Dual Enrollment courses provide students with 1.0 Quality Point to their GPA, and a D grade results in a 70 on the transcript with no quality points. Does DHS add any rigor points to courses that I take at a college?
Students will receive 1.0 Quality Point to their GPA when taking any Dual Enrollment course.

Do colleges prefer AP/IB or Dual Enrollment courses to display rigor?


This differs from college to college.

What happens if I receive a “D” in my Dual Enrollment course?


You will receive a 70 on your DHS transcript, and a 2.0 GPA for the course. No quality points will be given for classes
resulting in a D. If you fail the course, you will receive a failing grade on your DHS transcript.

How do Dual Enrollment courses convert to classes at Denmark?


Classes are a one-to-one switch. For example, if you take English 1101 at a college, this can count as 1 credit for
language arts at DHS.

What classes can I take the college level that will be paid for by Dual Enrollment?
The course directory is located at https://www.gafutures.org/hope-state-aid-programs/scholarships-grants/move-on-
when-ready/course-directory/ Core classes as well as programs are offered based on the college of interest.

Can I still participate in school activities if I attend college full time?


Yes, you can still participate in all school activities. If you are an athlete, you must take a minimum of 5 college classes
(2.5 credits per semester) to remain eligible to play.

Will Dual Enrollment classes count against my HOPE hours?


Courses do not count against any maximum hourly caps for the HOPE scholarships or grants.

Will transportation be provided?


No. Students must provide their own transportation.

Will my student be responsible for the End of Course (EOC) Exam?


As of November 2016, Dual Enrollment students are exempt from the following EOC’s when taken in Dual Enrollment:
American Literature, Physical Science, US History, and Economics.

How many classes must my student be enrolled in to be considered full-time?


Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 4 courses each semester to be considered full-time. Students with less than
4 classes at the college level must take additional high school courses. Students cannot enroll in more than 5 classes (15
credit hours) at the college level.

Can I participate in Dual Enrollment over the summer?


Yes, if a student enrolls in Dual Enrollment courses during the summer session, the course, grade, and credit will be
posted on the high school transcript. There is no option to deny credit.
