Individual
1. Describe the roles of project sponsor and the approval committee. What is the
purpose of the approval committee and who is usually on this committee? Do
they have an effect, and/or affect the developing team? How?

● A project sponsor is an individual or organization in charge of pushing the

project in the direction that will result in the project's successful realization
of anticipated benefits. The project sponsor manages project budgets,
approves ideas and improvements, participates in key decision-making,
takes care of engagement and communication processes, facilitates in the
creation of the initial scope and project charter, and manages stakeholder
relationships. The project approval committee (PAC) would be composed
of a group of senior staff who would be in charge of approving, prioritizing,
and allocating resources to new projects. Each PAC member can vote on
whether to go/no-go or redirect. They have an effect on the developing
team because they are the one who are on the top management. They will
be the one who will be responsible if the project will be a success or
failure.

2. Why should the system request be created by a businessperson as opposed to

an IS professional? Can it be as a basis in choosing the appropriate methodology
in the project development process? Explain.

● The system request comes from an entrepreneur or businessman/woman

because the business unit recognizes the need for the system or system
improvement. It is unlikely that the organization's IS experts will be able to
understand all of the business needs and possibilities for systems and
changes in the business units, since they are not active in those fields.

3. What are the purposes of the system request and the feasibility analysis? How
are they used in the project selection process?

● The system request is used to start a systems project. The system request
collects preliminary ideas about the system's purpose and expected
benefit to the organization. The feasibility analysis is a more in-depth
investigation of the proposed system as described in the system request.
The system analyst and the project sponsor collaborate to further improve
the system's goals and gain a better understanding of the system's
possible costs and benefits to the company. It is used to determine if the
proposed system has sufficient merit to proceed to the analysis phase.

4. Describe a “risky” project in terms of technical feasibility. Describe a project that
would be considered “risky”. How you will handle and deliver solutions to the
risks, as a PM?

● A project that is technically risky is one that is broad in scope, uses

technologies for which we have little to no experience, and is for a new
and unknown business field to the company. There are many possible
“risky” problems when it comes to project for example is the lack of project
resources, project team problems, inaccurate of time management and
budget. To handle and fix the solution from this kind of problem what it
needs is the good leadership because the team will follow the leader of
the team. Also, giving each member a task that they want will make them
enjoy and do their best to give the project a better result.
5. Car dealers have realized how profitable it can be to sell automobiles by using
the Web. Pretend that you work for a local car dealership that is part of a large
chain of car industry. Create a project management process (include the
sub-processes) that you will implement in developing such web-based system.

Case Analysis
1)
Triple Aces Corporation is interested in computer-based system particularly and
Inventory System. The corporation is capable in purchasing new software/system from
Pixies Software. The Inventory System will be used in different department and sections
of the Triple Aces Corporation. It can be accessed by multiple staff in the corporation.
Each staff can request supply and equipment from the Property Department where all
the stocks located, and the department (Property) is liable to ins and outs of the
corporation’s assets. Note that the staff are not familiar and not aware of using any
computer-based system for 15 years of existence of the corporation.
Suppose that you are the PM of the developing team of Pixies, the Triple Aces requests
you to develop an Inventory System for them. What methodology that you will be used?
As a PM, give an elaboration of the modes in classifying the system to the owner of the
corporation. Create a project plan for the said system development. As a PM, how you
will motivate, control, and direct the staff of Triple Aces to utilize the new system; and to
those who will not support the management in implementing the system?

What methodology that you will be used? As a PM, give an elaboration of the modes in
classifying the system to the owner of the corporation.

The most fit methodology must use in this situation is Waterfall This
method is moving from one phase to another, one at a time, without revisiting the
completed phases until all other phases are complete This model saves a
significant amount of time at all the phases processed and completed at a given
time. Waterfall model is very simple and easy to understand and uses
methodology. That is why it is beneficial for the beginner or novice developer.

Create a project plan for the said system development.

Stage 1: Planning
Planning with the client the first priority in the planning phase of website project
management is to define, in the clearest terms possible, what the client wants

Stage 2: Building

In the build phase of a website project, your team will likely be focused on creating the
site’s layout, content, design and functionalities.

Stage 3: Optimization

From optimizing cross-browser performance to compressing image files, this is the

phase where your team brings the website up to the highest standards it can.

Stage 4: Finalization

This phase of website project management is relatively complex. It covers the work
involved in the following processes:

Initial testing, go live, Client/Staff training, and Foundational marketing/Seo

Activities

Stage 5: Launch

The website launch and the work leading up to it can be an exciting time for a website
development team.

As a PM, how you will motivate, control, and direct the staff of Triple Aces to utilize the
new system; and to those who will not support the management in implementing the
system?
I will motivate my team by convincing them that we can finish the project, we can do the
project by helping each other, Communicate and ask them the things that giving them a
hard time, Coach them, train them. And for those who will not support the management
in implementing the system. As a Project Manager I will show to them how important
the system is, and also the benefits to the Company of this system.

2) The El-Jhay & Associates, Inc. caters different lines of business, such as academe,
manufacturing, production, etc. It is also a consulting firm for the auditing, legal
procedures, and others. It is capable to purchase, adopt and implement new technology
and IS if their own vision, mission, objectives, standards, and policies will not be
compromised. Their employees are competent and efficient in doing their jobs and
easily embrace the changes in the company.
Your job, as the developing company, is to create a system request of your proposed
system to company and present it to the project sponsor.
