STA210 SPSS Assignment

The report analyzes the contaminant levels across three factories using One Way ANOVA and normality tests. The results indicate a significant difference in mean contaminant levels among the factories, with Factory B and Factory C showing a statistically significant difference. A Tukey post hoc test further confirms the differences in mean levels between Factory B and Factory C compared to Factory A.

REPORT TITLE: STATISTIC INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT

DUE DATE: 21 JUNE 2024

JAZMINA BINTI MAT TAHIR 2022829044 RCDCS1434A
Solution:
Dependent variables: Contaminant Level
Independent variables: 3 Groups (Factory A, Factory B and factory C)
Observation: Independent sample
Method that possibility used either One Way ANOVA or Kruskal Wallis test.
Distribution of data: Test of normality (Using Kolmogorov – Smirnov & Shapiro)
Normality Test:

Tests of Normality
Kolmogorov-Smirnova Shapiro-Wilk
Factory Statistic df Sig. Statistic df Sig.
Contaminant_Lvl Factory A .194 10 .200* .922 10 .378
Factory B .170 10 .200* .890 10 .170
Factory C .167 10 .200* .937 10 .516
*. This is a lower bound of the true significance.
a. Lilliefors Significance Correction

Use Shapiro-Walk because the sample size is less than 50. All p-values factory are greater
than alpha α which is 0.05. Thus, this sample is normal distribution.

One Way ANOVA:

P-value are greater than α. So, the variances are equal.

The hypothesis that wants to be evaluated are:

H₀: 𝜇₁ = 𝜇₂ = 𝜇₃
H₁: at least one mean is different than others.
Decision rule: Reject H₀ if p-value ≤ α.
Do not reject H₀ if p-value > α.
Decision: Since p-value = 0.040 < 0.05, reject H₀. The test is significant different.
Conclusion: There is a significant difference on the mean contaminant level among three
factories.
Thus: The average of contaminant level of Factory A, Factory B and Factory C are unequal.
The post hoc test:

Multiple Comparisons
Dependent Variable: Contaminant_Lvl
Tukey HSD
Mean Difference 95% Confidence Interval
(I) Factory (J) Factory (I-J) Std. Error Sig. Lower Bound Upper Bound
Factory A Factory B 9.600 4.772 .129 -2.23 21.43
Factory C -2.600 4.772 .850 -14.43 9.23
Factory B Factory A -9.600 4.772 .129 -21.43 2.23
Factory C -12.200* 4.772 .042 -24.03 -.37
Factory C Factory A 2.600 4.772 .850 -9.23 14.43
Factory B 12.200* 4.772 .042 .37 24.03
*. The mean difference is significant at the 0.05 level.

Based on the p-values obtained for both test, Factory B and Factory C haver a significantly
different in the mean of contaminant level.

General Conclusion:
There was a statistically significant difference on the mean contaminant level between
three factory as determined by one-way ANOVA (F(2,27) = 3.627, p = 0.040). A Tukey post
hoc test revealed that the mean contaminant level was statistically significantly difference
between the Factory B (75.80 ± 6.391, p= 0.170) and Factory C (88.00 ± 11.585, p= 0.516)
compared with Factory A (85.40 ± 12.903, p= 0.378).
