The Problems Faced By Sarbanes Oxley
The second problem is public companies have always had to put up with more regulations than
private ones because they encourage ordinary people to risk their capital. After the 2007 2008
financial crisis the regulatory burden has become heavier. America has introduced new rules,
from the 2002 Sarbanes Oxley legislation on accounting to the Dodd Frank financial regulations
of 2010. Sarbanes Oxley increased the annual cost of complying with securities law from $1.1
million per company to roughly $2.8 million. The third problem is growing short termism. The
capital markets have increased their power dramatically with the rise of huge institutional
investors and intensification of shareholder activism. Mutual funds count their money in trillions
rather than billions. Hedge funds are not afraid to take on corporate Goliaths such as McDonald s
and Time Warner if they think they are failing. The average life expectancy of public companies
shrank from 65 years in the 1920s to less than ten in the 1990s. The life expectancy of CEOs has
also fell from 8.1 years in 2000 to 6.3 years in 2009. Investors have to right to fire managers
because they own the company. Companies have to find a balance between the short and long term,
satisfying the market s demand for profits today, while planning for the future. Owners and
regulators seem to be making it harder for bosses to look beyond quarterly earnings and board are
devoting less time to strategy and more enforcing regulations. France s
The Importance Of Communication In Communication
The workplace is an environment that is constantly changing the way managers and co workers
communicate. Whether it may be in communicating in person or online there are typically different
approaches to the communicating to different audiences in the workplace. When co workers
communicate they often send emails to each other regarding a certain objective. The same principle
applies to Managers except being more formal is key to represent a professional proposal. Knowing
the audience you plan to communicate with is important because you need to tailor you message
accordingly to a higher management because the type of audience you are presenting to needs to
have the appropriate message. Things to consider is recognizing the technical and ethical
background of the person you begin to address. This allows you to consider the person you write to
as well as the level of understanding both co worker and manager. Secondly, understanding the
audience you are speaking to is important, but so I identifying the type of writingmediums you plan
to use while communicating. For example if you begin addressing a coworker you can use email to
send professional messages concerning objectives or business. Another writing medium you can use
with coworkers is memos. Memos are typically always within the legal and ethical concerns. This
formal type of medium is great for communicationwith an individual or group. In the textbook
Memos are most often a form of in house correspondence, written
Character Analysis Of White Fang
Through both brutal and loving actions, the characters in White Fang thrive to become the best.
White Fang was taught from young to become fit for the environment of which he faced. Weedon
Scott cherishes White Fang, being the best master White Fang could have. Kiche faced
unmanageable situations, but she still managed to survive. These are the most significant characters
in White Fang that stood out to survive and become the fittest. The character White Fang
demonstrates survival of the fittest through his many actions. First, White Fang was taught since
youth to hunt for his own food. For instance, White Fang had to kill ptarmigan chicks for food, and
he had to kill a weasel because he was being attacked. (London, 73) These events... Show more

Weedon Scott has sympathy for White Fang and has an idea of what he had to go through, just to
survive in the wild. Although, Weedon Scott still demands respect from White Fang and he still
wants White Fang to obey him just like his previous masters. When Weedon Scott fell off of his
horse, he demanded White Fang not to attack the horse, and to go back home. (London, 238) This
example shows how White Fang has to respect Weedon Scott if he wants to be respected back.
Concluding my evidence, these actions show how Weedon Scott is the survival of the fittest.
Kiche showed how she adapted to the savage environment in which she faced. First off, she saved
White Fang from being killed by a lynx and a weasel, and if she did not save him he would have
died. (London, 71) This incident proves that Kiche cared for him, and Kiche would protect her
cubs if necessary. This picture displays how Kiche cared and loved White Fang. A couple years
later, Kiche met up with White Fang and she did not recognize him because White Fang matured
and looked older. Kiche s instinct was to claw White Fang because she thought he was trying to
hurt her newborn cubs. (London, 134) This made White Fang and Kiche mentally stronger, so they
could both move on with their new life. Finally, Kiche willingly gave herself up to indians knowing
she would escape in the future. Kiche, like White Fang, was brilliant and she knew the man animals
were more powerful than her, so that
Who Is Better Than Batman
Iron Man or Batman? Who is Better? Why? This essay is going to give some positive, and some
negative reasons for both super heroes . Many people will say that batman is better, other say iron
man. They both seem to be similar in multiple ways, but there are also several differences. This
essay will break down both to let the reader decide which they think is better. Iron Man, or Tony
Stark, is a famous millionaire philanthropist who designs weapons and sells them to the U.S.
government. On one of his trips to the Middle East he was kidnapped by terrorist and forced to
work for them while being locked in a cave, but what they didn t know is that he was building a
metal suit filled with weapons to help him escape from them. That s what caused
Metacognitive Therapy Summary
Dr. Adrian Wells, the original developer of metacognitive therapy (MCT), sought to create a
transdiagnostic theory and corresponding therapy that in turn would become an alternative to
traditional cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) (Normann et al., 2014; Sadeghi et al., 2015; ).
Traditional CBT does not generally address metacognition, but rather the content of specific
thoughts, instead (Sadeghi et al., 2015). MCT was created, in part, to address this deficiency of
CBT. MCT has created attention within the scientific community since its arrival at the end of the
20th century as a new branch of cognitive therapy that is related to third wave therapies (in the
aspect that MCT focuses on mindfully managing one s thoughts) (Normann et al., 2014).... Show

In essence, metacognition is cognition about cognition thinking about one s attention, thoughts,
memory, etc. (Wells, 2009). MCT is based on an information processing model first proposed by
Dr. Wells, and also co authored by Dr. Gerald Matthews (Wells Matthews, 1996). According to
metacognitive theory, metacognitive processes can produce unhealthy ruminational or maladaptive
presentations in responding to thoughts (Wells, 2009). This is the focal point of metacognitive
therapy practice. An example of a negative or maladaptive metacognition would be a client telling
their therapist: my thoughts make me feel like a piece of driftwood at sea . Negative
metacognitions are at the heart of MCT s view of the origin of psychopathology (Wells, 2009).
MCT borrows from CBT in that they both view maladaptive thinking as cause for psychology
disorder. However, there is a distinction between the two styles; Metacognitive theory views the
origin of psychological disorder as maladaptive metacognitive patterns (rather than just focusing on
the content of negative thoughts), and even judges negative cognitions as naturally temporary
(though negative cognitions can potentially propagate negative metacognitions if not managed
effectively) (Hjemdal et al., 2013; Normann et al., 2014; Wells,
Digital Image And Its Effect On The Quality Of Image
Abstract: In image processing, noise reduction and restoration of image is expected to improve the
qualitative inspection of an image and the performance criteria of quantitative image analysis
techniques Digital image is inclined to a variety of noise which affects the quality of image. The
main purpose of de noising the image is to restore the detail of original image as much as possible.
The criteria of the noiseremoval problem depends on the noise type by which the image is
corrupting .In the field of reducing the image noise several type of linear and non linear filtering
techniques have been proposed . Different approaches for reduction of noise and image enhancement
have been considered, each of which has their own limitation and advantages.
Index Terms Digital Image Processing, Images Types, Image Noise Model, Filters
INTRODUCTION
Digital Image process could be a part of digital signal process .The area of digital image process
refers to handling digital pictures by means of a computing device. Digital image process has
many merits on analog image process; it permits a significantly wider assortment of algorithms to
be apply to input file and may keep from issues for instance the build up of noise and signal
deformation throughout processing. Digital Image process involves the modification of digital
information for improving the image qualities with the help of system. The process helps in
maximize the clarity, sharpness of image and details of options of
Gilgamesh As An Epic Hero
Gilgamesh is one of literatures first heroes, and there is evidence to suggest that he was a real
historical figure who lived between 2500 and 2700 BC. Gilgamesh is credited with building an
immense wall around the city of Uruk, and gradually over the centuries, a 3,000 line epic poem was
written around 1200 B.C. As the king of Uruk, Gilgamesh is two thirds god and one third man,
exceedingly strong, and a tyrant towards his people. Gilgamesh uses forced labor to accomplish the
building projects of his kingdom. As a result, his people pray to the gods for relief from Gilgamesh s
harshness. The gods provide Gilgamesh with a Wildman named Enkidu; matched in strength, they
become best friends. Together they have many adventures. One venture
An Evaluation Of Lms Based Adaptive Filtering
ABSTRACT Current Method of speech enhancement has been developed with adaptive filtering
approach. The removal of unwanted signal i.e. noise from speech signals have applications ranging
from cellular communications to front ends for speech recognition system. This paper describes
proficient algorithm for removal of noise from speech. An optimal evaluation of LMS based adaptive
filtering has been implemented for the observed noisy speech. This Algorithm is basic adaptive
algorithm. This Adaptive algorithm has been used in many practical applications as a result of its
robustness and simplicity. In Future Enhancement Unbiased and Normalized Adaptive noise
reduction will use for speech improvement. Keywords Adaptive filtering, LMS algorithm, MSE,
Speech Enhancement, UNANR. I. INTRODUCTION In Practical situations speech signals are
corrupted by several different forms of noise such as speaker sound, background noise like door slam
fan running in background, car noise, TV noise and also they are concern to distortion caused by
communication channels; examples are low quality microphone, room reverberation, etc. In all such
situations extraction of high resolution signals is an important task. Filtering techniques are mainly
classified as adaptive and non adaptive filtering techniques. Speech enhancement improves quality of
signal by suppression of noise and reduction of distortion. The speech enhancement tells about the
growth of communication system. Enhancement means
Wilhelm Reich Essay
Wilhelm Reich was born in the Austro Hungarian Empire on March 24th, 1897. His parents were
farmers, and at a young age Reich developed a fascination with the life processes of plants and
animals. His formal education at this time was provided by a private tutor.

When Reich was 14, he discovered his mother was having an affair with his tutor. After Reich
reported this to his father, his mother committed suicide. Atwood and Stolorow (1977) have
speculated that this tragedy may have contributed to Reich s most significant theories.

After the death of his father three years later, Reich took over the family farm until it was destroyed
by the Russians in 1915. At that time he joined the Austrian Army. Upon returning from the war,

Because sexuality is often shrouded in ignorance and shame, many people are not able to attain this
release and, according to Reich, are thereby doomed to ill health and neurotic disturbances.

In order to combat societal pressure and educate the youth, Reich began organizing mental hygiene
clinics and sex counseling. He also began joining liberal and socialistic groups at this time,
convinced that only an overthrow of authoritarian society could ultimately alleviate the neurotic
suffering of its constituents. To this end, in 1930 he left his wife and daughters and traveled to
Berlin to join the Communist Party. Three years later, Reich would be expelled from the Party
because of his views regarding sexuality.

With the rise of Hitler, Reich left Germany and traveled to Denmark, and then fled to Sweden to
escape the Nazis. Sweden expelled him, and Reich moved on to Norway, where he began his bion
experiments. It was during these experiments that he discovered what he would term orgone energy, a
form of life energy which the bions emitted. He built and began experimenting with a device
intended to attract and concentrate orgone energy, the orgone accumulator, or ORAC.

In 1939, Reich accepted an invitation to lecture at the New School for Social Research in New
York City, and he moved to the United States. He married again, and in 1944 his son Peter was
born. He continued to experiment with the ORAC, and in 1948 he is said to
Dr. Erik Herzog s Talk Summary
I attended the What wakes us up: Networked Circadian Clocks in The Brain talk by Dr. Erik
Herzog from Washington University. The talk was extremely interesting and helped me better
understand the circadian system s in human s behavior. The first fact that I think is extremely
interesting is how our daily rhythm is driven by a small part of the brain called suprachiasmatic
nucleus. Our brains are well designed and perfectly localized that each part of the brain
responsible for only specific function. However, since everything in the brain is connected, the
shift in one part can greatly affect the others. I have also learned that neuroscience research is a
broad field that involved interdisciplinarity from multiple fields. To study how the circadian system
in our body work, researchers from Dr. Herzog s Laboratory has been using both in vitro, in vivo
and behavior observing techniques. At the beginning of the talk, it is interesting to see how the
behavior of the mouse changed when researcher removed the... Show more content on

Researchers used luciferase on fireflies to study this mechanism. The result showed some significant
results about how this clock gene affect behaviors. With enough enzyme, researchers can repress the
DNA at the clock gene and completely change the behavior of any animal. The gene also provided
some explanations for how light exposure can change human s behaviors. From the talk, Dr. Herzog
mentioned that the VIP (vasoactive intestinal polypeptide) cells in the suprachiasmatic nucleus can
respond to light. Therefore, when the light shifts our daily behavior, it means that the VIP cells must
be activated somehow in the SCN. The activation of VIP results in a chain of reactions inside the
suprachiasmatic nucleus and cause a shift in circadian
