Page 3: About the Author
Jonathan Swift was born in 1667 in Dublin, Ireland. He was a famous writer, satirist, and also
worked as a priest in the Church of Ireland. Swift was a very smart man who wrote about problems
in society and politics in a funny and clever way. He used humor to show what was wrong in the
world.
His best-known book is Gulliver's Travels, which has been read by people all over the world for
many years. He also wrote A Modest Proposal, a strong and shocking piece of writing to criticize
how poor people were treated. Swift died in 1745, but his books are still read today because of the
messages they give.
Page 4: Overview / Plot Summary
The book is about Lemuel Gulliver, a man who works on ships. During his travels, his ships are
often wrecked, and he ends up in very strange places. In the first part of the book, he reaches
Lilliput, where the people are only six inches tall. Everything is tiny there, including their houses,
animals, and food. Gulliver becomes a giant in their world.
Later, he travels to Brobdingnag, where the people are huge, and Gulliver feels very small. He also
visits other strange lands in the full book, but Volume One mainly focuses on these two.
The main theme of the story is to show how people behave differently in different societies. The
book makes fun of things like politics, war, pride, and silly rules. Even though the places are
imaginary, the author uses them to show real problems in our world.
Page 5: My Favourite Chapter / Part
My favorite part of the book is when Gulliver is in Lilliput. I really liked the part where he wakes up
and finds himself tied down by tiny ropes, and little people are walking on him. It was funny and also
exciting. The way the Lilliputians behave with Gulliver shows how people sometimes try to control
others, even when they are not strong.
Another part I liked was when Gulliver helps the Lilliputians by stealing the enemy's ships. He
becomes a hero, but soon they turn against him. This shows how people can change quickly based
on power and fear.
I liked this chapter because it had action, funny scenes, and a strong message about how people in
power behave. It also made me think about how we treat people who are different from us.
Page 6: Main Characters
Lemuel Gulliver - He is the main character of the story. He is a doctor who loves to travel. He is kind,
clever, and tries to understand every new place he visits. He does not fight unless needed and
always tries to help others.
The Emperor of Lilliput - He is proud and wants power. He uses Gulliver to fight wars and do things
for his kingdom. Later, he becomes angry with Gulliver and wants to punish him. This shows how
some leaders care only about their own power.
The King of Brobdingnag - He is a wise and kind ruler. He asks Gulliver many questions about his
country and is shocked by the bad things people do. He thinks Gulliver's country is full of foolish
people. He teaches Gulliver (and the readers) to think more deeply.
The characters in this book are interesting and help us understand how people act in real life. They
are not just part of a fantasy-they represent real people in our world.
Page 7: Conclusion and Rating
Gulliver's Travels is a book that mixes fun and learning. The story is full of imagination, but it also
teaches us about human nature and society. It tells us that sometimes people fight over small
things, care too much about power, and forget what is truly important.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had strange places, funny people, and strong lessons. The
writing was a little old, but it was not too hard to understand. I would recommend this book to
anyone who likes stories with adventure, fantasy, and meaning.
