Japan CPI inflation hits 2-yr high in Jan, points to more BOJ rate hikes
Japanese consumer price index inflation grew more than expected in January amid robust consumer spending,
pointing to a hawkish outlook for the Bank of Japan in its plans for more interest rate hikes. Headline national CPI
surged to a two-year high of 4.0% year-on-year in January from 3.6% in the prior month, government data showed.

US labor market stable; hit from federal government belt tightening awaited
The number of Americans filing new applications for unemployment benefits increased moderately last week,

pursued by Republican President Donald Trump's administration impacting the economy.

U.S. crude oil inventories surpass forecasts, indicating weaker demand

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) has released its latest report on the U.S. Crude Oil Inventories, revealing a
significant increase in the number of barrels of commercial crude oil held by U.S. firms.

The actual number of inventories has reached 4.633 million barrels, which is noticeably higher than the forecasted
figure of 3.2 million barrels. This unexpected surge suggests a weaker demand for crude oil and is considered bearish
for crude prices, according to the EIA's guidelines.

Comparing the actual number to the previous figure, the inventories have also seen an increase. The previous report
recorded 4.070 million barrels, indicating a rise of 563,000 barrels in the current report.

Weekly initial jobless claims inch up to 219,000

The number of Americans filing for first-time unemployment benefits ticked up last week, although the figure
remained in a range that indicated ongoing resilience in the U.S. labor market. Initial jobless claims came in at 219,000
for the week ended on February 15, increasing from an upwardly-revised level of 214,000 in the prior week, according
to Labor Department data on Thursday. Economists had seen the figure at 215,000. The four-week moving average,
which aims to account for volatility in the weekly number, edged down by 1,000 to 215,250.

Emerging Market Demand is Driving the Gold Prices Higher

Observation:
 India and China have significantly increased their gold reserves in recent years, contributing to
the surge in global gold prices. India and China hold nearly $140 billion worth of gold in their
reserves, which has played a key role in driving the price of gold to record levels. As of recent
figures, India's gold reserves are valued at around $60 billion, while China holds a comparable
amount. This massive accumulation by both countries is part of their strategy to diversify
away from the US dollar and enhance financial stability, especially in the face of global
economic uncertainties.
