4. According to a report the rare form of malignant tumour, Neuroblastoma, is occurs in 10
out of one million childrens. In the 36,000 children of Addis Ababa, 10 cases of
neuroblastoma are reported. find the probability of seeing at most five cases of
neuroblastoma in a population of this size. What you conclude from this result?
5. The Study indicated that the probability of suffering a fever from the COVID-19 vaccine
is 0.005. If 1000 people are given the vaccine, so what is the probability of
a) At most 4 person suffers a fever as a result of the vaccine?
b) More than 10 people suffer a fever as a result of the vaccine?
6. A physician wants to identify the impact of body exercise on weights of diabetic patients
and he classified patients into two groups the first group was patients who do exercise
and another who do not do. Both groups will be compared based on their death rate at the
end of the study period. The physician takes the proportion of deaths on diabetic patient
as 40% from previous study and in control it can be around 30 how much the study
subjects the researcher selects for 5% of significant level and 80% power with 1:3 of
cases to controls ratio?
7. To identify the change of fasting blood sugar level of Ten (10) type-two diabetic patients
are screened at University of Gondar medical center diabetic clinic and are given a strong
antidiabetic medication for their condition. They are asked to come back 1 week later and
have their fasting blood sugar level measured again. Suppose the initial and follow-up
FBS levels of the patients are given below.

8. An investigator wants to study the prevalence of smoking in Gondar town and he selected
1000 samples randomly and collects the data, from 1000 individuals 200 of them was
smoking cigarette. Based on this information construct the 95% confidence interval for
the true proportion of smoking in the town.
9. A study was conducted to investigate the possible cause of anemia from people following
a treatment in University of Gondar medical center. Among the 220 individuals who
smokes cigarette, 110 became ill. While, among the 40 individuals who did not smoke
cigarette, 10 became ill. Is there a significant difference between the two groups at α
=5%?
