Operating instructions
Preface
These operating instructions document the MWTC bag closing conveyor.
The operating instructions have to be handed over to those persons who are
responsible for the operation and the supervision of these machines.
This operating manual includes the necessary information for the user with regard
to installation, operation and maintenance.
We have refrained from describing tasks requiring no special knowledge.
Instructions for repairs exceeding the normal maintenance tasks are not provided.
The machine is built according to the common standards of safety technology.
Despite that, non-intended use can cause danger to the user. For this reason, safety
has been given the highest priority.
The corresponding safety instructions are indicated as follows:
Danger!
Risk of injury for persons.
Caution!
Warning against material damage.

1 Safety
1.1 Safety of personnel
• Protective covers, hoods and gates must be installed and closed at all times.
Open or missing safety covers are danger spots for crush and cut injuries.
• Always keep safety devices in good working condition. Never bypass or disable
any safety devices.
• The system must be brought to a standstill before any maintenance work may
be carried out on the bag closing conveyor!
Make sure that the power source (electricity) is switched off and disconnected.
The lockable main circuit switch, which interrupts the power at all poles, must be
set to “0” and locked.
2 Description
2.1 Designated use
The bag closing conveyor is intended for closing open-mouth bags containing mill
products. Bag dimensions, bag types, filling degree and design version must comply
with the contractual agreement.
The bag closing conveyor is intended exclusively for the processing of products in
the area of application as defined in the contract. Any use beyond the contracted
area of application shall be considered noncompliant use.
Explosion hazard!
The bag closing conveyor may be operated in areas where there is a risk of
explosion only if special permission is obtained.
2.2 Identification
Note:
Do not remove or cover up the identification plate.
The data for the individual unit, as identified by “”, is stamped in the data plate.

3 Transport
Only allow transport by persons who are familiar with this task and have received
proper training.
3.1 Delivery
Conveyor belts up to a maximum conveying distance of 6 m are delivered assem-
bled and checked.
Conveyor belts with a conveying distance of over 6 m are delivered partially assem-
bled.
Danger!
Never walk beneath suspended loads.
Caution!
Check the crane and hoisting device for the required layout and the permitted load.
Hoist the machine at the specified suspension points only.
Use only the supplied transport devices.
Note:
The transport weights provided by the forwarder in the shipping documents are to
be observed strictly!
4 Installation
4.1 Site requirements
Space requirements, floor openings, bearing surfaces and floor loads in accordance
with separate planning documents.
The MWTC must be placed on a vibration-free substrate.
4.2 Delivery
Conveyor belts up a to maximum conveying distance of 6 m (with or without acceler-
ator belt) are delivered in one piece.
Conveyor belts with a conveying distance of over 6 m are delivered partially assem-
bled.
Part groups
• Drive end assembled with belt box
• Deflection end assembled with belt box (for units without accelerator belt)
• Belt box (for units with accelerator belt)
• Accelerator belt (where applicable)
• Bag stabiliser (for units with accelerator belt)
• Guide rail system
• Height adjustment
• Flat top belt
4.3 Design
• Barricade the assembly area from unauthorised access.
• Make sure that the working environment is safe (remove any items that could
cause someone to stumble etc.).
• Allow sufficient clearance for performing installation and setup tasks.

Always install the guide rail doors in the direction of transport in front of the bag turn-
ing device(MWTM) or the bag pusher (MWTQ). See Fig. 4.1, 4-2 and Fig. 4.2,
4-3.
4.4 Options
Caution!
Align the individual elements exactly.
Use only the original, correctly fitting screws to make the screw connections.
Imprecise installation causes wear on the flat top belt.

4.6 Disassembly
At the end of the deployment period of the bag closing conveyor
(major overhaul, dismantling or scrapping) disassembly of the machine is the same
as installation, but in reverse order.
• Before beginning the removal work, the person in charge must obtain the corre-
sponding instructions for a safe disassembly process from the manufacturer.
• The bag closing conveyor may be removed only in observance of all accident
prevention measures and only by trained personnel. These personnel must be
familiar with all relevant safety precautions.
5 Start-up
Only personnel who have been trained and authorised to do so may start up the bag
closing conveyor, perform test runs and make adjustments.
5.3 Settings
• Using the potentiometer, synchronise the speeds of the conveyor belt and bag
closing system.
• Check the high (HL) and low (LL) limit positions on the height adjustment units.
6 Operation
• A higher-level host system (control system) is used to START and STOP the
conveyor belt.
• The speed of the conveyor belt is set manually using the potentiometer of the
drive. The speed of the conveyor belt and the closing system must be in syn-
chronisation.
• Set the height of the belt according to the bag type, variant and other require-
ments. For motorised height adjustment, the changes are made using recipe
parameters.
7 Maintenance
Only personnel who have been trained and authorised to do so may perform main-
tenance work on the bag closing conveyor.
Danger!
Never perform any maintenance, cleaning or overhaul work unless the
machine is at a complete standstill (all machine movements have been
stopped).
The lockable main circuit switch, which interrupts the power at all poles,
must be set to “0” and locked.
7.3 Cleaning
The cleaning interval is based on that of the rest of the system section.

Fig. 7.2
Locate the middle gear wheel exactly in the middle of the belt. It cannot have any
lateral clearance.
Each of the two outer gear wheels must have 3 mm of clearance.
7.7 Disposal
Dispose of the bag closing conveyor and its components in accordance with locally
applicable codes and regulations.
When the machine is removed from service for the last time, protect the environ-
ment by ensuring that all of its components are disposed of and / or recycled in
accordance with the best practice:
• Liquids (gear oil)
• Hazardous waste (e.g. batteries, electronic parts)
• Remove and separate plastic parts
• Pre-sort metal parts by type of metal
