Analysis Of The Book Daughter Of Time
Josephine Tey s Daughter of Time is a story that gives the reader a role in being a detective, filling
in Sherlock Holmes s shoes but with a twist. Within the first few chapters we meet Alan Grant, a
famous inspector from England s Scotland Yard. He is confined in a hospital after sustaining an
injury, leaving him immensely bored during his recovery there. Where he would trace and map
out ceiling cracks for hours; after awhile he became acquainted with the nurses that would come
in and out of his room. His actress friend Marta brings printed materials for Grant to read but he
would reject them, the reason is not known. His antsy behavior shows that he craves a mental
challenge. Grant eventually got what he wanted; Marta suggested that he should try solving an
old mystery that no one has managed to solve. She brings him pictures, portraits of faces from
different historical eras. During his recovery, he spends time analyzing the collection that Marta
provides him. It s clear that Grant adopts Carr s and Elton s methodology into solving this case
and without either of them it wouldn t be possible. He came across a picture of Richard III, who
had accusations of killing his two nephews; his Brother Edward IV s sons. It is evident that Grant
takes pride in his skills as an inspector and speculates that Edward III is not the perpetrator of the
murders. From that point he undertakes the task of learning British history. Finding clues and piecing
them together, disregarding
The Reflection Of Living With Jesus Christ In The World
While living and serving in a Chiang Mai prison in Thailand, I met with a radical Muslim man
named, Ali, who was serving a life sentence in the Thai prison because, he murdered a Thai woman.
As growing up in Pakistan, it is very challenging to love those who persecute and hate you. Initially,
he didn t want to do anything with Christianity. But after meeting him for at least six months, with
difficult conversations, he decided to accept JesusChrist as his personal savior. From that point on, I
had to leave all my hard feelings behind and accept him as a part of the body of Christ and take
care of him. Honestly, I had to listen him cry and suffer in the Thai prison. But in the midst of all
that suffering, I had to stand right beside him, fight for his basic rights in the Thai judicial system,
communicate with the Pakistani embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, and wrap my arms around him.
Today, we will learn together from the passage 1 Corinthians 12:12 27 in which Paul uses a
metaphor of a body to describe diversity and unity in the body of Christ and its functions and how
do we need to take care of those who are facing extreme persecution.
Slide 2
Using metaphors were and still are pretty common in the Middle Eastern culture to obtain deeper
understanding of a phenomenon. In the Old Testament, the term body mostly refers to the physical
body. But here Paul uses the term body in a metaphorical way to help its readers to understand the
intertwine relationship in the universal
The Role Of Single Motherhood And Residential Mobility As...
While the nation tirelessly debates the state of immigration in this country, far less attention has been
devoted to migrations within the country and the implications it has on affordable housing policy.
Residential mobility is one of the primary factors in measuring housing stability, and it often has
crucial ramification on housing policy, research, and service orientations that address a multitude of
issues ranging from neighborhood povertyto racial discrimination. While residential mobility is
widespread across the economic spectrum, low income families have consistently been shown to
move more frequently (Coulton, Theodos, Turner 56). Frequent or involuntary residential mobility
can have an array of consequences for families, including disruption of employment, interference
with the educational attainment of children, and interruptions within social networks (Crowley et al.
56). With approximately 26 percent of children living with a single parent today, and an estimated 31
percent of single parent households living under the poverty line (census), the research in this paper
will examine the relationship between single motherhood and residential mobility as a measure of
housing stability. (Horowitz, Parker, Rohal 7)
Residential mobility can be defined as the frequent change of residence, either within the same city
or town, or between cities, states and communities (Coulton et al. 261). Melissa A. Kull, Rebekah
Levine Coley, and Alicia Doyle draw a picture of
How Companies Handle Nonliquidating Distributions
This paper explores the different types of nonliquidating distributions and how they distributed to
shareholder in a corporation from research collected online (Internet) and offline (non Internet). The
online research was done using sites including the IRS website, ProQuest and EBSCOhost. The
majority of the offline was done using the textbook McGraw Hill s Taxation of Business Entities:
2016 Edition. The different types of nonliquidating distributions includes property distribution,
dividend from earnings and profits, constructive dividends, stock redemptions, and partial
liquidation. Form 1099 DIV will be shown in the appendix to show the distribution of dividend to
shareholders. The research indicated that each type of nonliquidating distribution is important to the
corporation. The purpose of this paper is to give a general overview of how companies handle
nonliquidating distributions throughout the year and to provide an explanation of the distributions.
Nonliquidating Distributions Today s economy was founded upon the fundamentals of capitalism
and continues to find its strength in the presence of freedom of enterprise and trade. Regulation and
taxes are vital in order to support fairness amongst businesses and to provide funds for the
government to develop and maintain the country s infrastructure. Most companies distribute some of
the company s accumulated profits, so that is why it is important to characterize the distribution
under whether it
Realism In Eliza Haywood
Abstract: Eliza Haywood, writing in the early eighteenth century English literary and cultural space
provided a new concept of womanhood and femininity through her amatory works. The amatory
novella, a novelistic subgenre, popularized by the women writers of the late seventeenth and early
eighteenth century England, foregrounded excessive emotion and passion in contrast to the
contemporary male writings which dealt with realism in both the theme and technique of
representation. Eliza Haywood not only provided a counter tradition to the mainstream male
tradition of writing realistic, matter of fact fictions through her sensational, erotic prose fictions but
raised a strong antipatriarchal voice through the female protagonists of her novellas. As a writer she
exploited the trauma and suffering that the female... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Greatly influenced by the French nouvellas and romances of the seventeenth century, Haywood s
amatory novellas foregrounded sentimentalism, eroticism, fantasy in contrast to the moral, realistic
and rational mode of the male tradition. Backscheider and Richetti observed that if social
observation and psychological depth are considered the markers of modern novel it was introduced in
the prose fictions, long before Richardson and Fielding legitimized it, through the writings of the
women amatory novelists such as Aphra Behn, Manley, Haywood, Aubin (Backscheider x). Dr.
Johnson s definition of novel as a small tale generally of love is best suited to the amatory fictions
which catered the public demand for fictions which would be shorter, less stylized, immediately
appealing to a wider range of taste, more practical and affordable (Backscheider xi). Thus, the
amatory novellas introduced the formula of modern mass market fiction in eighteenth century

Delta has been focusing on technological innovations but they need to keep on doing that to be
profitable.
Alternatives:
Based on the SPACE matrix, Delta Air Line is in the Competitive quadrant which suggests that delta
should focus on integration, market penetration, market development, product development. With
the help of SWOT matrix there are seven alternative strategies that Delta Air Line can opt from in
order to increase its business and sustain (Appendix A).
The SO category suggests three alternatives. The first alternative is to include airlines in India and
China under the Sky Team alliance. By doing this, Delta can penetrate into untapped emerging
markets and increase its presence. The reason we suggest India and China is because these countries
were amongst the lowest to be affected by recession and Delta doesn t have its prevalence in these
regions (http://www.economist.com/node/15172941). Secondly, Delta can capitalize on creating its
hubs in India strategically in the long run after gaining access to these markets. The airline will
benefit from larger population in both the countries and the government in India encourages Foreign
Direct Investment in comparison to China. The third strategy promote business traveler programs in
the U.S. Business travelers spend more on their trips and are not as
Benedick And Claudio In Much Ado About Nothing
In many cases, a pair of foil characters can make reading the best way to spend your time. In Much
Ado About Nothing, William Shakespeare introduces Benedick and Claudio, two tough soldiers
who happen to be ruthless lovers that fall in and out of love with two mistresses related to the
Governor of Messina. In the play, lovetakes over and ruins relationships; but in the end, these two
remain friends and become married men, which shows that love strengthens friendships also.
Benedick and Claudio are foils to each other in this play to show that love can strongly affect
friendships, negatively and positively. First off, the character Benedick can be described as
desperate and indecisive. Benedick proudly exclaims his love for Beatrice after being tricked into
thinking that Beatrice is madly in love with him by his friends.... Show more content on

Benedick will do anything to keep his lady, which includes fighting to the death with his friend.
Claudio loses his lover because he believes that Hero cheated on him. When Benedick and Claudio
meet, Benedick lets his love go too far and attempts to kill Claudio. For instance, Bendick says this
to Claudio:
You are a villain. I jest not. I will make it good how you dare, with what you dare, and when you
dare. Do me right, or I will protest your cowardice. You have killed a sweet lady, and her death
shall fall heavy on you. Let me hear from you. (Shakespeare 86) They remain enemies until Benedick
comprehends how happy his lady has made him, which then steers him to make up with Claudio and
remain with Beatrice. This shows that Benedick and Claudio are different to show how love can
affect relationships because Benedick s commitment to Beatrice results in him and Claudio fighting
many times in the play, but it ends with them building a healthy relationship while keeping their

African. Written by Himself. (London: The Project Gutenberg eBook, 2005)
In his book, The Interesting Narrative of the Life Olaudah Equiano or Gustavus Vassa, The African.
Written by Himself, Olaudah Equiano describes his life from the time he was captured and enslaved
at a young age to his journey to freedom. Throughout his book he recalls his culture back in Africa
and compares it with the strange, and obscure observations of his experience during his time as a
slave. Equiano sometimes struggles with his thoughts on slavery and his particular situations
sometimes contradict his judgments. During his time as a slave, Equiano faces a journey that
challenges him mentally, physically, and spiritually. Through his journey, Equiano finds that the
pathway to freedom is through intellectual development, and his new religious finding of God
through the bible. To make his argument, Olaudah Equiano starts his narrative by describing the
village he was from and their customs so that his readers can understand his background. Equiano
was from the village where in his culture manners are simple, and luxuries are few . (53) His village
is known as Essaku in the Kingdom of Benin, Africa. In his village, Equiano was not aware of
those who did not look like him. He had never heard or seen of white people. Though he did not
know of white people, he already

Mockingbird Theme
The mockingbird, one of the most relevant symbols in the novel, directly connects to our main
themes of innocence and appearance versus reality. Mockingbirds mimic the sounds of other
birds, so it would be a sin to kill a mockingbird based on what sounds they produce since they only
imitate what they hear. Lee effectively uses the mockingbird to illustrate pure innocent people
who were undeservedly destroyed by the prejudice of society. The narrow mindedness of the
community destroyed two mockingbirds, Boo Radley and Tom Robinson, and robbed Mayella
Ewell of living her life to its full potential. The hypocrisy of Maycomb throws it into chaos, thus
becoming a dysfunctional society. Mockingbirds don t do one thing but make music for us to
enjoy. They don t eat up people s gardens, don t nest in corncribs, they don t do one thing but sing
their hearts out for us. That is why it s a sin to kill a Mockingbird. (Lee 119)
Every day Tom Robinson would pass the Ewell residence and occasionally help Mayella Ewell
with chores, which would ultimately lead to him being charged with raping Miss Ewell. The fact is
that the jury had already decided the result of the case before they even entered the courtroom. Most
of the people of Maycomb hold the prejudice that because he is black he is presumed to be guilty of
the accused offense. This leads to the injustice of him being sentenced even with the solid evidence
against the charges.Though the trial targets Tom Robinson, in another sense
Storm On Galilee
The Storm on the Sea of Galilee was painted in 1633 by Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, a
Dutch artist who is claimed to be the best throughout time. The painting was stolen in 1990 from the
Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and has never been seen since. It is depicted from
Jesus Calms the Storm which appears in Mathew 8:23, Mark 4:35, and Luke 8:22. Rembrandtdid a
good job representing the story while keeping a strong artistic value and quality in the painting. The
Biblical story of JesusCalms the Storm appears in the three synoptic gospels of Mathew, Mark, and
Luke. The story starts out with Jesus asking his disciples to cross the Sea of Galilee with him. After
Jesus had fallen asleep, a great storm had blown in and the disciples... Show more content on

Rembrandt used a triadic color scheme, meaning he used one color with two other colors that are
on the opposite side of the color wheel. For example, a majority of the painting is blue while in
some parts are yellow and orange/brown. This color scheme also goes into the majority and
minority aspect of the painting. A majority of the painting is dark and blue, while the minority of the
painting bright and yellow. The majority and minority helps make the painting more interesting and
it creates strong contrast with the dark sky and sea. With the front of the boat being the minority
and the highest level of contrast, it becomes the main focal point. Light and shadows are another
thing Rembrandt did well with. It adds a level of detail that makes the painting more realistic and
understandable. There is also a use of psychic lines in the painting, all of the men surrounding Jesus
are looking at when which creates another focal point and allows the audience to understand who

The Growth Of Marine Diatom
Abstract
The growth of marine diatom, Chaetoceros muelleri, used as live feed in aquaculture, was
optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). The variables initially screened for biomass
production using Plackett Burman experimental design were nitrate, phosphate, silicate,
temperature, pH, salinity and agitation speed. The screening revealed that nitrate, phosphate,
silicate, temperature and pH significantly influenced the biomass production of C. muelleri. These
five variables were further optimized by central composite design (CCD) of RSM for biomass
production and the medium was constituted accordingly to have nitrate 180 mg l 1, phosphate 7.5
mg l 1, silicate 30 mg l 1, and temperature of incubation 31oC and pH 6.46. At the end of 10 day
culture period under the above conditions biomass, protein, lipid and carbohydrate were found
significantly increased from 360 ±0.01 mg l 1, 9.41±0.02%,18.11±0.01%, 0.6±0.02% to 1.16±0.01g

Introduction
Microalgae have immense applications in biotechnology as source of food, feed additives, coloring
substances, antioxidants, cosmetics, toxins and isotopes (Pulz and Gross 2004). They are critically
important in aquaculture industry as they are the natural food source of larval stages of many
aquaculture organisms including fish, crustaceans, and mollusks
