Before creating an amazon listing you should have the following list of details prepared.
Once you have this information
you can begin creating your listing.
1. On the seller central home page, you will see the first tab, catalogue. Click here and select add products.
2. Next, choose between a new product or one already being sold on Amazon. Unless the account is a reseller, you
will usually click “I’m adding a product not sold on Amazon”
3. Next you must select a category for your product. This goes from general category to specific.
4. Once you have your category all selected, you must select the option closest to your product.
5. Once you have selected your product category you can begin to add the details to the listing. (All categories in
red or with a red exclamation mark are required)
a. For adding additional information such as keywords, dimensions, ingredients etc., you can turn on
advanced view.
6. Starting with Vital Info you will need to input the following categories: Product ID, Type, Product Name, Brand
Name, Unit Count.
a. For Product ID and Type, this can a UPC (unique product code) or a EAN (a manufacturers barcode
number). Unit Count refers to how many items are in each pack (3 pack, 4 pack, single item, etc.)
7. Under the Offer category you will need to input the price of your item and where the item comes from. Unless
the seller Provides an SKU create one that will make it easy for you to identify the product in inventory (ex.
Cheese-3PK. FBA)
a. Also here is where you select either FBM(fulfilled by merchant) or FBA(fulfilled by Amazon) according to
what the client wishes
8. While images are not needed to create a listing, the listing won’t be active until you do add pictures. Having
more pictures, particularly good quality ones, makes your item more sellable, so upload multiple.
a. Pictures have to follow these strict guidelines to be acceptable.
9. Under description you can write a general description of the main features of the product in the Product
description box.
a. Key Product Features are more visible on the Amazon page than the Product Description so make sure
to add several important details about the product to catch the customers eye. (ex. Gluten free, no
animal testing, alcohol free etc.)
10. Under the More details tab, you will add the following information as seen in the picture below.
a. The ‘Contains Liquid Contents’ and ‘Is Heat Sensitive’ boxes are yes or no boxes
b. The Form Factor box is specific for electronic devices, all other items can have N/A
11. Once all these boxes on each tab are filled out you can click save and finish. And you’re done!
