Grocery Fixed Assets
Despite living in a low cost residence, having a reduced grocery budget and only paying for basic
utilities such as electricity and water, expenses can feel overwhelming, especially if your household
has a lower than average income. This essay, however, argues that many people in this situation have
a better economy than they understand.
The first step to wrangling the household economy is to actually sit down and look it over to find
any discrepancies. Ideally, your static expenditures should consist of infrastructural ones such as
transport, phone and internet connection, and essentials like food, hygiene items, rent and utilities.
If the income is greater than the aforementioned expenditures, the rest of the capital should be well
appropriated to avoid wasting it away. The problem with this is that it can be hard to know exactly
what all your money actually goes into, for example habits like smoking cigarettes or eating candy
on a regular basis, which may not appear notably costly per purchase, will accumulate into a greater
cost over time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While they cannot be used for transactions towards your static expenditures. These assets in
themselves can, however, be exchanged for monetary assets that are far more useful in that regard.
For instance, owning an expensive television set, but not being able to watch anything you like on it
due to your work schedule or your economy, is a great reason to just sell the television set that you
obviously do not need. Selling these fixed assets will not only generate more money instantly, but
could also reduce the cost of any maintenance consumed by them over time, such as

Research Paper On Rene Descartes
Descartes
Is our education complete once a degree has been earned? Have we learned all there is to know?
Can we be sure of what we have come to know? Only a completely self assured person might answer
yes to these questions, but for Rene Descartes (1596 1650) the completion of his formal education
left him feeling and thinking he was still ignorant about the certainties of human experience and
existence. This prominent Renaissance philosopher conquered the world of uncertainty in a work
written in the 17th century. Mr. Descartes , Discourse on Method, quelled the skeptics with the
assertion, I think, therefore I am . Most important to Descartes, however, was the method for which
he was able to arrive at this axiom. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

should examine into as many parts as possible. The third stage he set out to organize his thoughts
into the easiest to the most complex, therefore, creating an orderly examination of the objects of
knowledge. Finally, critical reviews of the links in [the] argument furthered his examination of the
entire puzzle. Mr. Descartes methodology was paramount to the period in which it was born.
However, it s important to note that Descartes didn t think we could, as humans, understand all
existence or phenomena. We cannot come to know God s purposes. Mr. Descartes was optimistic of
the fact that all men are capable of rational thought or reasoning. He took to a quiet environment and
contemplated the serious problem for which he wanted to reconcile within himself; ho can man learn
knowledge. Facilitating the process of reason is the element Descartes terms, the natural light of the
mind. He argues that if we are to attain axiomatic truths we must be free of precipitancy and
prejudice , whereby reason, the natural light of the mind, shall guide us to the certainties which
define our existence. Descartes methodology was realized through his Metaphysical Doctrine, which
asserted man and god s existence. In deep mediation the philosopher set out to deny everything
which his senses told him. Descartes
Misconceptions Of Prison System
Seminar planning:
Introduction:
Today, my seminar presentation will be centred on the notion of the ability of prisons systems to
successfully rehabilitate criminals and reform them to the extent that they are able to again be a
functioning member of society, with consideration to all relevant stakeholders including the Church,
victims, prisoners and the community. Common misconceptions of prisons are that they solely serve
to isolate criminals from the population so that they are unable to do them harm. However, in spite
of these perceptions, the primary objective of prisons is not to quarantine criminals but instead to
work with them so as to lead them towards repentance and rebuilding their lives. In this vein, there
are various types ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story the prodigal son strays off into the wrong cause in life through rejecting his father and
taking his share of money to live a life of sin. This is reflective of the prisoners that rejected the
precedents of God through sinning, when they are in jail and finally open themselves back up to
God then the rehabilitating process can begin, as seen in the Prodigal son when he runs out of
money and opens up to the fact that he should go back to his family that was when he left the life
of sin behind and opened himself back up to God (rehabilitated). Upon return to his family he was
accepted by most except his brother who is hesitant as he felt wronged because his brother broke
the rules and he did not. This is related to how society and mainly the victims of crimes may fear
or be anxious of prior offenders however as Christians we need to adopt the notions of love and
acceptance and opportunity for repentance as evidenced by the precedents set by the prodigal son
which is also reflective of the unconditional love of God. The Catholic approach on prison
rehabilitation is reflected through this story because of how the prodigal son became rehabilitated
through opening oneself to repentance; once were lost but now were found (Luke

Young People Join Gangs For Social And Economic Reasons Essay
According to the authors of Gangs, Graffiti, and Violence, they state that young people join street
gangs for social and economic reasons (Leet, 2000). However, one of the main factors young
people join gangs is due to the lack of stability of being raised in an unstable family environment. For
instance, gangmembers raised in a single parent home by their mother, usually in her early thirties,
caring for three or four children at a time, on her own without the presence of a male father figure.
As a result of being a single parent, the mother is forced to work long hours and at times more
than one job just to make ends meet, which results in the children being left unattended without
any adult supervision or the older sibling left babysitting his or her younger siblings. In addition
to the lack of supervision the moment the child gets into trouble with law enforcement officers,
the mother comes to her child s rescue excusing his actions and behavior. This type of behavior
and attitude from the mother encourages the problematic youth to persist in his reckless behavior
because she refuses to punish him in his wrongdoings. Therefore, the child grows up playing the
victim, blaming society for his downfalls and shortcomings instead of taking responsibility for his
or her own actions (Leet, 2000, pp. 10). As stated in Changing Course: Keeping Kids out of Gangs,
affirms that in 2010 45% of high school students and 35% of middle schoolers were either in gangs

Summer Employment Research Paper
My senior year of high school was quickly coming to an end, and I found myself looking for a job
for the summer. College cost go up every year and I knew that if I wanted extra spending money,
I would have to contribute. Summer employment is a great way to earn extra money plus, I am a
person who likes to stay busy, and I realized having a job during break would help accomplish
both. Having played multiple sports in high school, I was always doing something throughout
my day and I knew I couldn t have a job like lifeguarding where you have to sit and watch a pool for
hours. I enjoy always having a task to perform or a job to get done. Now that I knew I wanted to

Criteria For The Labelling Of Smes
on the criteria set by a particular country. The criteria for the categorization of SMEs can be scaled
by looking at the company s turnover sales, some countries look at the number of employees in the
business and there are countries which perceived SMEs based on mixed criteria. In addition, global
organization entities such as European Commissionand World Bank also have their own views on
how to identify SMEs.
The European Commission states that the criterion of the number of staff as the main criterion,
however, introducing a financial criterion is nonetheless a necessary adjunct in order to grasp the
real scale and performance of an enterprise and its position compared to its competitors (European
Commission: 2003, item 4). Figure 1.0 below is an illustration of SMEs definition by the European
Commission.

SMEs are incorporated by The World Bank; Total assets in USD, annual sales in USD and number
of employees. A particular business must met the manpower criteria and at least on financial based
scale in order to be defined as SMEs. Figure 1.1 below shows the categorization made by World

The King In Oedipus The King
In the popular Greek tragedy Oedipus the King, the plot shows how a single bad trait can lead to
the fall of a once great man. The author Sophocles portrays the story of the titular where a hero
rises to fame after solving the city of Thebes great riddle. The solution to the riddle frees Thebes of
its curse from the Sphinx and relieves the city s misery. Although Oedipusis praised and crowned
king for freeing the city, he is not entirely a good man. Oedipus is very arrogant, which causes him
to make several bad decisions. Through the story of Oedipus the King, Sophocles warns readers not
to let arrogance blind them from reality, for it will eventually result in tremendous suffering.
At the beginning of this Greek drama, Oedipus is blind due to his arrogance. For example, when
the city is in shambles and the Chorus marches around the altar praying to the gods, Oedipus
walks in and says to them, You pray to the gods? Let me grant your prayers (245). He believes he
can answer the people of Thebes prayers. Additionally, Oedipus is convinced he has god like
powers because of his role as king and his previous success in solving the Sphinx s riddle. His past
leads him to believe he is always right, which is exactly what happens when he encounters the
prophet. Oedipus says, Blind, / lost in the night, endless night that nursed you! / You can t hurt
me or anyone else who sees the light / you can never touch me (425 28). Oedipus attacks the
prophet with insults for saying that he was the one that killed Laius. Again, Oedipus reveals his
exaggerated sense of his own abilities and believes that it is impossible for him to be wrong.
Oedipus considers himself to be one of the fortunate who are able to see the light (427) and cannot
be steered in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, in King Oedipus case, his high ego leads to his
great demise.
As this drama progresses, Oedipus begins connecting the dots and restoring his vision. When
Jocasta explains how her husband died to Oedipus, he says, I have a terrible fear the blind seer can
see (823). Oedipus is now suspecting that the prophecy is true because of the similarities between
Laius death and the man he had killed. He begins to stop worrying about his ego and

The Film Osama Directed By Siddiq Barmak
The film Osama directed by Siddiq Barmak is a very beautiful and poignant film, but very
heartbreaking and emotional. Before watching the movie, I knew very little about the Taliban s and
the film director, this film push me to research the Taliban and Siddiq Barmak. I want to know why
and how this film came to be. The film gave me a meticulous insight into the lives of girls and
women in Afghanistan; living under the ruling of the Taliban. I was unaware of the extent of gender
discrimination occurring in Afghanistan during this time. The Taliban s were the main force of
power for many years, destroying and installing fear and pain to many.
The Taliban s are Student s of Islamic Knowledge Movement who ruled Afghanistan from 1996
2001; they came to power after a long Civil war with the Soviet forces. They held 90% of the
country and followed a policy that included the treatment of women and terrorist activities. Their
power came to end after September 11, 2001 (opendemocray). The movie allows us to experience
another culture; women had no rights to work or leave their home alone. At the very beginning of
the movie hundreds of woman, protest their freedom, for their rights to work. It was interesting to
see women willing to sacrifice their lives in order to have equality; they were fearless, despite
knowing the consequence of death or imprisonment.

Preparing for the Next Century Essay
HARLEY DAVIDSON: Preparing for the Next Century
Harley Davidson (Harley) was founded in 1903 as a small business and became the largest
motorcycle company in the world after 15 years of operations. Moreover, by 1950, Harley Davidson
was the leader in the U.S. Market with over 60% market share. Historically, the key success factor
in Harley Davidson combined two important ingredients: several competitive advantages and
favorable conditions in the motorcycle industry since the industry was almost new and the barriers
to enter or the forces affecting it were weak (see appendix 5.1). After the victory of Walter

Harley started producing the V twin engine which had unique cylinders, design, and allowed owners
to tinker with their engines. With its rough image and high prices, Harley Davidson was just focused
on the wealthy men segment.
However, the splendorous period of Harley Davidson finished in 1970 when the Japanese entered
the U.S. market starting with Honda. Using the Blue Ocean strategy (see appendix 5.5), Honda
and other japanese companies were positioning in the market with a broad Cost Leadership
Strategy (see appendix 5.3 B) trying to focus on an unexploited but potential large market.
Through PESTEL (see apendix 5.4), in a political perspective a lack of government support in
creating barriers to entry and in an economical point of view, fuel high prices and maintenance
costs, contributed to the entrance of the japanese competitors and their inmediately success.
Moreover, the social scope in which the motorcycle was considered a leisure product for rough
men, was displaced by the success of Honda´s campaign: You meet the nicest people on a Honda
and the society started to perceive the motorcycle also as a useful transportation vehicle. This fact

unique technological advances and developed efficient mass production processes that reduced the
