PERSUASION, INDOCTRINATION, AND INOCULATION 2 There are many dangers that plague
us in today s society. One of the most pressing issues is that of driving under the influence of alcohol.
This is a problem for many reasons. Firstly, driving while intoxicated is illegal. It shows the rising
problem of substance abuse, and most importantly, driving drunk is deadly. According to
Drinkinganddriving.org (2008 2013), 900,000 are arrested each year for DUI/DWI and a full 1/3 of
those are repeat offenders . None of us are perfect. We all do things every day that ... Show more

If you are convicted of DUI, it may be on your criminal record for your entire life. Offenses also
go on your driving record, which potential employers and insurers can access, ( How Stuff Works
, 1998 2013). If you are driving under the influence of alcohol, the chances of you having a
substance abuse problem are very high. Substance abuse, simply put, is losing control of yourself
to a substance. If you do not have enough self control, or common sense, not to get into a vehicle
when you have any type of foreign substance in your body, then you have a serious problem. Sure,
you may not be waking up at eight in the morning and devouring a bottle of gin, but you are not only
putting yourself in danger, but also others. With the amount of people in the United states that have
problems with alcohol, and the amount of DUI s that are given, the correlation between the numbers
is not at all surprising.
Alcohol is the number one drug problem in America. There are more than 12 million alcoholics
in the U.S. Three fourths of all adults drink alcohol, and 6% of them are alcoholics. Americans
spend $197 million each day on alcohol. In the United States, a person is killed in an alcohol
related car accident every 30 minutes. A 2000 study found nearly 7 million persons age 12 to 20
were binge drinkers. Three fourths of all high school seniors report being drunk at least once.
Adolescents who begin drinking before the age of 15 are four
Duality And Sensitivity Essay
6Duality and Sensitivity
The optimal solution for a linear programming problem can be calculated by utilizing the simplex
method. Yet, we may still ponder on whether we have truly discovered the optimal solution of our
linear model. Furthermore, we could be concerned on what to do with the surplus of resources at our
hands. In addition, the parameters that we utilized to formulate our model may not reflect the actual
parameters. Those values may have been simply estimates that would guide us in identify a best
possible outcome. Therefore, we are required to conduct further analysis and determine if indeed we
have achieved optimization. In linear programming, analyzing the concept of duality and sensitivity
is extremely useful. It gives us reassurance that our optimal solution would be feasible in reality. If it
was not the best solution, we can now focus on how to reach the optimal solution and optimize our
given objective.
The first issue that we may encounter is whether we utilized our surplus of resources wisely as we
optimize our objective function. All linear programming problems have an associated linear
programming problem called the dual [4]. We call our main problem the primal and the associated
problem the dual. Analyzing the relationship of the optimization of both problems will give us good
insight in weather resources were utilized wisely. The dual problem can be formulated by alternating
our primal problem. If the primal problem s objective
Marriage and Divorce Laws Must be More Strict Essay
Too many times we read an article involving another celebrity and their messy divorce. Take for
instance the divorce of Tiger Woods, and Elin Nordegren. Do you remember this headline? Tiger
Woods injured in crash . The now infamous Thanksgiving night car accident, which led us all to
believe that Tiger Woods was involved in a serious car crash and nothing more? Later we come to
find out that this auto accident was tied into a serious cheating scandal. In America marriageis a
contract that joins two people together. In marriage, personal happiness, and trust is given the utmost
importance. People enter into matrimonial alliances for the sake of seeking personal happiness. If
this happiness is not forthcoming, then they will terminate the... Show more content on

American weddings last for a few hours, and they cost thousands of dollars. I see the differences
with foreign cultured weddings versus the traditional American wedding. In America, we have lost
most of our cultural foundations, and I believe this is another reason for the decline in marriages.
My inherited opinion is from my family and from my culture. They have instilled in me that being
married is a part of my heritage and culture. My opinion also comes from linked opinion. Such as
same sex marriage are closely linked with political affiliation. My adaptive opinion comes from my
religious affiliation. Involuntary opinions comes from the constant bombardment of news regarding
same sex marriages, economic chaos and the women s liberation movement. Another involuntary
opinion is from the constant news about Hollywood celebrities and their marriages. My religion and
culture follow well under linked opinions.
I agree with the author Aja Gabel that marriages are weakening because of the women s liberation
movement. Women are becoming a main stream economic provider in the family household. Many
corporations now have women holding high positions for the company that they work for. For
example, in January 2014 General Motors announced that Marry Barra will be taking over the CEO
role for that company. In fact, several other corporations such as Hewlett Packard, Lockheed Martin,
Xerox, DuPont, General Dynamics, PepsiCo, and Yahoo all have women as their CEO s. It is
The Leap By Louise Erdrich, And The Trip By Laila Lalami
Have you ever thought that three completely different stories might have something in common? It
might seem unlikely, but now you can change what you previously thought! The short stories
Contents of a Dead Man s Pockets by Jack Finney, The Leap by Louise Erdrich, and The Trip by
Laila Lalami, all have their similarities and differences on several aspects. This can be demonstrated
through the topics of setting, conflict, characters, and theme. These topics help make up the plot of
each story. No story is the same, but they can have similar messages or themes meant for the
audience. Some can argue that these three short stories are completely different, but other individuals
differ. These main elements from each story can be both, depending on one s point of view.
The setting is a good example of both similarities and differences. For instance, the setting helped
shape the story and form the plot. In Contents, the main character (Tom) opens the window in his
apartment on a breezy night. ...caught in the dying current flowing through the narrow opening. (pg

FIN/419: Finance for Decision Makers
Assessing the Goal of Sports Products, Inc.
Many people believe that the primary objective of a firm is to maximize profits. Sports Products,
Inc. is a firm who has followed this practice during its 20 year history. The management of Sports
Products, Inc. has concentrated on maximizing profits while ignoring other critical factors.
Management s decision to maximize profits has created issues with its overriding goal, agency
problem, approach to pollution control, and corporate governance. In order for Sports Products, Inc.
to resolve the issues, changes need to be made in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Expenses to control pollution may have decreased profits, but Sports Products, Inc. would not have
created a negative public image that impaired its competitive advantage. Stockholders would not
have sold their stock in recognition of lower cash flows, and the price of shares may not have fallen.
By controlling pollution the firm could have eliminated litigation, enhanced its corporate image, and
shareholder confidence and loyalty could have been gained, thus enhancing cash flow and increasing
price share.
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
Sports Products, Inc. does not appear to have an effective corporate governance structure because a
well defined and enforced corporate governance provides a structure that, at least in theory, works
for the benefit of everyone concerned by ensuring that the enterprise adheres to accepted ethical
standards and best practices as well as to formal laws (SearchFinancialSecurity, 2010, para. 2). The
failure in the structure appears to begin with the board of directors. The board should have
established and monitored goals, plans, and policies on behalf of the shareholders. Dividends should
have been paid, a profit sharing plan for management should have never been approved, and
unethical actions should have never occurred. Monitoring by the board should have eliminated any
activities not within policy.

Sprint s Mission Statement Outline
Shortly after this acquisition, the Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son elected to bring in a new
CEO for the company, Marcelo Claure. Marcelo had previously created a start up company that he
had built from scratch into a multi billion dollar operation (Brightstar). He was tasked with turning
the company around and in the 2 years since he began, Sprint has seen a 100% turnover of all C
level executives.
Against this backdrop, Sprint has made significant changes in the last 2 years to embark on a
turnaround plan of epic importance to its future. The industry is preparing for another major
technology upgrade to 5th Generation (5G) which will bring about even faster data speeds, greater

Sprint has also recently adopted a four point vision statement for where the company seeks to go in
the future and has worded it in future tense, as if the statements are being made at a future time
when they have been realized. It has been internally communicated in a memo (personal
communication, August 7, 2016) as follows:
Sprint has defied the odds and executed one of America s most iconic turnarounds. Consumers

positive effect on older people living in a residential home. To see also if being given greater choice
in a care home would affect their alertness activity. Langer Rodin aimed to investigate the effects of
enhanced personal responsibility and choice in a group of nursing home patients. Specifically if
increased control has generalised beneficial effects, which in turn affect physical and mental

The experimental group was also told they could discuss their complaints and tell a nurse how the
home should change. In the control group, the second floor residents were just given a plant with
no choice, were told which night they would see the movie and were told their rooms had been
arranged for maximum comfort. Also, they were told about the complaints procedure but were not
told they could offer suggestions for improving anything. 3 days the later both groups were again
visited and the same message was repeated. Patients were given a questionnaire by a research
assistant who didn t know aims/hypothesis etc, about how happy and active they felt and how much
control they felt they had over life events. They answered on a scale from 0 8, 0=none 8=total.
Nurses filled out the 2nd questionnaire that staffed both floors; they were also unaware of the
experimental treatments. They were asked about how happy/alert/sociable/active and dependent the
residents were. There were also records taken on their participation in competitions, attendance at
movie night etc. Also, some of the residents wheelchairs wheels were covered in a white tape so
researchers could measure how far they had gone in their wheelchairs!! Perspective developmental

Electromagnetic Radiation Lab
During this experiment/lab we had to undergo a process that would create our own calorimeter and
increasing the total energy captured. By using 80ml of water in the breaker having two holes for the
thermometer and for the air to escape. The thermometer came through the top and the cup covered of
the beaker at the bottom. We had the option to pick a Styrofoam cup or a Soda Can. Our group
picked the Styrofoam. So we covered the cup in aluminum inside and out. When combusting the chip
we determined that the total energycaptured increased.
Secondly we have Electromagnetic Radiation. Basically the study of Electromagnetic Radiation is
dealing with how much electrically charged particles come together with each other with Magnetic
