Sectionlll: HAZARDIDENTIFICATION
Emergency Overview:
Product may be irritating to eyes and respiratory hact. High airborne dust concentrations may pose an explosive
hazard. Wet activated carbon present in a confined space may produce oxygen deficient atmosphere and
presents risk of asphyxiation to persons to persons enlering those areas.
Eye Contact:
Contact may produce mechanical eye irritation
Skin Contact:
Product is not a primary skin irritant. The primary skin irritalion index (Rabbit) is O.
lnhalation (Breathing):
Product is praclically non{oxicthrough inhalation. Over exposed to dust may produce initation ofthe respiratory
system.
lngestion (Swallowing):
Product is non-toxic through ingestion. The acute oral LD50 (Rat) is > 109 / kg
Chronic Effects:
Carcinogenicity: NTP: N/A IARC: N/A OSHA Regulated: No

SCCIiON IV: FIRST AID MEASURES
Eye Contact:
Use copious amounts of water to flush at least 10 minutes. lf irritation occurs, seek medical attention
Skin Contact:
Use soap and water to wash material off the skin and seek medical attention if irritalion occurs.
lnhalation (Breathing):
Overexposure to dust may produce irritation of the respiratory system. lf irritation occurs, move to fresh air and
if cough or respiratory symptoms develop, seek medical attention.
Ingestion (Swallowing):
Drink one or two glasses ofwater. lf gastrointestinal symptoms develop, seek medical attenlion-
Note to Physician:
This product in solution, if aspirated into lungs, may cause chemical pneumonias.
Chronic and Sub-chronic Effects:
The effect of long term, low-level exposures to this product have not been determined. Safe handling of this
material on a long term basis should emphasize the avoidance of repetitive acute exposure.
Section V: I FIRE and EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA
Flash Point: N/A Lower Flammable Limit: N/A Upper Flammable Limit: N/A
Extinguishing Media:
Dry chemical foam, CO2, water fog
Firefi ghting Equipment / Procedures:
Fire ,ighters should wear full protective gear including self-contained breathing apparatus.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards:
Contac{ with strong oxidizers such as ozone, liquid oxygen, chlorine, permanganate, etc. may result in tire.
Accumulation of airborne dust may present an explosion or fire hazard in the presence of an ignition source
General Hazard:
It is difficult to ignite activated carbon and it tends to burn slowly (smoulder) without producing smoke or flame.
Hazardous Combustion Products:
On combustion this product may emit monoxide, carbon dioxide, and / or low molecular weight hydrocarbons.
Other materials absorbed onto the carbon may also be released during combustion.

Section Vl: HANDLING AND STOBAGE
Storage Temperature: Ambient Storage Pressure: Almospheric
Handling Procedures:
Good handling and housekeeping practices should be followed to minimize spills, generation of airborne dust,
and accumulation of dust on exposed surfaces. Adequate exhaust ventilation is recommended to draw dust
away from workers' breathing zones. Appropriate respirators, gloves and eye protection are recommended to
prevent or minimize exposures to dusts. Use soap and water after handling to wash exposed skin areas
thoroughly.
Storage Procedures:
Storage products in a closed dry container. Follow good housekeeping procedures. Keep away from strong
oxidizers such as ozone, liquid oxygen, chlorine, permanganale, etc.
Other Precautions:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Exercise caution in the storage and handling of all chemical substances.
