Who Is Delia In Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston
Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back, is got to come under his belly . This statement was
said by the character Delia, in Sweat , a short story written by Zora Neal Hurston. Delia let her
husband, Sykes die on the floor after being bitten in the neck by a rattlesnake. Delia s actions in
Sweat were necessary, because she was defending herself, and was striving for independence.
Sykes and Delia s relationship was not a healthy or committed relationship. Sykes verbally and
physically abused Delia by beating her and by disrespecting her. In the reading, Walter Thomas
states, Ah sees im grinnin at every oman dat passes , which is him explaining that Sykes is
cheating on Delia and has continued to do it. In addition, Delia is constantly washing clothes and
working, because Sykes is throwing or stomping on them to purposely vex her. Although, Delia is
a strong person and can block out Sykes, which makes it a challenge for Sykes. There is no love in
the relationship between Delia and Sykes, but Delia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has been beaten, disrespected, and worked to the max. She can not take anything else in, and
can not stand to hear another remark from Sykes, which leads her to begin to defend herself,
because she knows she should be treated better. Later in the story, Sykes brings a snake home,
knowing that Delia fears snakes and can not bear them, but he brings it to taunt her anyways.
Furthermore, when Sykes try to get the snake to bite Delia by leaving it in the hamper, it instead
bites him instead, and he calls for help, but Delia does nothing. This was the one chance for Delia
to be done suffering, because she had spent 15 years with Sykes abusing her, so she took
advantage of it, ignored it and left him to die. Although, she let him die it was not wrong of her to
do, it was the right decision to make, and Sykes brought it to himself, because whatever goes over
the Devil s back, is got to come under his
Erikson Developmental Stages
This paper is about a very special person in my life, who is my mom. Her parents were originally
from Canada. In 1942 during World War 2 they migrated to the United States. They moved to the
United States so my grandpa didn t have to enlist in the war due to their culture. My mom was
born five years later in 1974 in Olivet, South Dakota. According to Erikson s theory we go through
eight different development stages in life. Each stage contains continual development and growth,
meaning we develop throughout our entire lives. In this paper, we look at every stage and how did
my mom achieve or fail to achieve the tasks Erikson claims happen in each stage.
1.Trust versus mistrust (Infancy 0 1.5)
In adulthood, we don t have recollections of this stage; however our beginnings are a very essential
starting point to our lives. During this stage it s important to develop trust, which follows people
their entire lifespan.
My grandmother was twenty three years old when my mom was born. She had a home birth and she
also breastfed my mother. It was very common during that time in the Hutterite culture to have
large families. My mom was the 3rd oldest out of 15 children and her siblings consisted of seven
brothers and seven sisters. My grandparents were very loving and ... Show more content on

It was a busy household, since she was the 3rd oldest and every 1.5 years another sibling was born.
This is the last stage where she doesn t have much of a recollection of her childhood. However, as
we know it s also a very important stage of development. During this timeframe children start asking
tons and tons of questions, which aid them in figuring out the world around them. The favorite
memory she does recall is her mom sitting each night and telling her and her brothers and sisters
bedtime stories. I am again taking the assumption that she achieved this stage with healthy
development that moved her into the next
Rosaura Optimistic About Good Things
However, Rosaura was optimistic about everything. She only saw the positive thing of the
people, not the positive side of them. Her mom told her the rich people did not treat her with
them and see her differently, but Rosaura response was straightforward. She said Rich people go
to heaven too I ve been invited. This is shown us how positive she was about people. She even
forgot her mom was working in the house of Luciana(Friend s of Rosaura). It s true that Luciana
would see Rosaura as a maid child not a friend. It s good to see all thing in a positive way because
you would not have any hate for other people even if they hurt you. At the same time, if you see all
things in a positive way, people would do something unpleasant to you, and you
Ismene And Antigone Essay
The ancient Greek world does not look favorably on women. Women are seen as docile,
unintelligent, and domestic. Placed socially below men, they are locked into tending to household
duties and to their children, and can not go out without a man. Women are not expected to be
educated or participate in political discussion, with the exception of knowing just enough to be able
to be entertaining at a dinner party and not embarrass her husband. Lacking in political and social
rights, women do not have many chances to hold a political or social lime light, and are expected to
stay in the background while the men took the forefront. However, there are a handful of texts in
Greek literature that showcase the opposite, and put female lead... Show more content on

I have no strength for that (page 63, line 93) and after expressing her disapproval in Antigone s
actions, says, you re so rash I m so afraid for you! (page 63, line 96). In contrast, her sister argues
with her, telling her, you have your excuses. I am on my way (page 93, line 94). This quote
demonstrates how she believes that she should not conform to a submissive role but rather go
against the accepted norm and live her own morals out. Antigone later goes on to fight with
Creon, saying, your moralizing repels me, every word you say (page 84, lines 557 558), and [I
am] not ashamed for a moment (page 84, line 573). Antigone unapologetically goes against the
law, and therefore the male figures in charge, by breaking a state wide decree and burying her
brother. While Ismene represents how women are supposed to act in this society, Antigone acts
directly against these standards. In Medea, the foil characters are Glauce and Medea. Glauce is
Jason s new wife and daughter of King Creon, making her a princess. She is obedient and used by
Jason as an object of sexual desire without protest. In fact, she has no lines in the play, symbolic of
her subservient and silent nature. On the other hand, Medea is loud and antagonistic. She clearly
states her hatred for the role women are forced into, saying, we women are the most pathetic... we
have to buy a husband (page 12, lines 232 233) and we must rely on just one single soul (our
Sage 50 Accounting Report
Reflection
I have learnt how to use Sage 50; how to recognize and record correct transactions based on source
documents; if HST is required, whether it is HST payable or HST recoverable; using accounting
principles to check each transaction; correcting errors according to general ledger; I can analyze the
difference between balance sheet and income statement.

To begin with, I have learnt how to use Sage 50 to record transactions, and have realized the benefits
and drawbacks of using this software. As we have each transaction sheet, we have to recognize the
debits and credit account first, and record the corresponding amount into each account. Then we
record the source of the transaction, date of the transaction and explain each of the entry. ... Show

After I have record every entry I found that my net income is off 40350 dollars. It really freaked
me out. Then I checked the general ledger, I found after I borrowed $40000 from bank, it became
credit balance. I realized that I must have put the debit 40000 in to the wrong account. Thus, I
checked, and it was the exact same error as I have thought. Secondly, there was still $350 less than
expected. I firstly checked whether I have put the amount into the wrong side or have I missed $350.
Eventually, I found it was not simply just putting into the wrong column, but I have selected the
false account. I chose to debit equipment account instead of the expense account. Thus, after
adjusting these 2 entries, the figures reached the expected
Limits On What Information Can Be Obtained
B.Limits on What Information can be Obtained The main barrier to what social media
information can be obtained by discovery is whether the information is relevant. It should first be
noted that this largely only applies to the third method of using discovery to obtain social media
as the other two will allow you to obtain a broader amount of information. Normally if the
information you request directly relates to the matter at hand, the court will determine the
information is relevant. Id. In contrast, if the request is broad and does not specifically cite a
connection to the matter at hand, the court will often determine the information is not relevant
and that discovery should not be allowed. Id. As an example in Mailhoit v. Home Depot U.S.A.,
Inc., the plaintiff brought a claim against her former employer Home Depot for emotional
distress. 285 F.R.D. 566, 572 (C.D. Cal. 2012). The Defendants requested any social media
communications between her and Home Depot employees and any reference on social media to
Home Depot or the subject matter of the lawsuit. Id. The Court determined this was a valid
request because it was not burdensome, it was practical, and it was reasonable calculated to lead
to the discovery of admissible evidence. Id. Request that relate directly to the matter are likely to be
granted, but as requests become more generalized or less connected, you risk the court denying
discovery. Some courts do impose additional hurdles to overcome in order to get
Analysis Of The Dance Field By Frank Lloyd Wright
On May 11, 1894 in Allegany City, Pennsylvania soon to be Pittsburg, Pennsylvania a legend was
born. Little did Jane and George Graham know that their last name would have worldwide
recognition thanks to their daughter, Martha. Martha Graham s work in the dance field has been
compared to Picasso s work in visual arts, Frank Lloyd Wright s work in architecture, and the
influence of Stravinsky on music. The Graham family moved to California in the 1910 s, and when
Graham was 17, she went to see her first ever danceperformance. She saw Ruth St. Denis, a modern
dancepioneer, perform in Los Angeles. Graham was so inspired that she begged her parents to allow
her to study dance. Being strong Presbyterians, her parents didn t exactly support the idea. Despite
what her parents thought, Graham enrolled herself in an arts oriented junior college. After her father
died, she started attending the new Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by St.
Denis and her husband, Ted Shawn. What Graham learned there would fundamentally shape her
dancing style moving forward. Pretty soon Graham s technique was strong enough to start working
professionally as a dancer. Her passionate, emotional performance style gained her the attention of
the nation. As the years progressed, Graham transitioned from performer to choreographer. The life
of a dancer isn t always well funded, so when Graham was offered teaching opportunities in New
York City, she took them. In 1926, at age
Past, Present and Future of Probation Parole
In order to study the past, present and future implications of the probation and parole system, I had
to study the history of both. I will begin with the history of probation and then talk about the history
of parole. I will also talk about how probation and parole work in the present and how and what will
happen to both probationand parolein the future.

Probation comes from the Latin verb probare which means to prove, to rest.

Probation was first introduced to the United States in 1841 when a boot maker by the name of John
Augustus attended court to bail out a drunkard. This offender was released to the custody of Mr.
Augustus making him the first true probation officer, the offender was told to return to court in three

He put this practice to work in 1876, after his appointment as superintendent of a youth reformatory.

Once youth were admitted to the reformatory, they were placed into a classification. This
classification was termed second grade . In order to get to first grade an inmate had to have six
months of good behavior If the inmate misbehaved they were sent to third grade , from this grade
the inmate would have to work his way back up. Once an inmate maintained good behavior at the
first grade level, they were released. However, this release did not get them out of the system. Now
the inmate had to report to a jurisdiction of authorities for six months. The report was done on the
first day of the month. This report was made to a volunteer guardian, this is where parole officers
came from. Reporting to the parole officer, the parolee had to provide accountings of his situation
and conduct.

The first state to adopt a parole system was New York in 1907. By 1927, there only three states that
had not instituted a parole system, they were Florida, Mississippi, and Virginia. By 1942 all of the
states, and the federal government had instituted such systems as were introduced by Maconochie,
Crofton and Brockway.

Today the use of probation is the most common form of sentencing in the criminal justice system.
The probationer is placed under the supervision and care of probation staff. As long as the
probationer maintains certain
Comparision Of Gender Differences Between Judaism And Women
Under both Buddhism and Judaism, women are viewed as sexual temptresses. Both segregate
genders in religious settings, both regard women as the main form of temptation away from
enlightenment and, in both cases, these prejudices can be traced to the formation of the religions
Under Buddhism, celibacy is the encouraged life choice, with women seen as a temptation away
from this. As a result, the Buddha Gautama encouraged women, particularly in religious settings, to
actively downplay their beauty, following the example of Khema who reached enlightenment only
by acknowledging the transient nature of physical beauty. Even today, Buddhist nuns shave their
heads, wear androgynous clothing and no makeup or adornments. Both nuns and monks are

Forensic Anthropology Essay
The field of Forensic Science has journeyed a long way. Its earliest recordings were said to be in the
700s, where the Chinese utilized fingerprints to identify documents and clay sculptures. Forensic
Anthropology is one of the many fields that fall under the umbrella of Forensic Science. Forensic
Anthropologyis the study of human origins, physical, behavior, social, and cultural development.
(Crime Laboratory System) This paper will focus primarily on the integral role Forensic
Anthropology plays in the identification of human skeletal remains. Forensic anthropologists are
called upon for various reasons, such as aiding in the collection and analysis of human remains, and
indentifying victims who are beyond recognition. This paper... Show more content on

The article published by the Forensic Science Central in the United Kingdom (2012), identified the
various features of the human skeleton that can aid in determining the sex of the individual.
Some of the features includes, but are not limited to, the pelvic bone, which is wider in female
than males, and the skull, which has various ways to identify the sex. The skull is said to be
equally beneficial to the pelvic bone in establishing an individual s sex. Research shows that the
skull of a male will have a more rounded supraorbital margin (brow ridge), and a bony glabella
(the portion of bone between the eyebrows and nose). The male s mastoid process that sits behind
the ear is larger, and their mandible is more squared than in females. The nasal cavity of a male is
longer and narrower. Oppositely, the female supraorbital margin is much sharper, and her glabella
is much smoother. The female s mastoid process is smaller in size, and the mandible is less
squared. The research also stated that the female nasal cavity will be slighty wider, and pear
shaped. Another factor that may be beneficial in determining the sex of skeletal remains is racial
background. The research highlighted that if the racial background is known, the sex would be
easier to be
Navigation and Pose Estimation Theory
Basic Theory In the previous chapter, we introduce about the indoor positioning system techniques
and the research directions. In this chapter we will describe the basic theory related with the
navigation and pose estimation systems for example, the coordinate system, the dead reckoning
method, the characteristic of Wi Fi radio signal propagation etc. For all of the basic ideas are very
important thing to understanding the configuration of our research as follow;

2.1 The Local Coordinate system The coordinate system was used to defined in local area
environment name is the Cartesian coordinate system refer to [55]. It can be referenced by placing
the origin to the local point consist with 3 reference axis, there are axis is directed to the vertical,
axis is pointed to the north and axis is directed to the east, see in figure 1. Figure 1 The Cartesian
coordinate system.

The plane is the horizontal plane and the vertical plane is defined perpendicular to the ellipsoid such
a coordinate system is also called a local horizontal coordinate system. From figure 1. can be
described, the projection point whose coordinates in global and local coordinate system are and
respectively, one has relation of as follow: (2.1)
Where the is the azimuth angle measure from the north clockwise, is the zenith distance that mean
the angle the vertical and the radian and r is the radian of the in the local system.

Women s Influence On The Early Years Of Jazz
There are many important women who significantly contributed to Jazz and left a legacy of
women artists. In the early years of Jazz, it was considered a male professional and women who
tried to be part of Jazz faced obstacles. This was from male musicians, critics, record producers, club
owners, concerts and also racism. Despite the obstacles, women forced their way to be part of Jazz
and pushed for equality and visibility ( Gender Discrimination, 2014).
Dolly Adams was a pianist and multi instrumentalist in the New Orleans Jazz scene. She was
recognized for her skill on the piano, playing, drums, guitar and trumpet. She was born and raised in
New Orleans Algiers neighborhood. Dolly Adams had the opportunity to play with some of the great
jazz performers of her time such as Louis Armstrong, Joe king Oliver and others (Hobbs, 2013).
Adam faced obstacles for being a woman in male dominated field of Jazz was. Her role as a wife
was also full of obstacles. Adam reportedly got married in 1922, and due to pressure from her
husband left her role as a pianist for over two decades. She returned to Jazz during 1950s and 1960s
( Hobbs, 2013).
Lil Hardin Armstrong, who was also known as Hot Miss Lil was a pianist, composer, arranger and a
bandleader in the 1920 s, before she married Louis Armstrong. Lil and Louis were bands mates in
Oliver s Creole Jazz Band. Early on, she performed in Sugar Johnny s Creole Orchestra, Freddie
Keppard s band and her own band at the Dreamland
