My name is NIEVELI H. BAYANI, 39 years old. My passion and
commitment to my profession lead me to reach 15 years in service. It
seems like a long time–and it indeed is, but I still enjoy my time in the
classroom teaching learners with learning challenges and special needs.
Throughout my career, being energetic, enthusiastic, creative, and
resourceful are the qualities that I possess, and having good classroom
management skills made me an effective and efficient teacher. And how
do I do that? First, I establish a positive learning environment for my
students, where routines, procedures, and rules are part of our daily
activities. Since I am teaching learners with special needs, particularly
children with autism having good classroom routines is vital. Also, I usually
use a visual schedule to help me manage their behavior, a set of rules
help a lot, such as quiet hands and feet, waiting time, and looking eyes,
which work great for my students.
The best way to learn is by doing it while having fun. One of my most
effective teaching strategies is using differentiated instructions to make
my teaching fun and engaging. Aside from teaching inside the classroom, I
organized activities showing my students other skills, like singing and
dancing. I also create fun and engaging activities that allow children and
parents to work together on certain task/s and activities.
