Geometric Relationships for Various Shapes Inscribed in a Sphere

1. Rectangle in a Sphere
The diagonal of the rectangle equals the diameter of the sphere:
Diagonal of rectangle = √(width² + height²) = 2R,
where R is the radius of the sphere.

2. Square in a Sphere
The diagonal of the square equals the diameter of the sphere:
Diagonal of square = √2 × side of square = 2R.
Therefore:
Side of square = 2R / √2 = R√2.

3. Cone in a Sphere
The slant height of the cone equals the diameter of the sphere:
Slant height = √(radius of base² + height²) = 2R.
This relationship can be used to express the height or radius of the cone in terms of R.

4. Circle in a Sphere
The diameter of the circle equals the diameter of the sphere:
Diameter of circle = 2R.
Thus, the radius of the circle is R.

5. Cylinder in a Sphere
The diagonal of the cylinder's rectangular cross-section equals the diameter of the sphere:
√((diameter of base)² + (height)²) = 2R.
This equation relates the height and the base diameter of the cylinder.

6. Cube in a Sphere
The space diagonal of the cube equals the diameter of the sphere:
Space diagonal of cube = √3 × side of cube = 2R.
Therefore:
Side of cube = 2R / √3.

7. Cuboid in a Sphere
The space diagonal of the cuboid equals the diameter of the sphere:
Space diagonal of cuboid = √(length² + breadth² + height²) = 2R.
