Frankenstein Impact
The Impact of Frankenstein on Other Gothic Novels and the Creation of the Mad Scientist Today,
Frankenstein has been incorporated into most cartoons, films, and costumes seen today.
Frankenstein is known for his green skin, grim face, and the staples and bolts than fasten him
together. Although, Frankenstein is actually the name of his creator, Victor Frankenstein, the gothic
novelillustrates its influence in society on other novels, even as the origins of Frankenstein are
unknown to many, after the publishing of other gothic novels that postdated. Frankenstein centers
around Victor Frankenstein, the mad scientist who defies science and creates a living monster from
human body parts. As the novel progresses, roles reverse as, the monster... Show more content on

The Romantic Movement occurred during the late 18th to the mid 19th century, which was close to
the time Frankenstein was published (Romanticism). The Romantic Movement influenced
Frankenstein, that was now expanding. Likewise, Frankenstein was deeply influenced by the
romantics, and.. can certainly identify a number of characteristics of romanticism in this novel .
(Smith). Moreover, Frankenstein was not only influenced by the Romantic Movement, but impacted
it also. For example, Frankenstein questions the facile assumptions of romanticism , and redefines
the movement by auditing the romantic text , using her gothic novel (Smith). Like previously stated,
Frankenstein differed from most Enlightenment literature, and became notable to the Romantic
period. However, Frankenstein s strong resemblance to gothic literature, made it arguable that it
would not be considered Romantic literature. Gothic literature was also contrary to Enlightenment
literature, and strongly incorporated techniques of mystery and horror, which Frankenstein
demonstrates (Gothic fiction). Additionally, 19th century realism, a literary movement effected
Frankenstein places and events (Gilbert). Although, Frankenstein was different from the initial
structure of Romanticism, it rather reshaped it, influencing other novels that ensued. For example,

Investure, Llc, and Smith College
UVA F 1537 INVESTURE, LLC, AND SMITH COLLEGE In January 2004, Alice Handy s new
investment advisory firm, Investure, LLC, was attempting to land its first client, Smith College, an
elite liberal arts college located in Northampton, Massachusetts with a $913 million endowment.
Handy, fresh from her previous position as chief executive officer of the University of Virginia
Investment Management Company (UVIMCO), had 25 years of experience managing money and
a track record of success. Over her career, Handy had directed increasing amounts of funds to a class
of investments known as alternative assets, which included a range of investments other than
publicly traded stocks and bonds. She had also developed a philosophy about... Show more content

She also found herself involved in fundraising efforts when donations to UVa s capital campaign
involved life trusts. During the 1990s, as state support of higher education dwindled, endowment
funds took on increasing importance for UVa and other public universities. Handy s position was
restructured to enable her to dedicate more time to the investment side. The previously lowkey staff
and endowment both grew rapidly as Handy s team began conducting proprietary research. Soon
nearly a dozen investment professionals and five accounting and administrative staff members were
managing the endowment. In 2003, after 29 years with the university, Handy determined it was
time for a change. In July of that year, she announced her retirement as chief executive officer of
UVIMCO, leaving behind a healthy endowment and a strong record of performance. UVIMCO s
asset allocation had changed considerably during Handy s tenure, and the endowment had enjoyed
strong performance (Exhibits 1 and 2). UVa s endowment had generated an average annual return of
more than 13% since Handy s arrival and it had grown to almost $2 billion in market value (Exhibit
3). Through her years of service, Handy had developed an extensive list of contacts including
business leaders, asset managers, venture capitalists, and philanthropists.
Shooting Of Malala Research Paper
The shooting of Malala captured many people s attention around the world which led to Malala
gaining support. Also from celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Beyonce. There were different
viewpoints, values and perspectives towards the shooting of Malala. But for the Taliban, they saw the
shooting of Malala a warning to those who goes against them.

The Taliban follows a pure islamic ideology, but their violent actions towards others and the way
they treat women is something that Muslims don t believe in. Women in Pakistan have been treated
really terribly and their human rights have been taken away from the Taliban. For the Taliban
believes that a woman doesn t need an education because they believe that a woman belongs at
home. Which is why they don t value education for girls that much. Not only does the Taliban don t
value education for girls, but they also not value education for ALL MUSLIMS. This is because they
believe that education is the source that is brainwashing muslims from their Islamic religion.

Due to a letter from the Taliban to Malala, this letter shows the viewpoint of the ... Show more

Despite the threats that him and his daughter is getting he is still encouraging Malala to keep
going because he believes that once you start something good, don t stop. The shooting of Malala
by the two men s from the Taliban, Ziauddin s point of view towards the shooting is that he saw it
as a cowardly move from the Taliban. He believed that Taliban had no other choice to stop a girl
fighting for the rights of education for girls in Pakistan so they thought they could kill her. When
Malala was in hospital fighting for her life, Malala s father thought that he was going to lose his
daughter, but he believed that God was going to save her. And ever since that day Malala and
Ziauddin has never stopped fighting for the rights of girls. With the support of millions around the
world Malala and her father have no fear against the
Pleasantville and Back to the Future
Everything everywhere is constantly changing. People change, weather changes, plans change,
everything changes; you can t escape change. Two movies that really illustrate the concept of
change are Pleasantville and Back to the Future. In both of these movies, the main characters
Marty, David, and Jennifer are sent back into the times of the 1950s and are faced with a world
completely different from their own. In Pleasantville, David and Jennifer get stuck in David s
favourite television show Pleasantville as the characters Bud and Mary Sue. Jennifer seems to want
to stir things up, creating change throughout Pleasantville, while David is doing all he can to stop
Jennifer from destroying their perfect world. On the other hand, in Back to the Future, Marty gets
sent back in timeto when his parents were his age. Unfortunately, he runs into his parents, causing
his mother to fall for him, supposedly interfering with Marty s future. All of these main characters
have to deal with a lot of change the key concept these movies have in common. While Pleasantville
and Back to the Future both focus on the concept of time and change, both movies illustrate change
from different perspectives. These movies also have other similar concepts, such as racism and the
idea of the ideal family; however, they both differ by discussing other social issues as well. Before
traveling back in time to the 1950s, the characters in both of the movies acted very similarly. In both

Essay on Tacitus The Agricola and The Germania
Imperial Rome, during the first century A.D. was expanding it s boundaries by adding new
territories. They expanded into northern Europe and Britain and conquered or attempted to conquer
various types of people. Based on my reading of Tacitus The Agricola and The Germania, I have
knowledge of the life and customs of the Britons, subject of the Agricola, and the Germans, subject
of the Germania. This of course being the Romans, and more specifically Tacitus, observation and
view of these groups of people. The customs of the Britons differed from that of the Romans. Britain
was the largest of the islands known to the Romans, who thought of Britons as barbarians. The
physical characteristics of the Britons varied, suggesting that they... Show more content on

The Romans viewed the Britons as spiritless cowards because instead of dying for their cause and
families wives and children at home, they would run away and therefore be captured in stead of
dying for the cause. The customs of the Germans also differed from those of the Romans. Germany
contained various people and was thought of by Tacitus as indigenous with little foreign blood.
Their physical characteristics are all the same, they cannot endure hard work and tiring chores as
the Romans can. Their only form of wealth was in numbered livestock, because their lands didn t
have a lot of silver or gold. But after being exposed to the Romans, they began to value gold and
silver. Unlike the weapons of swords and lances, the Germans use spears with short and narrow
blades, javelins and shields. They don t train their horses like the Romans, for speed. Their strength
is in their infantry, not their cavalry. Their system of power and authority is quite different. For
instance, the power of the kings is not absolute, the commanders lead by example not authority, and
the priests inflict punishments. The chiefs fight for victory on the battlefield, and the followers fight
for their chiefs not themselves. Tacitus views the Germans as having a need for violence. The
women in Germania stay close their men. The men go to their mothers and wives to be treated,
encouraged and supplied with food. The

A Social Problem That Is Currently Occurring Is Rather
A social problem that is currently occurring is rather federal funding should continue to keep
Planned Parenthood open. Donald Trump has recently joined other Republicans in their vow to end
federal funding for Planned Parenthood, solely based on the idea that Planned Parenthood health
care services provide for patients to receive an abortion. The percentage of abortions that Planned
Parenthood actually does are less than 3% (Planned Parenthood Statistics). Taking funds away from
Planned Parenthood creates a problem not only in America but internationally as well. Due to the
fact that Planned Parenthood provides high quality healthcare for men, women, and young people,
and to improve sexual health and well beings in people and promotes... Show more content on

Also, people who meet immigration and citizenship requirements. The benefits that are offered are
FDA approved birth control methods, emergency contraception, and follow up care, male and female
sterilization, preconception counseling, pregnancy testing and counseling, gynecological exams
including breast exams, screening, lab testing, and etc. Planned Parenthood gives many benefits to
its patients. The benefits are delivered to patients going to the Planned Parenthood facilities and
receiving the treatments (benefits) that are needed for them. The benefits are funded by Medicaid
but do not need to be a current Medicaid patient to take part. Many people can receive the free
services with the program than other Medicaid programs. Medicaid program is jointly funded by the
federal government and states.

The current policy in this area is President Trump has signed an executive order barring federal funds
from organizations that promote abortion around the world, including International Planned
Parenthood Federation, which many say that he is showcasing his place of pro life while in office.
This current act of defunding federal funds from organizations around the world has strongly
affected Planned Parenthood and other organizations that are similar, who give equal access to
reproductive health care that they fight to protect it for everyone. The adequacy of Planned
Parenthood is that they provide emergency contraceptive to all patients and give needed resources to
