Stereotypical Portrayal Of Homosexuals And The Homophobia...
Nussbaum also believes that the stereotypical portrayal of homosexuals and the homophobia
towards homosexuals is created by a disgust and that disgust is is what makes minority groups look
inferior to majority groups. Nussbaum believes that projective disgust plays no proper role in
arguing for legal regulation, because of the emotion s irrationality and its connection to stigma and
hierarchy...Disgust, however, often prevents us from looking for those good reasons, creating the
misleading impression that the policy has already been well defended. Turning it to legitimize
polices (Nussbaum, 20). Due to the politics of disgust, Nussbaum believes that homosexual couples
should be given suspect classification unlike the Lawrence v. Texas... Show more content on

Nussbaum nicely puts it that religion and sexual identity should be a way for people to express
themselves because we may think other people [are] wrong and sinful in matters of the deepest
moral importance while yet agreeing that respect for them as an equal citizens requires according
them a broad sphere of liberty of both thought and conduct (Nussbaum, 41). Nussbaum explains
through cases of race, gender, and disabilities why these are analogous to the case of sexual
orientation. She makes this statement because she believes that law prohibiting same sex marriage
...are similar to laws against interracial marriage...[since] people are being classified by a trait, and
then being denied fundamental opportunities in a wide range of areas because of that trait
(Nussbaum, 44). With disabilities, while the courts have not agreed that injustices towards thee
people is an issue on suspect classification, the courts do agree that laws are name by the majority
due to disgust or dislike would go against their equal protection (Nussbaum,46 47). The similarities
Nussbaum finds between other special groups in the United States makes her argument for why
sexuality should be treated the same way as these groups in cases like Lawrence and Griswold. If

Essay about Aurora Leigh
Aurora Leigh The story Aurora Leigh is the story of a fictional woman poet. This story was
Elizabeth Barret Browning s greatest achievement. This was the first major poem in English
Literature in which the heroine, just like the author was a woman writer. This story had a lot to do
with Aurora as a rising poet in a society that did not except woman as artists. Society set a restriction
on women because of the role that was put upon them. Society basically sets the women into an
imprisonment.

Aurora Leigh tells the story of the development of a woman poet largely as the story of her struggle
to understand how her life and art can accommodate love. Aurora Leigh envies male poets because

Romney wants Aurora to become a basic housewife. He wants her around the house doing chores
and other acts women do to please and satisfy their men during those times. She realizes this and has
to make the decision of no.

She wants the experiences of life without a man. A good portion of the rest of the poem is devoted
to showing Aurora s accomplishments. It also shows the price that love paid in her
accomplishments. Her health and looks decline very rapidly compared to Romney and releases that
her accomplishments have meant nothing without love. She knew that she loved him but had to
deal with her dreams first. And without her dreams her love would have meant nothing.

One of the greatest concerns in the theory about feminism is the role that women play in
relationships and also the identity that is placed upon them as a lover and as an artist. Many
females during the time that Elizabeth Browning wrote Aurora Leigh felt discomfort by becoming
an artist or anything besides a housewife. As mentioned before this was a stepping stone for
women in this time period. Society put women into separate social classes. And on top of the
classes they were categorized in they had the class of being a woman also. With this passage from
Aurora Leigh Browning describes and criticizes the works of the woman during this time period.

The Message of Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool
The Message of Gwendolyn Brooks We Real Cool

We Real Cool is a short, yet powerful poem by Gwendolyn Brooks that sends a life learning
message to its reader. The message Brooks is trying to send is that dropping out of school and
roaming the streets is in fact not cool but in actuality a dead end street.

Brooks conveys her message in an ironic manner, which is presented in the title of the poem.
Before actually reading the 10 line poem the first thing that grabs the reader s attention is the title.
After reading the title We Real Cool one would assume that the intent of the poem is going to be
about a group of people who are fortunate and live a flamboyant lifestyle. This is not the case for the
seven players in Brooks s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The language used coincides with the player s lack of education. This is evident in the poem
when we are told they left school. We later learn that instead of attending school the players go to
a pool hall. The name of the pool hall, Golden Shovel contributes to the theme of the poem. The
golden shovel has a deeper meaning and serves as a symbol. The so called Golden lifestyle of the
players will eventually cost them their lives. In return they will eventually be [ shoveled ] in their
grave. Several of the lines in Brooks s poem begin with words that start with the same consonant
letter; this is an example of alliteration. The [l] sound in lurk late, the [str] sound in strike straight,
and the [j] sound in jazz June. The alliteration used allows the poem to flow smoothly.

Brooks makes great use of rhyme throughout the poem. She uses words such as cool , school , sin
, and gin. These are external rhymes which appear at the end of lines. The rhyme scheme used
compliments the theme, since it is the directed towards a young audience. The reason we know
that Brooks is trying to attract a young crowd is because she is talking about youth who are
suppose to be attending school. The poem is given an up tempo beat, almost like a rap. This rap like
sound may also help attract young readers.

This poem describes the lifestyle of young rebels. They are cool having left school , and die soon.

Judah
Jacob was aware his life was coming to an end. Thankfully, the last seventeen years were spent
with his twelve sons and their families all together again, settled in the land of Egypt, in the
region of Goshen (Gen 47:27 28). He calls for his sons to come receive their blessings, and he
predicts the future for the twelve tribes that will be established through them. These prophecies
give way to the imminent manifestations throughout history of the twelve tribes of Israel. Jacob,
also known as Israel, gives Judah a special blessing and prophecy for his seed , especially

The kingship will remain with Judah, until the Messianic promise made to Abraham is finally
known in Jesus Christ (Gal 3:16).12 The concluding section of verse ten refers to the obedience
of the people. The broader view of this text would be the tribunal obedience of Israel to the royal
family. However, since Christ has come to earth and made known His rightful position, only those
who chose to submit to Him will be obedient (John 15:1 8). Yet, when He returns for the final time
in His glory, at that point, all will display humble obedience towards Him (Dan 7:27).13 Verse 11
The context of verse eleven discloses the fact that there will be great financial prosperity and
abundance during the reign of the Messiah. It is made evident by tethering the donkey to productive
vines allowing them to graze on it without worry what damage it might cause the harvest. Also, the
plentiful amount of wine being present to wash clothes, in place of water. This illustration describes
the coming of the millennial kingdom (Isa 65:21 25).14 Also, the tribe of Judah, largest among the

Have you ever had a song on constant repeat? Where the lyrics just soothe your soul and you want

If you would consider listening to country music I would highly recommend listening to the
songwriter Kenny Chesney (2018) Get Along . This song helps to encourage others to look past their
differences and to respect one another because life is too short.
This song is worth your three minutes and twenty nine seconds of your time to listen too. The

Whether it s between your body weight, your personal wardrobe, or simply your smile everyone
has something to judge about you. Life is way too short to be judging others on their appearance or
how they live their life.
In addition, the following lyric that I m sure everyone can agree on that their Scared to live,
scared to die Chesney (2018). No one knows entirely how to live life we don t have a manual or a
tour guide to follow. We must trust our instincts and pray to make the best decisions. Everyday is
a new beginning and we must cherish every moment we have. Although we can t be too afraid to
live life. We must treat it as if everyday we live could be our last.
Also, death is a horrifying topic. Many people avoid talking about death because of how
unbearable it is. Everyone is scared to die at one point in their life. Thinking about losing someone
you love is truly horrific. That s why this song truly soothes the soul because everyone should just
all get along while they
Wife Of Bath Reflection
The Wife of Bath begins the Prologue to her tale by establishing herself as an authority on
marriage, due to her extensive personal experience with the institution. Since her first marriage at
the tender age of twelve, she has had five husbands. She says that many people have criticized her
for her numerous marriages, most of them on the basis that Christ went only once to a wedding, at
Cana in Galilee. The Wife of Bath has her own views of Scripture and God s plan. She says that
men can only guess and interpret what Jesus meant when he told a Samaritan womanthat her fifth
husbandwas not her husband. With or without this bit of Scripture, no man has ever been able to
give her an exact reply when she asks to know how many husbands a woman may have in her
lifetime. God bade us to wax fruitful and multiply, she says, and that is the text that she
wholeheartedly endorses. After all, great Old Testament figures, like Abraham, Jacob, and Solomon,
enjoyed multiple wives at once. She admits that many great Fathers of the Church have proclaimed
the importance of virginity, such as the Apostle Paul. But, she reasons, even if virginity is
important, someone must be procreating so that virgins can be created. Leave virginity to the
perfect, she says, and let the rest of us use our gifts as best we may and her gift, doubtless, is her
sexual power. She uses this power as an instrument to control her husbands.

At this point, the Pardoner interrupts. He is planning to marry soon and

Gentlemen Of Simla Research Paper
Gentlemen of Simla,
Here lies a statement of my beliefs that I spoke about, during my time at the podium at Simla. I
represent the interests of the nearly six million Sikhs of India and explain how the Sikhs have
created our own unique religion, how we have continued to defend ourselves from invaders and
oppressors, how we have transformed our region into flourishing farmland, and that we therefore
deserve to own our homeland of the Punjab (Role Sheet).
Sikhism preaches a message of devotion and remembrance of God. Most distinctively, it preaches the
equality of mankind. Although it is compared to Hinduism and Islam, Sikhism denounces rituals that
are blind. This includes fasting, visiting places of pilgrimage, and any superstition (Sikhism, Religion
of Sikh People). Sikhism preaches that people of all kind start as equals in the eyes of God.
While Sikhism is often considered a fusion of Hindu and Muslim ideals, it is important to
understand that this blend is complex. As stated in the Guru Granth Sahib, I do not make
pilgrimages to Mecca, nor do I worship at Hindu sacred shrines. I serve the One Lord, and not any
other. I do not perform Hindu worship, nor do I practice the Muslim prayers. I have taken the One

The Roles Of The Role Of Sita In Ramayana
Abstract:
Sita is the only woman who captures the attention of readers and audience in the Indian epic poem
Ramayana. Sita has been interpreted several times for the way her life had been. She is born of the
earth and gets consumed by the earth. Sita s biological parents are not known. But the mother of Sita
is a God. While living the life of a human, this God incarnate figure of Goddess Lakshmi is the
foster daughter of King Janaka who takes care of her and brings her up with all the love and care
but then finally offers her in marriage after the swayamvara. Looking closely at this, we find that
Sita even though without biological inheritance could not be outside the patriarchal realm where the
daughter would be offered to a man in marriage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goddess incarnate fails to project her potentiality as a Goddess. She stays back within the
lakshmanrekha, further making it evident that incarnation has no significance and the earthly
woman is in need of protection. This frail act of Sita at that moment nullifies the power of goddess
incarnate and emphasizes only on the earthly frail nature of women or the weaker sex is highlighted.
Sita fails.
Sita gets deeper and deeper into the circles of patriarchy. The lakshmanrekha, the supreme metaphor
for women s restricted movement.
According to the diasporic perspective the mythological figure of Sita projects an ambivalent
function of a subservient wife and a powerful symbol emanating resistance to maintain her
obedience till the end. (Vogt William, 2014). Sita instructs Lakshman in the beginning to go and
protect her husband as depicted in the poem and then when Lakshman does not abide by her, she is
seen as a transfigured human entity of a woman rather than an ethereal entity of supernatural
attributes has been worshipped for ages by the people as a goddess.
