School Dress Code
School dress code is possibly one of the most enforced rules in today s school system. Despite the
issues of drugs, alcohol, or dangerous weapons on campus, the dress code system is clearly the most
important issue in schools today. Who cares about the fighting, the bullying, or the education of
students? A teenage girl s shoulder being shown is obviously much more distracting and dangerous
to the school environment than kids throwing punches left and right.
Everyday girls express themselves in new ways through the way they dress. Pants started as being
ripped once at the knee, then all over the leg, but now they go as far as ripping holes straight
through the back pockets! A girl s pants always send a certain message, such as I don t care ... Show

Because of a teenage boy s lack of control of their sexual impulses, the girls educations are
compromised. Girls whose clothes are seen as distracting to the boys learning environment have
had to go home and change their clothes, or in many cases change their shirt or shorts with
unwashed, smelly, hand me down PE clothes found left in the locker rooms year after year. The
school dress code is said to enforce cleanliness ; making a girl change into a disgusting, pit stained
rag just because it her straps are half an inch smaller than required measures is perfectly
Kusmider V. State Case Study
On the eve of November 15, 1982, defendant Thomas Kusmider was informed by his girlfriend, that
a gentleman named Arthur Villella, had assaulted her sexually. Mr. Kusmider confronted Mr.
Villella at his home which led Kusmider to shoot Mr. Villella in the throat. Paramedics arrived on
scene and were able to intubate Mr. Villella. However, while en route to the hospital Mr. Villella
pulled the tube out of his throat. The victim later died at the hospital.
Several questions were raised by the defendant after his trial, which resulted in him filing an appeal
of his conviction. Although he admitted to shooting Mr. Villella, Kusmider alleged that there was
negligence upon the EMT s for failing to properly restrain Mr. Villella while being transported to the
hospital. During the trial, a pathologist testified that Mr. Villella s death was caused by the gunshot
wound to his throat, however, the wound could have been survivable (Brody Acker, 2010, p.116).
The issue of proximate causation came about during Kusmider v. State (1984). Judge Johnstone
precluded Kusmider from pursuing the issue of proximate cause before the jury as he ruled that
negligent failure to provide approximate medical assistance could not interrupt the proximate
causation (Kusmider v. State, 1984).
According to Carpenter (1932), in order to be guilty of a crime, a person s conduct must cause
harm as prescribed by law. Proximate cause can be defined as the defendant s actions or conduct
was in fact the
Summary Of Portia In The Merchant Of Venice
A few times in the play cross dressing is brung about. The women are banned from performing and
instead their parts are played by young boys. The character Portia in the play stands out as an
independent strong willed women. During the trial scene, Portia disguises herself as a man, along
with the character Nerissa, to help Antonio and to prevent Shylockfrom collecting what is due, a
pound of Antonio s flesh. In the trial scene, Portiaenters the courtroom as a unbiased legal
authority, and is quick about explaining the loopholes in the contract between Antonio and
Shylock. One such loophole is that only a pound of flesh near Antonio s heart may be taken, but
does not allow for his blood to be spilled. During the trial, Portia states, The words expressly are a
pound of flesh. Take then thy bond, take thou thy pound of flesh, But in the cutting it if thou dost
shed One drop of Christian blood, thy lands and goods Are by the laws of Venice confiscate Unto
the state of Venice (Act IV Scene I, 298 303). Portia is describing the contract and explains that if
Antonio s Christian blood is spilled, then Shylock will lose his land and property. During the trial,
Portia s disguise as Balthasar is very convincing, even to her husband. Portia was able to relieve
Antonio of his debt, but only by cross dressing as a man. The time setting in The Merchant of Venice
greatly differs from the equality we have between men and women today. The male characters
greatly over number the

Drug Addicted Babies The use of illicit drugs and abuse of alcohol exact a steep price from our
society. Substance abuse is a factor in many serious ills such as crime. More upsetting, however, is
the affects that it has on children born affected from their dependent mothers. The National Institute
on Drug Abuse estimates that 60 percent of women of childbearing age consume alcoholic beverages
despite the fact that alcohol consumption during pregnancy is implicated in a wide range of birth
defects and developmental disabilities, including mental retardation, physical abnormalities, and
visual and auditory impairments. (Nevitt, 1996) Since most drug users are in the child bearing ...

Because lack of emotional stimulation and feedback can literally turn off the infant production of
growth hormone, these cases are often the most severe. Severe non organic failure to thrive is
potentially fatal. Infant malnutrition develops starvation or overwhelming sepsis. Non organic
failure to thrive is associated with severe maternal depression or other serious mental illness,
maternal substance abuse, or severe sociopathic personality disorder. (Van, 1977) Infants who
were exposed to alcohol and/or drugs may exhibit this disorder, which is characterized by a loss of
weight, or slowing of weight gain, and a failure to reach developmental milestones. This can be due
to medical and/or environmental factors. The infant s behavior includes poor sucking, difficulty in
swallowing, and distractibility. Many of these children live in chronically dysfunctional families,
which place them at greater risk of parental neglect. (Van, 1977) Within seventy two hours after
birth, many infants who were exposed prenatally to drugs experience withdrawal symptoms,
including tremors and irritability. Their skin may be red and dry; they may have a fever, sweating,
diarrhea, excessive vomiting, and even seizures. Such
Barrio Boy Short Story
Barrio Boy, New Directions, and Ready For Marcos What drives people to undertake missions?
For example, Ernesto wanted to learn english, go to school, and not give up so Ernesto came to
America to go to school, learn english, and not give up. Annie Johnson did not give up and Annie
made her own business and without this business Annie would not have money and would not be
able to handle her childrens. Monica had more responsibilities to do because Monica wanted a little
brother. Individuals are driven to undertake missions because for example one of the motivation of
the first story was to learn english and go to school and be successful, another motivation was to
make money to support a family, and the last motivation was that someone wanted a little brother.
The first story I chose out of all the three stories that I chose was Barrio Boy by Ernesto Galarza.
This story relates to my thesis statement because Ernesto wanted to learn english and go to school so
he came to America from Mexicowith his mother. The first thing that Ernesto did to success was
that he emigrated to America from Mexico with his mother. Then, he went to school in America
because he wanted to learn english. For example, the evidence in paragraph three it states up to this
point the adventure of enrolling me in school had been carefully rehearsed . Also, in paragraph
three it says they assured us that there was always a person who could speak spanish . Another,

Design Optimization and Implementation for RF Energy Harvesting Circuits
Prusayon Nintanavongsa, Student Member, IEEE, Ufuk Muncuk, David Richard Lewis, and
Kaushik Roy Chowdhury, Member, IEEE
Abstract A new design for an energy harvesting device is proposed in this paper, which enables
scavenging energy from radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic waves. Compared to common
alternative energy sources like solar and wind, RF harvesting has the least energy density. The
existing state of the art solutions are effective only over narrow frequency ranges, are limited in
efficiency response, and require higher levels of input power. This paper has

However, given the recent advances in energy efficiency for the circuit components of a sensor
(say, diodes that require less forward voltage threshold), and the low power operation modes
supported by the device itself (say, sleep mode consuming only millivolt), there is a visible need for
revisiting energy harvesting circuit design that can successfully operate a sensor node.
Fig. 1 shows the components of our proposed energy harvesting circuit. The incident RF power is
converted into dc power by the voltage multiplier. The matching network, composed of inductive and
capacitive elements, ensures the maximum power delivery from antenna to voltage multiplier.
The energy storage ensures smooth power delivery to the load, and as a reserve for durations when
external energy is unavailable. Such a design needs to be carefully crafted: increasing the number of
multiplier stages gives higher voltage at the load, and yet reduces the current through the final load
branch. This may result in unacceptable charging delays for the energy storage capacitor.
Conversely, fewer stages of the multiplier will ensure

Throughout The Bible, Jesus Is Known For Eating With The
Throughout the bible, Jesus is known for eating with the marginalized people in the society. To save
the sinners Jesus had to have contact with them. Through these meals, Jesus created a connection
with the marginalized groups and spread the word of God. The last supper was the last meal that
Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion. In my essay, I will discuss the painting The
Sacrament of the Last Supperby Salvador Dalí. I will discuss how the painting shows the divinity of
Jesus, displays Jesus, and interprets the last supper.
The Sacrament of the Last Supper by Salvador Dali is a large painting in the National Gallery of
Art. In the painting there a twelve sided, windowpane. The larger windowpane is broken up into ...

The first man has brunette hair and is wearing a white cloak. He taller than the other two men.
The next man s is wearing a yellow cloak. Additionally, just like the second tallest man on the right
of Jesus, a small portion of his neck is visible. The next man, the shortest of the three men, has
white hair and is wearing a white cloak. He is in the same position as the shortest man on the right
side of Jesus. His hands are visible and clasped.
On the right side, the width, of the table there are two men. The first man has brunette hair, is
wearing a white cloak, and has his head bowed. The second mad is also a brunette. He is wearing
a white cloak. On the left side, the width, of the table there are two men. Both men are brunette
and have their heads bowed. On the length of the table, with their backs to the viewer, there are
two men. The two men are sitting with a large space between them. They are both wearing long
white cloaks. On the table between these two men there are two small circular loaves of bread. On
the opposite side of the table, in front of Jesus, there is a cup of red wine.
To properly understand the painting, the viewer must understand what the painting is depicting.
Matthew 26:17 30 describes the last supper Jesus shared with his disciples. The Gospel starts off
with Jesus sitting at the table with his twelve disciples, just like the painting depicts. Jesus tells his
disciples that one man will betray him.

A Feelings For Fiction
The article A Feeling For Fiction explains the relationship exhibited between our lives, and those
existing in the realm of fictional works. The relationship itself is overwhelmingly positive, as
fictional works have the effect of humanizing us, as we empathize ,and identify with the characters
that are present. The article gives examples of this idea through the concepts presented in texts such
as Aristotle s Poetics, and the Hindu Treatise Natyasastra, that are used to emphasise the impact that
fiction exudes on the real world. While the majority of the article makes reference to literature,
fiction in the form of movies plays, an important roles as the article explains a study done regarding
the movies Vertigo and Bladerunner that exemplified
Empathy Between Empathy And Empathy
The dictionary defines empathy as the feeling that you understand and share another person s
experiences and emotions , but personally I believe it is far more complex (Merriam Webster). To
me, empathy is more than the ability to understand another s emotions or experiences, it is the ability
to see beyond yourself and your world without being prompted to. I Those who have the greatest
amount of empathydo not need to be told that there are people in the world that struggle and face
sadness. It is in their nature to know that it is this way and they feel for their fellow being, wanting
to help in some way. Throughout this semester I have come to understand that empathy plays a key
role in defining an individual, a community, and how the two interact with each other. There is a
distinct differences between those individuals that have empathy and those that do not, it shows
clearly in their attitude and actions towards others. It is those individuals that have empathy that
make up strong communities, and empathy is arguably the most important part of a community
because it allows for a sense of understanding and togetherness. How empathic an individual is is
very important as to whether or not they are going to be a positive contributing members of society.
The ability to empathize with others is an important life skill. People who are empathic are better
received by others, they have strong people skills, and they have a better character overall. Empathy
lends itself to
The Pros And Cons Of Operation Iraqi Freedom
Operation Iraqi Freedom saw a new rise in media censorship for embedded journalists, before
departing their country of origin and being embedded with a military unit journalists were required
to undergo joint training and sign contracts vowing not to report information that could compromise
unit position, future missions, classified weapons, and information they might find during their
time in the field. When asked about the purpose of the embedded journalists and these new
restrictions Lt. Col. Rick Long of the U.S. Marine Corps replied Our job is to win the war. Part of
that is information warfare. So we are going to attempt to dominate the information environment.
Journalism from the front was no longer being used as a method of information broadcasting for
concerned families and civilians at home, but to ensure proper reception of the war and shape public
opinion not only in the United States, but the world as a whole.
Information warfare and counter intelligence protocols ordered by the United State s military were
not entirely enacted by U.S. government officials. During the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, the now
defunct British Public Relations firm Bell Pottinger Private was contracted for five hundred and
forty million US dollars to produce false terrorist videos and news update type videos targeting Al
Qaida. This contract also targeted Arab news outlets and produced pro US coalition propaganda.
Furthermore, Bell Pottinger Private used search engine optimization

The podcast made me look too similar programs going on here in Los Angeles County; which

these good thing does not mean I don t think there cannot be improvements to the program. I would
like to see them provide statistics on the program long term outcomes. Short term the program
seems to work, but I want to see if this module is sustainable. The podcast outlines the importance of
good connections with the judicial system. When creating those relationships, it allows case workers
to advocate for a client involved in minor cases by providing outside help. Providing those services
of mental health rather than imprisoning them could help depopulated jails. These measures help
save state and local governments thousands of dollars but also make their community safer. CASES
if successful can reduce crime once their clients finish treatment. They take mental health
evaluations serious when providing case management. As a social worker, I could build on the
what CASES mental health assessments. Mr. Jacobs discussed how assessments can identify those
at risk to be rearrested while in the program. In the identification of those individuals, different
resources can be given to keep them from committing a criminal offense. I know what works with
New York may not work for Los Angeles, but we can take those same principles to fit geographical
