3.6 Cleaning Pistol
Hand-held pistol with 5 m high-pressure hose and with quick-action coupling for easy
interchange of cleaning lances. The cleaning lances are provided with a firmly secured
spray jet at the end, lances with different jets being available to produce a spray profile to
suit the particular application.
In its basic version the cleaning unit is supplied with a cleaning lance with a flat-profile
spray jet and another lance with a rotary spray jet.
a) The flat-profile spray jet is suitable for most general applications, particularly for the
internal and external cleaning of star-pleated elements, basket elements and ring-
type elements. In addition, the individual multi-mantle elements can be cleaned
externally with this jet.
b) The rotary jet is ideally suited to the cleaning of push-in and screw-in mesh candles,
particularly where stubborn contaminants are involved, e.g. with filters used for fule
oil and rolling oil.
Capacities:
Spraying Tank
Soaking Tank to max. level Total
Check whether the valve on the inlet side of the pump protection filter is open. The hand
lever should be pointing downwards.
Switch on pump.
The pump draws in cleaning liquid from the spraying tank and fills the super-fine filter on
the pump delivery side. Loosen the vent screw on the cover of the super-fine filter. As soon
as liquid is released, switch off pump and tighten vent screw.
The oil should be changed after the first 50 operating hours and subsequently every
200 hours approximately.
Once the layer of contamination has been released, the element or insert should be placed
on the perforated base of the spraying tank with the open side pointing downwards. This
permits the released contaminants to drop down and out of the element. The level of the
liquid should be below the perforated base since its purpose is to reduce atomisation of the
cleaning liquid to a minimum during the spraying process. Surplus liquid is then removed by
pumping it via the hand pistol back to the soaking tank until the perforated base is clear of
the liquid.
The contaminated element is then cleaned from the outside towards the inside by washing
it all round with the hand pistol and cleaning lance. The liquid required for washing is itself
continuously cleaned via the super-fine filter and continuously recycled. Correct and careful
handling will ensure that the released contaminants are kept free of the clean side of the
element. After cleaning the elements should be placed (always with the opening pointing
downwards) in such a way as to enable them to drain off subsequent to which they can be
further dried with compressed air if required. Range of suitable jets see chapter 3.6

10. Service-Information
Problems arising in the cleaning of filter elements
- Damage to the mesh caused by being exposed to sharp corners or the use of hard
tools (e.g. wire brushes).
When the filter inserts are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath the following should be
taken into consideration:
- In the ultrasonic bath an insert should not be laid on top of another
- Inserts with a mesh of 10 µ (660/63) cannot be used. Even a short-term ultrasonic
bath damages the mesh
- With all other meshes a duration of 24 hours in the ultrasonic bath should not be
exceeded
The total time of all ultrasonic baths should not exceed 24 hours
as damages to the mesh are possible.
BOLL & KIRCH assumes no liability for any mistakes due to misuse of the product.
