Should Women Be Allowed In Combat Essay
Research Log
Question: Would allowing women in combat help or hurt military and its operations?
As a former female member of the military this question often came to the mind of myself and the
peers around me. This is an issue that stirs a lot of controversy on many news outlets, in government,
among military members and citizens of the United States. In the fight for women to have equal
rights, equal pay, etc., do women have the right to be allowed in combat? After reading several
articles, I noticed several issues are recurring in the argument against women in combat or direct
combat roles. Females sustain higher rate of injuries then men, females physical capabilities to
move wounded soldiers to safety is significantly lower, and their accuracy and effective use of
weapons is lower versus their male counterparts. Multiple studies continually show lower
performance of women in training based exercises, often women incapable of finishing the tasks and
exercises presented. It can be noted that even though women are in the military now and accepted,
the physical standards set for training and requirements are not the same and below that of men in
the military. These things help enforce the argument that women ... Show more content on

Despite my capabilities to excel at my job despite my injury, I was not combat ready per the
military. Being a part of the military is to be physically able at all times, not to just be able to do
your job given. I ve seen on many occasion women often surpass and excel against their male
counterparts physically, even using the same standards of physical training as a man to include
weapons skills and accuracy. At one point I was one of those women. While I do see the physical
aspect of the argument to be valid on many of the facts, I also see many flaws in
Starbucks-Part 1 Case Study
Case 1 (Starbucks Part 1) a) The nature of Starbucks business is to generate income based on
operating activities. When referencing the Statement of Cash Flows and looking at their operating
activities, you can see that Starbucks generates $2,908.3M in net cash provided by operating
activities. Investment is a significant item in this statement as well. The company spent $785.9M in
investments in the year ending September 29th, 2013. Strong investment activities show that
Starbucks is investing through buying and selling (Sales, maturities, and calls of investments
$1,040.2M) and using their spare cash to invigorate future growth and fund future obligations. There
is also heavy investment in property, plant, and equipment with additions totaling $1,151.2M. This
type of investment show us that Starbucks is focused on expansion using cash from operations. They
have a significant amount of cash coming in from operations, and money going out in PP E. The
analyst should not be concerned that Starbucks is borrowing money for negative reasons, and they
are looking very strong from an operating and investing standpoint. They are effectively earning
income and turning it into cash. ________________________________________ b) Commonly

Analysis Of The Return Of Martin Guerre
Natalie Zemon Davis The Return of Martin Guerre depicts the peculiar historical life behind the
trial of Martin Guerre and his wife Bertrande de Rols, whose lives were infiltrated by the imposter,
Arnaud du Tilh. Taken place in Languedoc, France, the life of Martin Guerre a young peasant man,
in which his abandonment of his flourishing farm and lifestyle in the village of Artigat, created the
historical trial of impersonating lies, held to justify the innocence of one s word against another. In
the visual effects of the filmographic film The Return of Martin Guerredirected by Daniel Vigne;
visualizes the historical story of Davis work into the world of cinema. In the time span of two hours
and three minutes, the viewer is presented with the mysterious revelation of the identity of Bertrand
s husbandMartin. While both the film and the book uncover the identity of Martin and his imposter,
Arnaud, the representations of the uprising allegations against Arnaud in the film are in fact not
equivalent to that of the book. Throughout the film, it showcased Bertrande as of a victim of Arnaud
s duplicity, viewing her as a pure wife who was caught in the lies. Rather than playing the victim, in
the book she consorts a dishonest marriagewithin a period in which women were consigned to
subordinate positions, holding the most important voice in the rising of allegations against Martin
Guerre.
In the film, we meet a young Bertrande de Rols who with the abandonment of her husband
Apollos At The Gospel Of Jesus
APOLLOS
Apollos was an Egyptian Jew who was born native of Alexandria Egypt. He was an eloquent
preacher, learned, mighty in scriptures, an orator and one who has a thorough knowledge of the
scripture. He spoke with great favor and taught about Jesus accurately. However, he appear to have
known only the baptism of John. During his preaching and teaching Aquila and Priscilla heard him,
and expounded the way of God more perfectly to him. The truth of the matter was that he was an
Egyptian Jew from North Africa and also one who have a fervent spirit to preach Christ to all, and
he became one of the major and famous Christian leader at the church of Ephesus and Corinth. The
Egyptian Apollo preached the gospel of Jesus Christ and mightily
The Queen Of Spades Alexander Pushkin Analysis
The human mind proves itself extremely turbulent and intricate in its functionality. Before modern
medicine understood it to the extent that it does in the present day, ideas of insanity and madness
were speculated by the masses. Even today, in an era that has become so progressive in medical
studies and knowledge, the topic still remains ambiguous. In the nineteenth century, there was a great
deal of misunderstanding when it came to insanity, with this curiosity came artistic expression. As
seen in the 1834 work of Alexander Pushkin, The Queen of Spades, the journey to this supposed
madness is explored and traced through literal phrasing as well as contextual evidence. The tale
faults the protagonist s, Hermann s, very human vices of rage... Show more content on

Such a claim is supplemented with the claim that the gun was not loaded, making his innocence
highly plausible. At face value, he seems to have logically thought out a means by which to acquire
his information; this is contradicted upon further inspection and the idea that he may have already
lost his battle to maintaining his sanity. His plan to enter the cupboard and wait for the countess is
so calculated and drawn out by Pushkin it is hard to believe his decision to draw a firearm on the
old woman be undeserving of an introduction of a similar nature. Its abrupt and sudden appearance
almost mirrors the lack of structure present in his mind. There is no indication that the gun was, in
fact, empty of bullets other than the word of a man that is later committed. As the theme of what
appears to be is not always so is prevalent throughout the tale, there is fair reason to believe that his
rage over took his sensibility, much as his desire had done, and drove him to his actions. Was it not
for the sudden death of The Countess, there is no concrete indication that he would not use the
weapon on
Explain How The Testicles Initially Develop In The Abdomen
The testicles initially develop in the belly (abdomen). The testicles move down into the scrotum
before birth. As they do this, some of the lining of the abdomen comes down as a tube with the
testes. This tube connects the abdomen to the scrotum but is usually closed at birth. However,
sometimes, it remains open. A hydrocele forms either because fluid produced in the abdomen: Was
trapped in the scrotum when the tube closed (most common hydrocele). Can pass back and forth
between the scrotum and abdomen because the tube is still open (communicating hydrocele).
SYMPTOMS Most hydroceles cause no symptoms other than swelling in the scrotum. They are not
painful. A communicating hydrocele often causes changes in size of the scrotum.
Sinclair s The Jungle And Schlosser s Fast Food Nation
Despite almost a century separating two publications on the meat industry in the United States, the
works of Upton Sinclair and Eric Schlosser contain eerily similar accounts in attempt to expose the
dangers behind our food. These shocking revelations exposed by Sinclair and Schlosser have
forever changed the way our nation views its food. Sinclair s The Jungleand Schlosser s Fast Food
Nation discuss the topics of factory conditions and their safety, prevalence of immigrant workers, the
conditions of animals and their health, and the corruption behind large corporations and the federal
government. These overwhelming similarities have caused Schlosser to be compared to his
predecessor Sinclair. Although each reading contains many similar elements, Sinclair and Schlosser
had different intentions for the public reaction to their works. In The Jungle and Fast Food Nation,
the conditions and safety of the factory was portrayed in different aspects. Sinclair s motive behind
the writing of The Jungle was for the public to see the lack of safety and poor conditions the
workers faced. Workers in the meatpacking industryduring the early 1900s were subject to inhumane
and brutal treatment including small pay, severe injuries, and even death. Workers were there for
long hours with little compensation for risking their limbs and lives as a result of the work. Many
were covered with cuts, working in an environment filled with diseases, and without fingers from the
acid exposure
Example Of The Movie Family Affair
Family Affair is one of the most interesting award winning documentaries I have seen. Family Affair
has given me an opportunity to think about ones family experience with incest. Incest occurs when
two people have sexual relations with someone their related to. Incest is something that has been on
going amongst many families generation after generation. This familyexperienced many racial,
physical, and sexual trauma. Incest at one point of time was an issue not many were bothered by
but, today it is seen as taboo amongst many cultures. Family Affair is based on a true story about
filmmaker Chico Colvard, dysfunctional family. Family Affair consists of a black father and white
mother(German) who have 4 four children 3 girls (Chici,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My heart sank when the police officer told their mom she got what she deserved. This documentary
relates to the Sociology of deviant behavior course in many ways. For example this movie is filled
with deviant behavior. Deviant behavior is behavior that is ubsurd and violates the social norm.
Raping and abusing someone is not the social norm it also leads to violence. This type of
behavior is looked down upon especially when family is involved. Conflict theory of crime also
relates to this because of the problems that occured amongst everyone in the family that caused
incest and raping each to occur. This documentary has a lot in common with Little Children . A
film that talks about a sex offender living in a suburb neighborhood that is very family oriented
and parents are scared to death. Labeling theory is apart of the documentary as well because the
father was labeled to be a rapist and the family was called out and many of them were called
names. Control theory played a huge role in this documentary as well. The father had control over
everything you can tell he was very stict. Everything was done his way no matter what no one else

We Real Cool
We Real Cool
English 125

We Real Cool In this paper the topic that will be written about is the poem entitled We Real Cool .
This poem was written in 1960 by a woman named Gwendolyn Brooks. In this paper three topics
have been selected so that this poem will be able to be analyzed. With each element, it will de
discussed how those elements affected and interested me while reading. The three elements that have
been written about are form, language, and content. Form, in poetry, can be understood as the
physical structure of the poem: the length of the lines, their rhythms, their system of rhymes and
repetition (The Poetry Archive, 2005 2010). Form is the technical word for the look and sound of
language (Kwikguide, 2009). In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a lot of confusion about what the writer was trying to get across. Initially, the thought
that the poem was referring to herself was a bit transparent, so immediately the thought was that
it was supposed to be a tragic poem. However, after listening to the author read the poem, and did
more research, there was complete surprise. The poem was written to come off as a happy and a
very positive poem. As it was mentioned previously, the most interesting part about this poem is
the We . Gwendolyn is a very enjoyable sounding writer. She has a very strong pronunciation and
the age in her voice helps with the passionate sound of the reading. In conclusion, form, content, and
language come together in this literary work to offer a striking emotional response from its reader.
Without each of these specific components, the poem simply wouldn t have the same effect. Form
is necessary to provide structure, content its scene and language its sound and feel. Gwendolyn
Brooks has included each ingredient to provide a brief, but strong feeling one way or another, for
the young people of this poem.

Different Stages Of Development Children Go Through Essay
Sensitive Periods
Have you ever wondered how many times a child can repeat an activity or a song or an action
without getting bored? When I was working as an assistance teacher at our school, even I used to
get questions from parents about why children are repetitive in some things at certain stages. These
types of questions will be answered if we all understand the concepts explained by Dr. Maria
Montessori regarding different stages of development children go through.
Maria Montessori believed that children pass through different phases in which at certain stages
throughout their development they have a predisposition or sensitivity to learning a specific skill.
These stages are called Sensitive Periods . Each period lasts for as long as it is necessary for the
child to accomplish a particular stage in his development. These periods of sensitivity are
transitory. They only last for a certain duration of time. Some sensitive periods run parallel, some
overlap and some succeed each other. When the goal of the period is accomplished, the special
sensitivity simply falls away. In other words, it reaches its peak and dies away.
The concept of Sensitive Periods in a child s life will remain forever as Dr. Maria Montessori s
greatest discovery. Even though the concept was first used by a famous Dutch biologist, Hugo de
Vries in connection with animal development research, Dr. Maria Montessori was the one who
found similarities and applied the concept to human development
Pursuing A Life At College
At the average age of eighteen, every student must decide what their future will entail. Some students
will choose to skip college to dive into ministry, military training, or work. Many students, however,
do decide to pursue a life at college. In the United States alone, there are approximately 5,300
different colleges/universities from which a studentcan choose. This substantial number of colleges
often leaves a student overwhelmed, confused, and stressed over finding their perfect college. As I
have researched, I have narrowed my perfect college choices down to two very different options,
Baylor Universityand Lee University. Baylor University was founded in 1844 by Reverend William
Milton Tryon and District Judge R.E.B. Baylor in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
564 of these students are international (3%). This is significantly larger than Lee University who
has 4,575 with 251 international students (5%). Not only is there a drastic size difference, but
also a drastic cost difference. Baylor charges a total of $56,776 a year. This large total can be
divided up into six categories: tuition $36,360, various fees $4,038, room and board $11,140,
books and supplies $1,276, transportation $1,174, and personal expenses $2,788. Lee is 48%
cheaper coming in at a total of $27,500. This cost can be divided into four categories: tuition
$14,280, room and board $7,520, books and supplies $1,200, and personal expenses $4,500.
Accompanying the 16,787 students at Baylor are 119 majors and 77 minors. Lee, on the other
hand, has 105 majors and 52 minors. Although both universities have similar options, Baylor has
more of the basic college majors and minors. Lee, however, has more specialized courses. For
example, Lee offers four different options for Discipleship Ministry major. Both Baylor and Lee
are Christian universities who practice pursuing after Christ in their college activities. Lee has
chapel twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) with students being required to attend 70% of the
chapels per a semester. Most of Lee s chapels are simply worship led by both students and well
known artists, but they do often have speakers as well. Baylor has chapel twice a week (Mondays
and Wednesdays) and require students to attend
Body Farm Observation
On September 10, 2017 approximately 4:00 P.M 10 piglets were placed on the Northside of
Heartland Career Center. They were placed for a body farm project where the students of the
criminal justice class could record the process of decomposing body s. All the piglets used in the
body farm were still born meaning they died at birth. On Monday September 11, 2017 we started
our observation of the piglets. On the first day we went out as a class so Mr. Stricker could
verbally identify the piglets. When we went back to the class room to start our daily entries we
also started theory questions. The question was answered at the start to have a hypothesis of what
we thought would happen. Over the course of the body farm project we run into the issue of the
weekends meaning no observation for 2 days on September 15, 2017 we recorded that the natural
state pig had a little blotting to the stomach. The burnt pig also had small blotting with flies on it
at this time we couldn t see the buried piglet. When we returned to school September 18, 2017 we
observed that both the natural state pig and the burnt pig were about gone. Still we couldn t
observe the buried piglet. The natural state piglet was about 5% more gone then the burnt piglet.
When we came to observe on September 19, 2017 both the burnt piglet and natural state piglet was
decomposed. On September 25, 2017 we got to observe the buried piglet and it is still intact.... Show

The Benefits Of Instant Ramen
Without a doubt, instant ramen has been consumed throughout the world. One can find an instant
ramen package at almost any supermarket, convenient stores, gas stations, or even in vending
machine in the U.S., as well as in many countries throughout the world. Instant ramen has become so
popular in the last decade because they are convenient, quick and easy meals to prepare (Kwong).
The cup noodle is particularly suited to the rapid pace of modern living. Because, instant ramen
comes in a cup along with chopstick, all the customer needs to do is just to pour the hot water into
the cup and wait for a few minutes (Sarhan). Most of the times, there is places with hot water
available so that the customer can consume the product immediately after purchase (Sarhan). As
Ayman Sarhan said, instant noodleshave become a favorite for many college student, bachelors and
people who work overtime a lot (Sarhan). In addition, it is inexpensive to buy a package of
instant ramen. As Jaewon Yoon explain in his article, with the average packet costing a consumer
only 13 cents, you could eat three square meals a day for an entire year for just $142.65 (Yoon).
Perfect for people who are on a tight budget. Plus, it s very difficult to get bored of eating it
because of the many flavors there are to choose from. Another thing is that the whole package is
very lightweight and it s perfect to be easily carried to work or outdoor activities such as hiking,
camping, or for traveling (Sarhan). But,
