military and fought using the military tactics he had acquired in the
previous years. He became a conquistadorshortly after his time in the military. As all conquistadors
do, Juan Ponce de Leon sought for fame and fortune; he sought to explore and go to the New
World. Ponce de Leon was very determined to explore and discover new treasures and riches. In
this essay, we will discuss who Juan Ponce de Leon was and what he did, what Florida was like in

Juan Ponce de Leon was a Spanish conquistador who went on many expeditions to Florida around
the late 15th century and early 16th century. Ponce de Leon started his exploration in joining
Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the Americas in 1493. They landed in Hispaniola
and found a settlement to be destroyed and the sailors to be murdered. Columbus enforced a
forced labor policy and made the Natives rebuild the settlement and look for gold. In this voyage,
Ponce de Leon learned many skills and tactics in which he would use in later voyages. In 1508,
Ponce de Leon was sent to explore Puerto Rico and look for gold. He settled with 50 other
soldiers in what is now San Juan and became the first governor of the eastern part of the country
in 1509. He also discovered the Dry Tortugas, 10 small keys southwest of Key West. Ponce de
Leon was governor for two years until he was replaced by the Columbus s son. He then sailed north
through the Bahamas in search of new
Comparing Coachella, Larkfest And The Marley Fast
Festivals make so much money in the beginning of the year. Festivals like Coachella, LarkFest, and
The Marley Fest are the most popular in the country. Most parents give their teenagers festival
tickets as a christmas present so they can have fun. What most parents don t know is that in the
festivals their kids can easily smoke and drink. The festivals are the most popular because it is easy
for young adults to consume drugs. The LarkFest is an example of how easy young adults can get
alcoholic beverages. Larkfest has relaxed on the I.D. policy for purchasing drugs and alcohol.
Coachella is most known for the consumption of cocaine and use of marijuana. Coachella tickets cost
around $400. Since the Coachella Festival is close to the start ... Show more content on

I understand that venders at the festivals will lose profit but it is the law that they shouldn t sell
drugs or alcohol to underage drinkers. I would focus on the I.D. policy and not care about the
money because I know I would be saving teenage lives. That would be the ethical thing to do. I think
that the publishing of drugs should be banned from sites that teens might use. They should publish
the Festival drugs but on adult websites.
Does my decision harm anyone? I don t think my choice harms anyone because people can still sell
but they should be aware of the I.D. policy. The vendors lose profit but they will be helping teenage
lives.
My fifth step I cannot prove because no one has seen my decision. To conclude my research I never
thought that underage drinking and smoking was a common case until i began. I don t think teens
know the trouble they may get into in the later
Essay On Social Inequities In America
Social Inequity Paper
People can not put on the news without seeing at least one story about social inequality or injustice,
if everyone knows about these inequities why are they not being solved? Inequities are not limited
to America, social inequity is a global problem making it extremely important to raise awareness of
the topic. Inequities such as racism and sexism impact teenagers in America, but to counteract this
persecution authors can use various genres of literature to promote tolerance and reduce the effects
of inequities. Racism and sexism violates people s rights in schools, the workplace, and almost
every place in the world. Through the words of authors, society can learn the harmful effects of these
inequities, and learn how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Speeches and music are great ways to bring awareness to inequalities around the globe. Music
created by artists can help support many causes, through their lyrics people subconsciously learn
about social inequities. Known throughout the world, Youssou N Dour is a musical peacemaker
in his native Senegal and lends his words and music to critical campaigns, such as malaria
prevention programmes. (Da Silva) Another example is Oliver Mtukudzi, a musician from
Zimbabwe, who helps raise awareness of diseases by shaping his lyrics to inspire people to help
his causes. Yet another example is Angelique Kidjo, an ambassador of goodwill, who helps
causes like hunger by singing about them. In synopsis, music has a major effect on social
inequities and can greatly help change to our society. Lastly, speeches have had the biggest impact
on our society out of any genre of literature. Susan B. Anthony greatly paved a path for women s
rights by tenaciously campaigning to get women s rights to be equal to men s. For example, she
helped women get the right to vote. Correspondingly, in The Gettysburg Address, Lincoln focused
on fixing the inequality of slavery and helping colored people gain equal rights. When Martin
Luther King gave the I Have A Dream speech, he completely changed social inequities by greatly
decreasing racism. Africans found a particularly poignant
Authorship Essay
Authorship: Acknowledging your contribution Based on my observation of colleagues who were
involved in collaborative research or article writing, I found that many of them did not talk of
authorship order prior or during the execution of a project. As a result, there was often somebody
in the team who felt that they were being excluded or being in the wrong order once the article is
published. Due to the fact that decisions regarding promotion, tenure, and salary are heavily
influenced by the number of publications in peer reviewed and by the number of first authored
publications (Costa Gatz, 1992) and there can be only one first author, the decisions of authorship
order can become a complicated issue. In the case of authorship... Show more content on

One of the strategies was to publish selected undergraduate students thesis by including the advisers
as co author. The university did not specifically decide the order of authorship and left the matter for
the adviser and the student to decide based on the amount of contribution that each party had made.
Here lied the problem : everybody ( the adviser and the student) had different perceptions on the
amount of work they feel they have contributed. By referring to the result of our group discussion
this week, I think the uncomfortable post publication situation regarding authorship order could be
prevented by implementing the following steps. First, use common sense in distributing task and
responsibilities for each member of the team and be clear about it. In case number one, for the
unhappy associate faculty, everything was clear until the publication, in which he was not
previously informed. Also, intellectual contribution should be placed as the highest. Research is a
data gathering activity that highly relies on intellectual capacity. APA (2009) clearly defines the kind
of contribution that a collaborative research project should perform: Substantial professional
contributions may include formulating the problem or hypothesis, structuring the experimental
design, organizing and conducting the statistical analysis, interpreting the results, or writing a major
portion
