More About Light Questions

The document outlines a lesson plan focused on the properties of light, including laws of reflection, refraction, and the structure and defects of the human eye. It includes objectives for explaining concepts, comparing phenomena, and evaluating eye care, along with exercises for different levels of understanding. The integration of mathematics is also highlighted through practical applications involving angles and distances related to mirrors.

Topic: More about light

Lesson Objectives:
A. To explain the laws of reflection and their different types and their real-life
applications.
B. To compare and contrast reflection and refraction of light.
C. To analyze the structure of the human eye and state its functions.
D. Evaluate the defects of the human eye and their correction.
Level 1:
1. State the laws of reflection of light and explain it with the help of diagram.
2. Explain the characteristics of an image formed by a plane mirror.
3. Describe the construction and working of any two optical device which
work on the principle of multiple reflection.
4. Discuss the refraction of light when it enters from
i) Rarer to denser medium
ii) Denser to rarer medium.
5. Explain the formation of spectrum when a white light passes through prism.
6. With the help of ray diagrams explain the causes and correction of defects
of eye.
7. List five ways by which we can take care of our eyes.

Level 2:
1. Give reasons:
a. An object seen through a prism appears coloured.
b. We are not able to see clearly for some time when we go from bright
sunlight to a dark room.
c. It is very useful to us that all surfaces do not give regular reflection.
2. Distinguish between:
a. Myopia and hypermetropia
b. Refraction and dispersion of light
3. Hitesh went to an exhibition and saw a stall marked laughing room. When he
entered, he found that the stall had a number of mirrors on all four sides. As
people entered and saw their own images, they had fits of laughter because
their images looked amusingly distorted. Why did the mirrors produce such
distorted images?
4. Calculate the number of images formed if the angle between two mirrors is
a. 40° b. 45° c. 60°.

Level 3:
1. If an incident ray makes an angle of 40° with the mirror, then what is the
angle between incident ray and reflected ray?
2. If the angle between incident ray and reflected ray is 70°, then what is the
angle of reflection?
3. While making a kaleidoscope, if you want to increase the number and
intricacies of designs formed, what would you do?

Subject integration: Mathematics

A board with the word MIRROR written on it is placed 3 m in front of a plane
mirror.
•If the angle of incidence of an incident ray falling on the plane mirror is 35°,
what will be angle between the incident and the reflected rays?
•What will be the distance of the word MIRROR written on the board from its
image inside the plane mirror?
