Match. (50 points)
Answer:
Rule 1: Facility

and cigarettes are not permitted.
Rule 2: Player Eligibility
All games will be held on the Field House's Main Deck. Inside the institution, alcohol
and cigarettes are not permitted.
Rule 3: Format
Badminton is played in a "match" tournament style, which means that players are
paired with an opponent for the first round. Before moving on to the next round of the event,
players will have one week to complete their matches. The bracket will be updated the day
after each round's deadline. Each player that advances in the event is responsible for setting
up the day and time for the following round. To simplify communication for future matches,
IMLeagues.com will give contact information for your next opponent.
Rule 4: Toss
1. Before commencing play, the opponents shall toss a coin and the person the
toss shall have the option of:
o serving first,
o not serving first, or
o choosing ends
2. The individual who loses the toss has the option of choosing any of the remaining
options. After games one and two, the ends are switched. If a third game is required,
the ends are switched in the middle of the game after one player has scored 11
points.
Rule 5: Scoring System
1. A match comprises of three best-of-three games with a total score of 21 points.
2. At 20 points apiece, the first team to acquire a two-point advantage wins the
game.
3. At 29 points each, the team that scores the 30th point wins the game.
4. In the following game, the team that wins the previous game serves first.
5. Unless the point is replayed, a point will be scored every time a serve is made.
6. There is a two-minute pause between each game.
7. If necessary, players may take a 60-second break when the leading score exceeds
11 points.
Rule 6: Singles Play
1. The server serves from the right service court at the start of the game (0-0) and when
the server's score is equal. The server serves from the left service court when his or her
score is odd.
2. If the server wins a rally, he or she receives a point and then returns to the alternate
service court to serve again.
3. If the receiver wins a rally, he or she receives a point and takes over as the server. If his
or her score is odd, he or she serves from the left service court, and if it is even, he or
she serves from the right service court.
Rule 7: Faults
1. The shuttlecock is struck above the server's waist during serving.
2. If the shuttlecock lands into the wrong receiving court during the serve.
3. If the server's and receiver's feet are not within the serving and receiving courts'
respective limits.
4. If a player's racquet, person, or clothing comes into contact with the net.
5. If the shuttlecock is struck before it has crossed the net to his or her side, the
game is over. (The net's plane may be broken by the follow-through.)
Rule 8: General Rules
1. You should not serve until your opponent is ready, but if he or she attempts to
return the serve, it is assumed that he or she is ready, and play proceeds.
2. If you miss the shuttlecock when serving, you may serve again as long as your
racquet does not make touch with the shuttlecock during the attempt.
3. Birdies that cross the net when playing are nice and should be played.
4. If the shuttle hits the net during serving, it is a "let" if the service is otherwise
satisfactory and the birdie is served again.
5. Birdies that land on the line are regarded as excellent.
Activity #3. Discuss briefly the rules and regulation for badminton in a Doubles’
Match. (50 points)
Answer:
1. Before the Game
A coin toss determines who serves first and who receives first before the doubles
match begins. The option is made by the winner of the coin toss. For partnered players, one
team member should be selected as captain. The captain is the player who can speak with the
referees about ruling questions and interpretations.
2. Badminton Doubles Service Rules
For doubles games, the first serve should always come from the right service court. As a
result, the game's first serve is delivered from the right service court. In a diagonal path
opposite to you, you should play it to your opponent. This signifies it will be received in the
service court on the diagonal right. When the server's score is 0 or an even number, this is
true for all serves. If your opponent's partner touches or strikes the shuttle, you will be
penalized one point.
3. Alternating Service
In the same game, no player may receive two consecutive services. As long as the
original server wins points, serving rotates between the right and left court stations. If the
serving team loses a point, the opposite side gains the right to serve. Once the first team
regains the service advantage, the second player on the first team serves.
4. Badminton Doubles Court
The team that serves the shuttle is known as the server, while the other team is known as
the receiver. The serve is made from the left service side of the badminton doubles court
when the server's score is odd. It is received at the service court on the diagonal left. To
account for partnered players, badminton court dimensions are somewhat larger and broader
during a game of doubles.
5. Doubles Badminton General Play
Following a return of the original serve, any player may hit the shuttle from
any section of the court. Only one player per team is allowed to hit the shuttle
with a single hit in order to pass it over the net. Even if the shuttle contacts the
net, badminton regulations deem it in play. However, this is only true if the
'birdie' crosses across to the opposite side. Shuttles landing on boundary lines
are considered 'good' and in-bounds, according to the rules. Each side is allowed
one 60-second timeout every game.
6. Badminton Doubles Rules for Faults
During the serve:
o The server makes contact with the shuttle above the serving hand (or the
racquet head is above).
o The shuttle does not fall within the boundaries of the diagonal service court.
o The feet of the server and receiver are not within the boundaries and on the
floor of their respective service courts.
o Feet in contact with boundary lines get considered as out-of-bounds.
o A player feints or balks the opponent.
During the service or rally:
o The shuttle makes contact with the walls, player, clothing, or ceiling.
o It fails to pass over the net.
o Any time it passes through or under the net.
o If the shuttlecock does not fall within the court regulation boundaries.
A player reaches across the net to contact the shuttle (except on follow-through).
A player's body, clothing, or racket touches the net or net support posts.
The shuttle gets hit more than once in succession by a single player.
The shuttle gets caught or carried when struck.
A player obstructs an opponent or invades the opponent’s court.
*Racket rim badminton shots and striking the feathers of the shuttle are legal. That is
providing no catching or carrying occurs.
7. Doubles Badminton Rules for 'Let'
If a 'let' gets called, play gets repeated and there is no change in the
previous score. 'Badminton lets' will get allowed if:
The receiver is not ready to receive the serve.
A shuttle passes over the net and gets caught in or on the net (except
during service).
8. Badminton Doubles Scoring System
Only the serving team may score points in badminton rules doubles. To score, the
opposing side must first win the serve.
9. Substitutions in Badminton Double Rules
A doubles team may only make replacements between games unless they are injured.
This decision is made as part of the umpire's duties while officiating the game.
10. Winning Badminton Rules Doubles
The winning team in badminton doubles is the first to 15 points, according to the
fundamental regulations. In doubles badminton rules and regulations, a two-point advantage
is not required to win the game.
