Child Behaviour Observation

Bio Data
Name L.A

Age 8

Gender Girl

A 8 years old girl named as L.A, was in 4th class. She has mild level of intellectual disability.
Session initiated with the entrance of client. It has observed that she was neat and clean and
in well pressed and proper uniform with well combed pony tail. Her way of walking showed
that child is confident not shy. She came in class room with smile on her face and showed a
healthy behaviour and positive insights that she was ready for session.
She sat on chair and said Aslam- o-Alaikum to therapist. Therapist replied Waa-Alaikum-
Salaam. How are you L.A? She replied I am fine. In this way therapist started session with
proper greetings. That showed the soft behaviour of therapist toward client. The behaviour of
therapist with client was remarkable. She was very polite and kind with client.
After that, Therapist did an assessment with her in which client was supposed to write
counting from 11 to 20. But she was showing distracted behaviour toward her assessment and
focusing on other things like colours, fan and doors. She was forgetting counting again and
again and making lame excuses that she doesn’t want to do task because of her health issues.
But she was quite healthy.
During the assessment, therapist motivated and encouraged B.K, affirming her progress with
supportive comments, like “very good, you can do it”.
Therapist showed patience on lazy behaviour of client and adapting the session to meet the
child’s pace, needs, and comfort level. Using language appropriately for the child’s
understanding and explaining activities or exercises clearly.
The behaviour of client was disappointed and distracted as she showed irritating and
irresponsible movements. Like, she said I don’t want to do task. I will do it tomorrow. I am
ill. But she was not ill. She has distracted attention span and low memory processing.
Besides this, client showed well maintained eye- hand coordination with therapist. Her social
skills was developed like she was communicating with therapist in well manners and was not
showing disrespectful behaviour. She was giving reaction on every question of therapist in
very mannerful ways. Her way of communication was verbal. Her fine and gross motor skills
were developed too. Like, she hold pencil in very proper manners and start writing in normal
ways.
Client sat in proper posture. Like, sitting with a straight back, relaxed shoulders and
maintaining eye contact. She showed positive gestures like, complement communication,
expressing openness and engagement in assessment and on communication with therapist.
She put empty packet of lays in dustbin. She was using her 5 senses to do work as she knew,
she must had to put empty packet of lays in dustbin. This behaviour, gestures and postures
showed the rapport building of client.
The entire session lasted 40 minutes. This was 5th session of client and the therapist
concluded it with a professional farewell, expressing pleasure in meeting L.A as she thanked
to the client at the end of the session. And wishing her well until their next Session.

Strength:
 The therapist started the session very politely
 The therapist completed the session in a professional manner
 And the client was understanding the therapist and engaging in understanding
behaviour.

Limitation:
 The attention span of the child was very low.
 he was not sitting quietly and ignoring the conversation
 And the kid who was there was repeatedly getting distracted by the other kids in the
class

Recommendation:
 The classes were very hot due to which the children were not studying properly.
 The school should install a cooling system in the classes so that the children can
concentrate on their studies.
 And the school should make a separate section room where they can talk to the
children properly
