LIORA SWEATER

by Valentina Bogdanova

Liora is a seamless top-down sweater with round yoke made in the very beautiful
Malabrigo Arroyo yarn. The eye-catcher of this sweater is the complicated-looking but
easy to make lace pattern on the yoke, while the rest is made in stockinette.
The picture shows size S.

PATTERN NOTES:
• I strongly recommend swatching for the lace pattern and if you notice that it is looser than the stockinette stitch, please use
smaller needles for working the lace section of your sweater!
• The sweater is worked in one piece top down. You start with 10 rounds of neck band/ribbing, then work neck shaping with
short rows and then continue working in the round. After the round yoke, you separate the sleeves and the body and continue
working them separately.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
* basics (cast on/bind off, knit/purl, increase/decrease)
* short rows
* working in the round
* working from a chart

ABBREVIATIONS:

PATTERN STITCHES:
1x1 Ribbing in the round:
RND 1: *k1tbl, p1; rep from * to end of RND.
Rep RND 1 for 1x1 Ribbing in the round

1x1 Ribbing worked flat:

RND 1: *k1tbl, p1; rep from * to end of RND.
RND 2: *k1, p1tbl; rep from * to end of RND.
Rep RNDs 1 and 2 for 1x1 Ribbing worked flat

INSTRUCTIONS:

Section 1: CO and Neck Shaping

With smaller needles, using long tail method, CO 121 (121, 141,
161, 161) sts. Join in the round being careful not to twist. In order to
have a jogless connection, before working the 1st RND, slip the last
stitch from the right needle over the first stitch on the left needle, p1
and slip the first stitch off the needle (1 st decreased, 120 (120, 140,
160, 160) sts). PMM for BOR (center back).

Neck ribbing:
RND 1: *k1tbl, p1; rep from * to end of RND.
Rep RND 1 eight times more for a total of nine RNDs.

FOR SIZE XXL ONLY: *(k1tbl, p1) 7 times, M3, p1; rep from * to end of RND (20 sts increased, 180 sts).

NEXT RND FOR ALL SIZES EXCEPT XS: *(k1tbl, p1) 5 times, PCM; rep to end of RND.

Switch to larger needles and continue as follows:

FOR SIZES S, M, L/XL and XXL: work 1st RND of CHART.

FOR SIZE XS: rep RND 1 once more.

You have 120 (144, 168, 192, 216) sts on your needles.

Shaping neck using short rows (NOTE: I used the YO Short Row method; you can either use the same method or German Short
Rows (GSR), Wind & Turn (W&T), or any other method you prefer. When using GSR or W&T method, add 1 stitch to the given
stitch numbers on RS and deduct 1 stitch from the given stitch numbers on WS (“double” stitch in GSR and Wrapped stitch in
W&T should always be a purl stitch when looking from the RS)):

SR 1 (RS): work 1x1 Ribbing over 45 (55, 65, 75, 85) sts, turn.
SR 2 (WS): YO, work 1x1 Ribbing to MM, SLMM, work 1x1 Ribbing over 44 (54, 64, 74, 84) sts, turn.
SR 3: YO, work 1x1 Ribbing to MM, SLMM, work 1x1 Ribbing over 37 (45, 53, 61, 69) sts, turn.
SR 4: YO, work 1x1 Ribbing to MM, SLMM, work 1x1 Ribbing over 36 (44, 52, 60, 68) sts, turn.

SR 9: YO, work 1x1 Ribbing to MM, SLMM, work 1x1 Ribbing over 13 (15, 17, 19, 21) sts, turn.
SR 10: YO, work 1x1 Ribbing to MM, SLMM, work 1x1 Ribbing over 12 (14, 16, 18, 20) sts, turn.
Now you continue working in the round:
Next RND: YO, work 1x1 Ribbing to MM, SLMM, work RND 2 of CHART (all sizes), and at the same time work YO as p2tog with
