Create an image using the following shapes.

 Motivation:
Let the children go out of the room for 5 minutes. Let
them count how many trees, stones, children, flowers and
leaves they see.

Activity 1.1 Giving Scenario

It is the first day of school in Sero Central School. Ms. Abdullah is


very excited to meet her learners in grade 2. She makes sure that
everything is ready and in order. She cleaned the room and arranged the
chairs, tables and shelves. She also arranged the books in the shelves and
she make sure that all materials needed for the opening of classes are
ready.
Let us observe her classroom.

Activity 2.1: Look at Miss Abdullah’s classroom.
Instructions:
What can you see in her classroom? _________________
How many books are in the first shelves? _____________
How many tables are in the room? ___________________
How many chairs are there in all? _____________________

Count all the books on the top of the table.
Write the number of books on the top of the table. _________

Activity 2.2: LETTER TILES

Using the letter tiles form the number names asked by the teacher

3.Abstraction
3.1: Definition of terms:
Counting Number - refers to the process of determining the
quantity of objects in a set or group. It involves assigning a number to
each object in a sequence starting from 1 and increasing by 1 for each
object.
Example:

=3 =5

Numerals- are symbols or numbers used to represent quantities or


amounts.
Example:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20…1000
How do we write numbers?
If the numbers are written in figure, it is called number symbols.

Instructions:
1. Divide the class into seven (7) groups.
2. Numbers cards are laid on the floor.
3. The teacher will say a number, pupils will pick the number cards and
form the number given by the teacher. (789,123, 989, 1000,12, etc)
4. The group with the highest score will be the winner.
Questions:
1. Was the game enjoyable?
2. What have you learned from this game?
3. To the winner, what did you do in order to win?

Activity 4.4. “FORM ME A NUMBER SYMBOL”.


Instructions:
1. Divide the class into seven (7) groups.
2. Number cards are laid down on the floor.
3. The teacher will flash a card with a number bundle.
4. The learners will form the number word that corresponds to the
number bundles shown in the pictures.
5. The group that got the highest score will be the winner.
If other groups answer first and got the correct answer, what would do
you feel?

Faith -based Integration:


God teaches us to be patient, for example whenever we fail to get
the correct answer at first try, we will try to do it again to get the
correct answer.

Attributes: Expresses one’s thoughts and feelings.


God teaches us to be happy for others’ good fortune.
