Language learning

It is crucial, especially nowadays, to learn new languages. Knowing a second language can
benefit us greatly. I’ve had the opportunity to be able to English for as long as I can
remember. This has given me a great advantage when traveling, communicating with people
from other places and making friends. Also, it is vital for life opportunities to stand out from
the rest. For example, if you’re planning on hiring someone, who would you choose?
Someone who is only able to dominate one language or someone who can speak four
languages natively?

Firstly I would like to talk about my experience learning English. I’ve been studying English
for as long as I can remember. Since the age of two, I’ve been learning English at a British
school called Oak House School. Then at the age of thirteen I moved to an international
school. Currently I’m studying to be able to take the Proficiency exam next year. Also, I’ve
always had a lot of international influence in my daily life due to the fact that my dad comes
from Denmark. Moreover, I’ve travelled a lot throughout my life, that's why I’ve been able to
put my knowledge to practice.

Secondly, in my opinion, the best way of learning a new language is by practicing and
practicing. It is very obvious that to be able to practice you first have to study the language.
But the problem of many people is that they are able to learn a new language but they forget
it. This happens because you need to make an effort in keeping in contact with the
language, not only whilst learning it but after. A great way is by watching TV series in this
language, reading books, speaking with native speakers and traveling.

In conclusion, languages are key in our life. There are many ways of learning it but the most
important is keeping in contact with it. Also, language learning enriches our general
knowledge and makes us stand out from the rest. Language makes us the people we are.
