Preparation course
Introduction to VSTEP 3-5 WRITING
Duration: The total duration for the VSTEP Writing section is 60 minutes.
 Task 1: Allocate around 20 minutes.
 Task 2: Allocate around 40 minutes.

Task 1: Writing a Letter or Report


Description: to write a letter (formal or informal) or a report based on given information or scenarios.
Length: approximately 120-150 words.
Purpose: to assess the ability to organize information logically and use appropriate language and tone for the
intended purpose and audience.

Task 2: Writing an Essay


Description: to write an essay on a given topic, which may involve presenting an argument, discussing an issue,
or explaining a concept.
Length: approximately 250-300 words.
Purpose: to evaluate the ability to develop ideas coherently, use appropriate vocabulary and grammar, and
structure the essay with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
