Analysis Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
Voluptuous Vampire or Proper Prude
Written and set in the late 19th century, Bram Stoker s epistolary novel Dracula is a pivotal book
in gothic/horror literature. Like most novels written by men, Dracula appeals more to the male
audience and their fantasies and fears about women than to the Victorian Age woman. In the novel,
Lucy and Mina are the only two female characters the reader meets in detail, and they are also the
only two characters that are seen becoming vampires indeed, they are the only major vampire
characters, with the exception of the chief antagonist, who are described in detail within the novel.
Therefore it is clear that these two play a very important role in representing females in the novel.
Both characters are also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen when Van Helsing comments about Mina, She is one of God s women, fashioned
by His own hand to show us men and other women that there is a heaven where we can enter, and
that its light can be here on earth. So true, so sweet, so noble, so little an egoist and that, let me tell
you, is much in this age... ( 197 ). The fact that Stoker has chosen to include such an important
contrast between the two major characters so early in the novel suggests that it will play an
important part in the narrative. The reader later learns that this difference is essential to the plot, as
it is only Mina s purity and innocence that allows the group to defeat Dracula at the end of the novel,
and ultimately saves Mina from Lucy s fate. Lucy s part in the novel may be relatively short, yet
her role is essential to the audience s understanding of the novel s message about female roles and
female sexuality in Victorian society since she is the first victim of Count Dracula. At the same time,
Lucy is the only character whose transformation into a vampire Stoker describes in detail:
At times she slept, and both Van Helsing and I noticed the difference in her, between sleeping and
waking. Whilst asleep she looked stronger, although more haggard and her breathing was softer; her
open mouth showed the pale
The Purisima Formation
The Purisima Formation is extensively allocated in central California from coastal exposures at
Point Reyes in Marin County to more extensive exposures in the Santa Cruz Mountains from the
coast in San Mateo and Santa Cruz Counties inland to the San Andreas Fault. These scattered
visible rock formations are part of the Purisima Formation because they all share a few specific
characteristics: They all have interbedded mudstone, siltstones, and very fine grained sandstones,
with abundant shell debris. The Purisima formation was created about 3 to 7 million years ago
during the late Miocene and the Pliocene through a 4 million year period of deposition: The
deposited rocks record a shift from deeper offshore conditions (primarily siltstone

Good evening Mr. Brown your test results came in and we found out that your Triglycerides are

means there are less than 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) which you do have which is great. A
desirable level of cholesterol would be Below 200 mg/dL, and borderline high would be 200 239 mg

They are many treatments for treating high cholesterol. Many people, making changes to their
lifestyle doing activities such as eating better, losing weight, and exercising will be enough to
lower cholesterol meanwhile others may benefit from medicines. They re not much side effects
from medications used to treat high cholesterol. Statins are the number one drug used to treat high
cholesterol. Statins can lower the risk of heart attack or stroke. Other medications can improve
cholesterol levels, but they have not been proven to lower the risk of a heart attack or a stroke.
Statin side effects can be uncomfortable, making it seem like the risks outweigh the benefits of
these powerful cholesterol lowering medications. (Mayo Clinic Staff) Side effects of statin is
muscle pain and damage, liver damage, digestive problems, rash or flushing, increased blood sugar
or type 2 diabetes, and neurological side effects.

Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation ( Osic ) Is...
Abstract In this paper, ordered successive interference cancellation (OSIC) is adopted with minimum
mean square error (MMSE) detection to enhance the multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system
performance. The optimum detection technique increases the system complexity with improved
error rate performance. Therefore, MMSE OSIC detection is used which gives reduced error rate
compared to traditional MMSE with a considerable level of complexity. The system performance is
analyzed in a composite fadingenvironment which deals with multipath and shadowing, known as
Weibull gamma (WG) fading environment. Along with the composite fading, a composite noise i.e.
additive white generalized Gaussian noise (AWGGN) model is taken into account to form various
noise scenarios such as impulsive, Gamma, Laplacian, Gaussian and uniform noise. Consequently,
generalized Q function is used to develop such noise scenario. The average symbol error probability
(ASEP) of MIMOsystem is computed for 16 quadrature amplitude modulation(16 QAM) using
MMSE OSIC detection in WG fading with AWGGN. Analytical expressions are evaluated in terms
of Fox H function (FHF). These expressions demonstrate the best fit to simulation results.
Keywords MIMO, MMSE OSIC, WG fading, AWGGN, M QAM, ASEP.
1.Introduction
In MIMO systems, spatial multiplexing is used for high data rate transmission and spatial diversity
is used to achieve reliable communication. However, there is a tradeoff between diversity and
Foil Characters In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry features a set of characters that are not only complex in
every way, but also vastly important to bringing out the intricacies of the play. One example of this
is the contrast of George Murchison and Joseph Asagai. These two foil characters have similar roles
in the plot; they are both non white men of around the same age with the same amount of education.
The two men also play a role in the life of Beneatha Younger as possible love interests. However,
despite their similarities, their most important aspects are what set them apart from one another and
highlight the most profound themes of the play. George Murchison is an American of African
descent from a fairly wealthy family. The epitome of class,
The Survival Horror Genre
The Survival Horror Genre
Out of all the genres in the video game industry, survival horror is an oddball in itself; and one
near and dear to my heart. It places emphasis on resource management and careful planning instead
of going gung ho in a series of combat arenas. It encourages you to flee normal enemies instead of
fighting them because of a deliberately gimped control scheme and since the beasties you fought
are nastier and more aggressive than you... you get the idea. But of importance is how effortless it
is at building tension and scaring you until you re stiff as a statue. In an age of gaming that
emphasized shooting and beating up everything in the room until all the enemies are dead, Survival
Horror served and still serves as the
Definitions Of A Novice And Expert Responses Essay
Throughout the paper, we will compare a novice and expert responses to certain mathematical
concepts in order to recognize the different techniques they practice. We will interpret the procedures
they use to make connections and to check their level of comprehension on a specific mathematical
concept. An expert typically has a broad interpretation and connects their ideas to more concepts, in
this case introducing graphs, definitions, formulas and physics whereas the novice will have useful
knowledge about the subject without making as many connections. The expert is Mr. Thilina
Shihan, a doctoral student in Physics with a Masters and Bachelors in Math and Science whereas the
novice, Guillermo Vasquez is a Computer Science and Physics Major. In the clinical interview, if
mathematical concepts are introduced by gradually increasing the difficulty of the questions, then
the comprehension level between a novice and an expert will be significantly visible when
comparing their responses. Both interviewees made different connections of the usage of
differentiation within the mathematics and science world. According to Vasquez, the definition of
mathematics is the manipulation of meaningless symbols according to some rules, whereas Shihan
considers math to be the science of numbers (2016). This leads us to our next question, connecting
math to other concepts Vasquez says that math is the base for all other sciences like physics,
chemistry biology, and general (2016). Shihan

Colour can be defined as the result of light hitting an object and its resulting perception based on the
physics of sight or the eye. Artist have been theorising and implementing colour and colour
relationships for many years, and through many artist/art movements. Successful use and
understanding of colour can elevate a particular piece of art far beyond any that do not successfully
implement colour and its various elements. For this essay I will explore the paintingWo ist Ein
Zigarrengeschäft (1954) by Jean Phillipe Dallaire(Fig 1 3). In this exploration I will examine
aspects of this painting which include Dallaire s use of form, and colour. While also considering
briefly Dallaire s painting in in comparison to Jean Dubuffet s, painting The Dandy (1954)(Fig 4).
Both paintings originate from the same era with two artist interpretations of colour and form, and
two sets of techniques. Before considering the painting itself I will examine the artist himself, as
this will help in understanding his painting, Wo ist Ein Zigarrengeschäft (1954). Jean Dallaire
(1916 1965), is a Canadian artist who was known for his work as a painter, illustrator, and
professor. His work is considered as expressive with the use of festive images, shapes, colour and
form, where the real and the imaginary come together in a visual experience (Cheff, 2008). Jean
attended art classes in both Canada and the united states, but his practice was built on mainly self
teaching.
What Is The Purpose Of An Observation Of A Child
Purpose: The purpose of this observation is to identify the child s gross motor skills within the
physical domain. Child H may increase levels of activity and endurance by freely exploring large
outdoor equipment (Best Start Expert Panel on Early Learning, 2007, 5.1, p. 58).
Context: In KOLTS preschool playground there were thirteen children, three female ECE s and three
female parents. Before we headed out of KOLTS, most of the children were dressed comfortably
and according to the weather. All six children wore long boots, hat, gloves and a jacket and were
dressed warmly. Around, 4:15pm one ECE and six children headed out of KOLTS, while the other
ECE was cleaning up and busy monitoring five children indoor. When all six children were outside,

position, but she was shouting that she wanted a bike repetitively. When she received her bike
she was eager to ride it, and she took the tricycle and placed it on the floor. She stood beside the
tricycle holding both handles and raised her left leg and placed her left foot on the left pedal and
took a seat. While she was sitting on the seat she raised her right leg and placed her right foot on
the pedal and started to pedal along with the other children. As she was pedaling along, she
decided to have a short break and sat there on her tricycle for three minutes. When I was on the
other side of the playground I was observing all the other children but then I realized that child H

her and I was like H why did you stop, are you tired . She responded saying, No! I m not tired... I m

Comparing Tristan And Isolde Vs. Lancelot And Guinevere
Love can be a person s greatest gift or curse that will bring them to their demise. It infects their mind,
controls their actions and consumes their thoughts with the singular obsession of being around their
love. In the love stories, Tristan and Isolde and Lancelot and Guinevere, the characters face problems
of the soul, and that bring about monumental repercussions to everyone around them. In both of
these works, the characters experience loving someone out of reach. Their loveis taboo; it will never
be accepted because of their circumstances. This causes a rift in their stream of normality and
forces actions to be made. Love triangles emerge since the characters are trying to find a way to
achieve their goals but still keep what they have. In both of the stories, Tristan and Isolde love each
other similarly to Lancelotand Guinevere. All they can think about is each other. (insert quote).
Lancelot went behind his king s back to be with Guinevere just like Tristan. Both of them knew that
each of their kings was with the woman they love, but both realized that no matter what they did
their relationship would be forever confined to the shackles of secrecy, darting glances of affection
and sporadic moments of privacy. The relationship between the enamored men and their kings is
different. Tristan was the stepson of the king, and it hurt him, even more, to see his beloved with his
father. While on the other hand, Lancelot s situation was a little different.

Gun Reforms
Current Event
In today s news there are many situations that occur containing bias information and opinions.
Situations are often reported by the news in a negative or positive manner either to make a certain
situation seem awful or make a situation seem exceptional. Most people do not realize how the
news manipulates many situations to favor someone or something. Recently a shooting happened
in San Bernardino killing 14 people. FBI are investigating if the event was just a random act of
violence or if the attack came from a terrorist group called Isis. Isis is a terrorist group involved in
many attacks on the United States. Isis has already attacked other countries as well, like France and
Belgium. The San Bernardino shooting happened on December ... Show more content on

in America. Hillary Clinton seem to want to push for more gun reforms as she stated common

Beethoven, a very well known composer and musician. He was baptized on the 17th of december
1770. No one really knows when he was born but it is assumed because of when he was baptized it
was on the 16th of December. He came from a musical family, his father was a court tenor. His
mother found that he was a different child and found it hard to relate to him. His father on the
other hand knew he had very full potential for being a great musician. His father was rather harsh
though keeping Beethoven practicing all the time, he would beat him across the head if he didn t.
He never liked reading music he would rather improvise. This would upset his father and he would
say stop that you need to stick to the notes
The Essential Role Of Foreign Policy In The United States
Foreign Policy is the way a country goes about handling other countries in a variety of ways. This
includes war efforts, foreign aid, and diplomatic policies. Foreign policy in a sense represents a
countries wants and needs and uses strategies to achieve these goals with other countries. The power
of foreign policyis split up between the Executive Branches and Congress. Although the President is
the dominant force in foreign policymaking congress does play key roles into the finalizing of
foreign policy tools and even can manipulate laws which can change foreign policy in return. The
process of foreign policy include first having a foreign issue arise, having policies debated and
made, government deciding to adopt one policy, the policy gets... Show more content on

Although many are against military force each situation is unique in that there is no single set of
fixed rules on when and when not military force should be used however it is up to the president
to decide when the action is best to take place. A professor of Standford University has his
philosophy of when military force is made , when the stakes warrant, where and when force can
be effective, where no other policies are likely to be effective, where its application can be
limited in scope and time, and where the potential benefits justify the potential costs and sacrifice
(George 1) . When all other tools are used such as diplomacy efforts which include negotiations
and foreign aid efforts the last result is to go about it with none other than military force. Our
strategy here in America is to always work hard for peace and I believe the president does his job
at that. However, the president is aware of attacks on us and it always ready for war if it be
necessary. The most famous example of military force is the American attack on Japan when two
atomic bombs were dropped on the small island. The bombing of Hiroshima happened in March of
1945 where more than 10,000 citizens of Japan had died. President Harry Truman at that time had
demanded the five ton atomic bomb be dropped to speed up the ending of the war. It worked
because soon after the Japanese
