Quantitative adjectives are adjectives that modifies a noun by indicating any number or any quantity of
countable or uncountable nouns. They are named as quantitative which means quantity of something but
sometimes they denote number also. (Please note: limiting adjectives are any adjective that limit or restrict the
noun or pronoun rather than giving quality or trait. Limiting adjective is an umbrella term, whereas quantitative
adjective is a type of limiting adjective).
Different types of Quantitative Adjective
Quantitative adjectives are basically of three types :
a) Definite Numerical Adjective
b) Indefinite Numerical Adjective
c) Distributive Numerical Adjective
Definite Numerical Adjective
Definite means which is fixed like one, first, last, etc. and numerical means which tells the numbers. These
types of adjectives are used to define countable noun.
These are basically of two types :
a) Cardinal number: These are the ones which tells the definite number of nouns like
Eg. One, two, three, four, etc.
Example sentence: There are four members in a committee.
Four is a cardinal.
b) Ordinal number: These are the ones which tells about noun in a set or number of other nouns.
Eg. First, second, third, last, etc.
Example sentence: This was the first person who submitted the report.
First is an ordinal.
Indefinite Numeral Adjective
These are the ones which quantifies nouns that are not fixed or countable.
Examples: some, enough, all, many, few, little, whole, most, more, etc.

Distributive Numerical Adjective
It includes each, either, neither, every, all, etc.
1. Every candidate ought to share his test paper.
2. Every trainee should be very careful while attending the training session.
