Narrative Report on the Integration of Subjects in the Daily Lesson Log
We, educators of Bugtongnapulo Elementary School have adopted an interdisciplinary approach to
lesson planning since we are committed to enhancing the quality of education through innovative teaching
strategies. This strategy allows young learners to develop a deeper understanding of lessons by making
meaningful connections across different disciplines and they were exposed to a more comprehensive
learning experience.
The integration of subjects in the Daily Lesson Log (DLL) is a pedagogical approach that connects
different disciplines to create a more cohesive learning experience. By interweaving various subject areas,
students gain a deeper understanding of concepts and develop critical thinking skills. This approach aligns
with modern educational strategies that emphasize interdisciplinary learning to prepare students for real-
world applications.
The said integration of subjects involves careful lesson planning to incorporate multiple disciplines
into daily instruction. So, we align competencies from different subject areas, ensuring that lessons reinforce
and complement each other. For example, a lesson in English can incorporate historical events from Araling
Panlipunan or apply mathematical concepts in science experiments. Another notable example is pupils
attending Filipino and Values Education are going to analyzed literary pieces that emphasized Filipino moral
values, fostering both language skills and character development. The said interdisciplinary approach helps
learners see the connections between subjects, promoting holistic learning.
At the end of the day, we found out that the implementation of subject integration has resulted in
several positive outcomes. It increased pupils’ engagement, wherein lessons became more interactive and
relatable, encouraging active participation. It also enhanced critical thinking. Pupils developed problem-
solving skills by analyzing topics from multiple perspectives. Moreover, it also improved knowledge
retention in which interdisciplinary learning made it easier for pupils to understand and apply concepts in
real-life situations. Moreover, efficient use of instructional time was also established through combining
subjects which allowed teachers to cover more topics without redundancy. Our school has significantly
improved our learners’ learning experiences. Through collaborative efforts, we teachers have successfully
created a more engaging and effective learning environment.
