1 Communication Drivers
In this manual you can find an USB- and a network installation guide for communication driver units. Please
follow the quick steps to install the USB- and network drivers.
• Click “Next”
• Click “Finish”, connect the USB cable from your EDC to the PC and wait until the installation of the USB
drivers is completed.
• After the drivers are installed correctly the EDC will be shown as a “USB Serial Port” device in the Device
Manager.
• Connect the USB cable from your PC with the EDC and wait until the installation of the USB drivers is
completed. Then check if the EDC shows up in the device manager.
• Under Devices, right-click the icon for the computer, and then click Device installation settings.
• After successfully installing the driver, the EDC appears in Universal Serial Bus Controllers section in
the Device Manager
• Press the Remove Devices Button. After removing the driver the uninstaller will report success:
• For more details refer to the readme.html file in the CMDUninstallerGUI directory.
Note: Under Windows 7 and above you should run the uninstaller with administrator rights.
Note: Never install USB drivers of different versions on the same machine. This would lead to unpredictable
results.
Note: This step is only necessary for EDCs with old EDC USB data (delivered before January 2023) used with
new standard WHQL Certified FTDI driver.
To update the EDC USB data the software tool “EdcUsbTool“, which is included in the driver package, can be
used. This program is a portable version and doesn’t need to be installed. Nevertheless, it is necessary to install
the signed Windows 8, 8.1 USB driver according to chapter 2.2. and to deactivate the “Memory integrity” in the
Windows security settings. After successful installation of the driver please follow the steps below.
• Connect all EDCs to be updated via USB to the PC
• Make sure the EDCs show up as “DOLI EDC” in the Device Manager.
• Click the button “Scan USB EDC”. Then all EDCs connected via USB will show up in the list. EDCs with the
old PID-number (EF63) will show up as “Old EDC USB Data” and EDCs with new PID-number will show up
as “New EDC USB Data”.
• Check the EDCs you want to update and click the button “Update Old EDC USB Data”.
Only Old EDC USB Data can be updated.
• Confirm the window with “Yes”. The updated USB Data will be downloaded to the EDC USB-controller.
Afterwards the EDCs will show up as “New EDC USB Data”
• After updating the EDC USB data, the USB cable of the EDCs must be unplugged and the old driver has to
be uninstalled as described in chapter 2.4
• Now the EDC can be handled as a EDC with new USB data. And the standard USB driver installation
procedure as described in chapter 2.1 can be applied.
Note: Make sure that the USB cable is connected from the EDC to the PC and the EDC is in PC-CONTROL
mode
• Start the DOLI Installation Center and press “Scan USB/LAN”. The EDC should be listed in the dialog
.
3 LAN
3.1 LAN driver installation for Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11
Note: Please make sure that your computer has installed a dedicated network card which can be used
exclusively for communication with DOLI devices.
• Uninstall any previously installed versions of WinPcap from
Start → Apps and Features
• Start your PC and right click on the network icon in the system tray.
Select “Open Network and Sharing Center“.
• Remove all check marks in this dialog and confirm with OK.
• Select the ‘Automatically start the WinPcap driver at boot time’. This installs WinPcap for all users.
Use a Crossover LAN cable. Normal patch cables may not work with older Network Interface
Cards for point to point PC / EDC connections.
Note: Make sure that the network cable is connected from the EDC to the PC and the EDC is in PC-CONTROL
mode
• Start the DOLI Installation Center and press “Scan USB/LAN”. The EDC should be listed in the dialog.
